Damn, for some reason I just assumed that correct answer choices would always support the main conclusion. Never realized right AC could be supporting sub-conclusions.
If you are pretty sure you could get a 174+ then I say do it. Pretty sure that will begin to open to the doors into higher ranked T1 schools, granted it is still no guarantee that you'll get into them. At the end of the day, if a 172 got you to your ultimate goal, then be content with it.
The premise is the evidence for the conclusion (ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS). Conclusions can't be used as evidence. If you identify the conclusion, you should be able to put a "why" after the conclusion, for which the premise (evidence) will support it (the conclusion). You can also put a "so" after the premise and the conclusion should logically follow. For example, use this question for the examples below:
"But this is nonsense (conclusion),WHY? Because even if it were possible to mine the moon for helium-3 the technology to build fusion reactors is at least 50 years away (Premise)
or
Even if it were possible to mine the moon for helium-3, the technology to build fusion reactors is at least 50 years away, SO this is nonsense.
Notice that these statements more or less make sense when you use the 'So' and 'Why' Method.
English is my first language and I STILL didn't know the definition of inhibit lol
