I don't normally do this but I've just been feeling so nervous and stressed out. I hope there's other people who can relate to this. I've been studying for the LSAT for two months. I'm taking the test on Friday and I'm just simply not ready for it.It wasn't my decision to only study for two months, I was pressured by my family into registering for the September LSAT. I spent the entire summer studying full time and I've been so miserable. I don't go outside. Every single day I've been studying and studying. I've made good progress but I need more time. I don't feel comfortable having to take it when I'm not where I want to be right now. I'm a first gen student and with the current political climate, my mom has been pressuring me into applying for law school this year. She just doesn't understand the process and it is really frustrating. I'm under so much pressure it's unbearable. I'm posting this in case anyone else relates and wants to talk about it.

First gen taking the test in October, feeling a lot of loneliness over here. Honestly, the 7Sage community has been remarkable for helping me keep my head above water (I am training for a half-marathon which will be a few days before my test, am sustaining a serious injury, working, and disabled). The pressure is absolutely there, I feel you.

Here are some things I'd recommend doing in the coming days (I have a degree in psychology)

    • Try going outside as soon as you can in the morning, bonus points if it's sunny. You can sit out there, go for a walk, go for a run, read a book, really anything. Fresh air and the sun are great starts to the day.

    • Get some exercise. Even just a walk will help.

    • Try meditation when you feel stressed. It can help with self-centering.

I understand how you're feeling, and I hope that if you try any of these tips, that one of them might help you feel a tiny bit better.

I totally understand you, as a first gen myself, I had to fight some pressure off from my own family to keep rescheduling my exam till it felt ready, but I also think having that pressure is a tough love way of saying "do it soon otherwise you'll never get it down". And for me personally, that was true! I feel like putting down a date really did push me to work harder, and to some extent the results paid off, but then I took a PT a week before my Friday exam and it was suuper low. So it was pretty discouraging, but I'm honestly going to say f it, and take it. I also felt it at my CORE when you said, "I don't go outside". ME TOO! Given this pressure, but honestly that doesn't do us any good either, you need to relax, you need something to keep you mind off the LSAT so you don't burn yourself out!! If you'd like to call on 7sage chat, let me know I'm here to talk.

Breathe. You should try and take it. If you don't feel confident about your performance you can always cancel. If you have score preview, then you can atleast see what you got and go from there.

And either way, you can still sign up for November and have up to 2 more months to study for it.

    You got this

if you are doing something because your "mom is pressuring" you to do it, and you aren't seeking it out on your own you probably shouldn't do it. However you should Postpone your test, if you can't because your being pressured, explain to your mom that a shitty score, is worth as much as a blank score, and much worse its wasting money if you don't have a fee waiver.

I'm a first gen student and I take it on Friday too, I understand being under pressure. I'm sorry you're going through that stress, the process can be pretty stressful. If you do want to go to law school I would recommend to sign up for the November test too (whenever you feel ready) but if you don't I would suggest to remind yourself that you can do it, and to not let the opinions of others, such as your mom, get to you. You've tried your hardest and thats what matters! On test day remind yourself that you can do it! If you ever need anyone to talk to you can message me, I hope test day goes well for you.
