I think JY is incorrect here in regard to what the generalization is. It is not just climate. It is rather that "in a system as complex as that giving rise to climate, no significant aspect can be controlled by a single variable." This is a whole class of things.

To my eye, the argument basically breaks down like this:

A (system as complex as...) --> B/ (no one single explanatory variable)

C (system giving rise climate) --> A (...)

------------------------------------------------------------

C --> B/

Yeah, I fell for this as well. Yet, I realize now that this required the assumption that the author of the play did not hear about the coin before it was circulated. Since E tells us that the coin was much discussed in the development stage, we can therefore imagine that the author of the play could have heard of it at this point and decided to write about it pre-circulation.

The stimulus here seemed vague. It says that brown dwarfs are identified on the basis of whether they have lithium in their atmosphere. Then, it goes on to tell us that the brown dwarf cannot consume its lithium due to the lack of a functional internal furnace. I see why C is correct if we've already determined that all brown dwarfs have lithium in their atmosphere. Yet, since that has not been established, it seems like a big jump to assume that because the internal furnace cannot consume lithium there must be lithium present. Indeed, if they did not have lithium in the atmosphere at any point, the inability to process it would be irrelevant and the brown dwarf could be without it, which would render C wrong.
