Hi! I am confused about how the LSAC will calculate my GPA. My college just has A, B, C, etc. They do not give plus or minus. The college I transferred to gives plus and minus. I am just confused how this would all calculate up with the custom LSAC GPA.

Should I be doing timed LR sections from like 40s and 50s because I find that when I take it timed? I want to take the July test for sure, so I am trying to do evens PTS 60s through now by then.
I sometimes get like -9, but BR is just -2 or -3. I am trying to improve my LR score because I'm stuck in the 160s, but in BR I get like 170-175.What suggestions do you guys have?
Thank you so much!
Hey! I am stuck in the low 160s, but my BR score is 173+. How do you recommend studying to increase towards a 170?

If it helps you with a timeline, I took the November 2018 Test which I was unprepared for and scored a 152 then I took the July 2019 test, scored a 162, so that took me about 9 months. Then now in practice I score in the high 160s low 170s. So it took me another few months to go from low to mid 160s to high 160s and 170.
First, I really appreciate any help that you guys are able to provide me and I apologize in advance for any errors (writing late at night). Some information about me is that I am 19 years old, I finished HS at 17, and got Bachelors in 2 years. I feel like I have been quite fortunate to not face challenges that will say "WOAH!", but I am still confused. Also, if anyone is please able to read it and wants to trade, I would love to do that!
1)NERD PS: I do have a PS from Top 100 where my college chose 100 students focusing on internships, research, volunteering, GPA, and more. Personally...it does make me sound like a nerd and does share a lot which is on my resume. I feel like it could be a unique topic, but I'm not really sure.
DIVERSITY PS: I do wanna save this PS because it will focus on how I moved from India to US and adapted as a child in a new homogeneous community..
CREATIVE PS: I could focus on Bollywood movies and even romance novels which made me see world in "rose colored" glasses essentially. I could even switch this and add my first love/heartbreak...what I learned from it, how I grew (ideas of self growth/feminism) , decided to volunteer and help victims of domestic violence, etc...but idk if that makes me sound like a little kid. I think i could word it appropriately tho
THANK YOU!
I absolutely love how supportive 7sage community is and I am glad that I chose this program. I was hoping that you guys would be able to check my rough draft of the personal statement and provide some feedback. I know there is always room for improvement and I would love to see if I am actually on the "right track". I would love to check yours as well and we can just switch them back and forth. Let me know if anyone is interested and I will message you! Thank you!
I am completely lost on my personal statement. It feels as if I cannot find the perfect story to share. I want it to be unique and have been advised to stay away from the "immigrant child story and transition into US". I feel like it is very difficult for me because I am only 19 years old. I've been quite fortunate to not face challenges in my life and things have gone per plan. I don't want to write the basic "I am a perfectionist" story either. I have been very confused and would appreciate any help you are able to offer.
Hey! I feel like I also sometimes blame the sections, so that's why I'm just sitting down patiently and reviewing the test once more. It was my first time doing the digital online for PT 70 where I got the 164. I got impatient...I know I shouldn't have, but I wanted to know my score and see how 7sage new feature works. It was really helpful to see where I was switching answers and I'm going to keep working on this. I'm sitting down patiently and BR-ing effectively on paper and writing out my explanations. Do you think this is a good approach? Take the test digitally, BR on paper and write out explanations.
Also, with the July retake option available and getting to see the score before, it seems like a good idea to just take the test. Thank you for your advise!

I would wait to take the test until your scores are more consistent. Try to locate the problem of what is causing the fluctuation in scores. Whenever I did bad on the test, I would just blame the test and say that the test was b.s or they put a messed up game or r.c passage and practically ignored it. I noticed I was BR'ing it less than tests I would get above 170 on because I was pissed and was so eager to just move on from a bad score. It ended up costing me on the real test. The good thing is your BR scores are consistent and high which shows you understand the concepts. With the digital version, it makes it easier to understand where the problem is because you can see the time you allocated to each question/game/passage and really examine what went wrong.
Definitely! This was really helpful and I'm going to keep working. Especially with the July retake option available and getting to see the score before, it seems like a good idea. Thank you for being so encouraging!
I think I was just hoping for others' stories who have had success going up 5ish points towards 170 and looking for strategies that worked for them!
The progress that you’ve made so far is incredible! I wouldn’t stress out too much about 1 test. There are so many variables that can go into a single test score: environment (as you mentioned), alertness, maybe the section that you struggle on the most was unusually hard this time, etc. Maybe the 170 was unusually high, or the 164 unusually low, who knows? IMO, the best way to find out where you’re really at is to take the average of 5 or so recent test scores, if you’re taking them frequently.
Keep grinding and don’t psych yourself out. If you get the 170 in July, then great! If you need to take it again in the fall to get the score you want, then that’s fine too.

Why T14 or bust? We have no way of knowing if you can reach 170 by July but the good news is that you have scored a 170 on a real timed PT. Focus on replicating that success between now and July! Good luck
First thing, I want to thank anyone who replies because I know this is very long.
The problem is my score isn't where I want it to be. Here are my test breakdowns:
Original last year: 144 before CC on diagnostic
Two weeks ago: PT 63- 159 and BR 173
Two weeks ago:PT 65- 163 and BR 175
Few days ago: PT 69- 170 and BR 172
Most recent: PT 70- 164
I know I am making progress, but seeing the dip from 170 to 164 is a bit stressful. I know it was because the environment got very disruptive last minute, but still...I am very stressed. My main goal was to get into the Top 14 law schools, but I have just a 3.6 GPA. I am worried that my GPA isn't good enough for law school, but I thought maybe with a high LSAT score, I might be able to still get in.
I feel like I should be aiming for the 170, but can I even get that by July? If not July, then September? Is that too unrealistic? I am worried about taking the test in November and applying later on because of my GPA. I really want to go to the Top 14 though, so I don't know because I did sit last year's cycle out, so I don't want to delay ANOTHER year. I was really set on the Top 14 and I am looking for any advice. Thank you so much!
Hey guys! I'm trying to figure out what worked best for you. I have just went through CC for the second time and I'm trying to decide whether I want to start drilling sets 1-30 by the question type drill sets or if I should print it off and do it as a timed section. What suggestions do you have?
Usually when I take a PT, I score like 162-165 range. After my BR, I usually score like 172-176. I'm trying to do two tests per week, but ultimately the range isn't changing much. I feel like I just don't know how I am supposed to study. So, after the BR...what should I be doing? Yes, I do look at analytics and it'll say I missed a lot of flaw questions under time, but not under review. So,I've tried redoing CC, but I just don't understand what to do.
What do I do after BR? What sets or drills? Is it even possible to get a 170 by September. I'm losing hope at this point.
I just scored my first 170 on a timed PT 69 or usually I score 159-165 with a BR score of 173-175. I'm just so glad to make this break through, but I want to know what tests should I be taking. I want to take the test in July and mayyyybe September if I don't get 168+ What tests should I take now? I was thinking to take evens 70s-80s just to keep the odd ones incase I need to test in September.
PT69 S1 2019-06-16 2 days ago LR -4
PT69 S2 2019-06-16 2 days ago LG -0
PT69 S3 2019-06-16 2 days ago RC -4
PT69 S4 2019-06-16 2 days ago LR -3
I'm trying to improve my LR, but I'm really struggling under timed conditions. What advise do you guys have to get -5 or less consistently?
And for the last game where, I placed the Q letter in 4 instead of 5. So I don't know how much that would mess me up...so upset with myself honestly.
Hey! I had 3 LR as well.
I also remember the Lemurs and primates, tulles, and acidic water.
I remember the trucks and insurance, but I don't really remember Napolean or haunted house. But I remember air pollution, so I'm confused if some of the questions overlapped or if I just forgot them.
My worst section was LR26 then... LR25:

@ do you have a LR section with galaxy quetion? Or a LR section with healthy fish leaders?
I had three LR sections. I did not have an LR section with healthy fish. I did have a galaxy-related question about radiation of stars (not sure if that counts as "galaxy").
Questions I sort of remember:
LR25: Lemurs and primates, turtles and acidic water,
LR26: somehow can't remember any but it was pretty difficult I thought!
LR25: british port, chinese tea, political parties and voting, trucks and insurance, elementary schools (two different questions with different stims), Napoleon and arsenic, haunted house, air pollution and rain, (from what I've read, this seems to be the experimental)
I had LG LR LR RC LR
To be honest, I just hope it's not the last LR. I don't really remember much from it, but I do remember the other LR. I had the fish leading question, acidic rain questions, universe questions, but no haunted house question that I remember.
I took it without the spell check and just made sure to be really careful when checking it. Just take it.
OMG! This is so amazing and super inspiring. Congratulations! I'm going to send you a private message as well!
Hey! I think that most schools do allow 3 letters, so that's what I'm doing. I had two professors and one related to work as well. I think if you just have a chat with the professors, they'll be understanding about the situation and willing to help. They may even ask you what you would like highlighted in the letter, so you could share that too. If the CEO can speak more about why he trusted you and picked you, that could be helpful too. It should have a "story" to it, so it doesn't seem like you just chose him for the CEO, but he barely knows you. Be sure that he can speak about you and knows enough about you to do it!
My gpa is 3.66 and I am aiming for the T14, so I have decided to delay a cycle to test in June! I am asking for strategies to go from 161 to 170+. The highest BR I have had so far is 170. How exactly should I study and improve? What tips do you have?
Thank you so much! I will definitely try your advise. You mentioned that maybe I should take a 2 or 3 day break to focus on fundamentals. What would that look like? Any suggestions?

Try taking a step back from these timed sections and focus on your review a bit. You are scoring the test before checking the answers on the last couple, and whenever I do that I am being overly results oriented. Your BR is showing you that you are lacking understanding on 2 or 3 questions per section, and the rest is either misreading or timing. Misreading is more of a priority over timing.
Practice summarizing the stimuli in less convoluted language during review, and label the entire argument (ctx, premises, conclusion). Do this a lot. You will begin to pay more attention to the structure under timed conditions and this will help you pinpoint the problem with the argument faster.
Timing can be addressed through practice, but will naturally improve as your reading accuracy improves.
Lastly, for the 2 or 3 questions you miss during BR, really focus in on why the wrong answers are wrong and why the right answer is right. Mark these so you can attempt them in a week and see if you are still making the same mistakes.
The language in newer LSAT sections is a bit different, particularly in the answer choices, but they are still testing the same concepts. Keep your head up! Once again, try not to be results oriented. Every missed question is an opportunity to learn. If you go -0 or -1 on an LR section timed, it feels really good, but you don't learn anything.
I am not advocating you stop doing timed sections, but maybe a 2 or 3 day break to focus on fundamentals will help you improve and help to keep you from studying while upset. This test is brutal, but all the work you put in will prepare you for the real thing and will eventually be worth it.
Hey guys! I've finished redoing the CC for the second time because I got the Ultimate+ package, am foolproofing the games for the second time, and working through drilling still. I just took PT 59 and am feeling a bit discouraged. I know this is just my first one after such a long time, but I still wanted to see some huge jump.
Today I took PT 59 and got a 159 with a BR of 173.
I'm really glad to see the jump in the BR for sure and I feel like I did get stressed out during time, so hopefully I can still improve.
Breakdowns:
LG Actual -4; BR -0
LR Actual -11; BR -4
LR Actual -7, BR -5
RC Actual -8, BR -1
*Usually my LR actual is -4 to -7 in timed LR sections, so I'm a bit upset about this...hopefully, the next one is better
7 months ago, I took PrepTest 39 and scored 161 with a BR of 169
5 months ago, I took PrepTest 40 and scored 159 with a BR of a170
I appreciate any advise you guys have. I am trying to take the test this summer by July and score a 170+. My goal is to get into the Top14! I am going to keep working on LR drilling, along with timing strategies. I will be taking atleast one or two preptests each week as well because I do have full time to dedicate to the LSAT. Please do share your best tips.
I was wanting to apply for Fall 2019, but I'm not sure what my chances will be at the T14. I did look at the predictor and was quite discouraged. I am hoping to score better on the LSAT on Saturday, but highly considering cancelling it. It's strange because I do get 170 as my BR score, but I am struggling to make it my real score. Any suggestions? Should I just try it and see what I get on this exam, or should I just wait another cycle? I am pretty set on Top 14 though, preferably Michigan or Northwestern.
Which watch should I get for Saturday? I think I saw a video of a watch that rotated on the top, if that makes sense. I'm not sure if that one is still allowed. Which watch are you guys using? Please provide links if you can! Thank you!
I don't know if I'm just getting worse at the LR timed sections or if the LR sections have changed, so this is normal. I was scoring -1 to -4 in the 30s.
Test 40: -6; BR:-2 and -9; BR -3
Test 43: -6; BR:-2 and -4; BR -2
Test 44: -10; BR:-3 and -6; BR -4
Test 45: -10; BR: -6 and -8; BR -1
Test 46: -8; BR -2 and -9 with BR -3
What is going on? From scoring -5 or less consistently to dropping to -10. Ugh I am so upset.
I decided to take a gap year, so I am deciding where I should work. Which experience would be better for law school? Court bailiff or paralegal? Why? What is similar or different between these jobs?
Same
You're completely right! You are not responsible to make someone graduate. Just focus on your new relationship, let the other girl do her own thing, and just focus on yourself. If she tries to feel bad and needs genuine help, then just direct her to better resources but don't get involved in that again.
I think there is going to be that option for July 2019, but I may be wrong. Was there the option to test, see score, and then decide if you want to cancel before? What times has that been an option? When will be the next times?
Thank you so much! I will definitely try your tips!
Hi guys! A little update... I'm trying to make the jump from 167 to 170. My BR score right now is 177. I missed 16 on PT 68 and missed 18 on 71. What is your advise? I'm planning to take the LSAT this November. I'm aiming for the top 14, so I don't know if 167 would still be a decent score. I really do want to break into the 170s if possible though. I'm studying full time so please give me your tips

Thank you so much 7sage for the shout out!
I am a bit confused and I hope someone will be able to help me. I did receive a traffic violation which was reduced. Would I still have to say yes to the following:
Have you ever been charged with and/or convicted of a criminal offense, including any matters that may have been expunged, or received anything other than an honorable discharge from the military?
I don't know of any, but what I did was basically copy the grammar PDF that was given, but write that out myself. I find that I learn best by writing stuff and then just having it on my study table to look over everyday.
I think it could be helpful if you had real questions to ask them. You can always call them and speak to someone. They usually do get your information and may even offer you a fee waiver!
I think that's a great idea if you think he will write an amazing letter. Probably sit and talk with him about what your goals are and what you think he specifically can speak to that others cannot about you. I did have a supervisor from my internship write a letter for me and I think she saw a different side of me rather than just professors in a classroom setting.
Hey! I completely understand your frustration and confusion. What I recommend is taking timed sections of tests and then BR-ing the test thoroughly. I've been able to increase my score greatly in logical reasoning by doing that. Also, use the analytics tool to see what areas you may be weaker in and then drill those certain question types. I feel like after you see questions for so long and write the explanations out, it finally starts to click. Take a break and don't feel guilty either! Try to just do at least one timed section with thorough BR/watch videos :)
Oops, made a mistake
I tried to print off the bundle and it pretty much came with the border...said 7sAge and number on it, but the text didn’t. I just got the first page and that’s it and I know I’m not out of ink. It’s just with the LG BUNDLE. Is there any way someone can check this for me because I need to print them off?
I thought the answer was C, but could someone explain why it is E?
Admin note: edited title
I have a rough draft for my PS and I was hoping someone could please read it for me, offer suggestions, or anything. If you want, we could even swap them and I would love to read yours as well. Let me know please!
I've been finishing my applications for schools and waiting to hear back from them still. Am I supposed to do the FAFSA right now too or can I wait to complete that after they've admitted me?
I am just wondering what you guys are thinking about when choosing law schools to apply to. I feel that I wanted to go to Top 14, but when I look at the possibly ED full ride at WUSTL, it does seem very compelling. Why would you apply to Top 14 or WUSTL ED? Why wouldn't you? I noticed that WUSTL did have about 76 students who went to firms with 500+ people. Would that be big law? Would you likely have the same chance at big law from WUSTL and Top 14? It appears that Top 14 means better chances at Big Law and 160-180k salaries, but is that still possibly from WUSTL? I may be wrong though, so thank you for any clarifications!
@ I haven't taken the writing at all, so that's why I'm confused. I saw it said we can take it up to one year after, but are there certain dates or is it just whenever I login? I'm scared to click something on LSAC and mess up because it says I can start the writing, but I'm not sure.
Has anyone taken the online writing section? I took the test in July, but still haven't taken the writing. Can I take it anytime or is it only on the test date? I'm not sure if I missed it already
I would love to! Message me please.
I would love to study together. I'll message you!
