Hello all,

I'm trying to decide if I want to cancel my score from this last September test. I really don't know how well I did, because LR/RC aside, I really messed up on LG....I ran out of time to bubble in my answers for like 8 frkn questions. I'm predicting a score in the low 160s.

How bad will it look to the committee if I have - Cancel - 173 - Cancel? I'm also on the fence about retaking the test if I don't cancel.. just to make prove to admissions that 173 wasn't an outlier...

Help.... :( and thank you!

^Posting for a friend.

@ I've heard the same thing. Good luck when you apply!

@ First, thank you for your service! and awesome! If any questions come up I will be sure to ask you. Research only goes so far haha.

@ I'm not too sure which brand I really want yet haha I have to keep researching, finding my local OCS and asking from their persepctive and of course the internships.

@ Great points, thank you! I will look into ROTC at my potential law schools.

JAG?

Hello everyone,

Anybody else interested? I skimmed through a lot of the thread on TLS and was curious if anyone on 7sage was interested as well.

I've always wanted to be in the military ever since I was hmm I want to say about 10-ish years old but due to a pretty bad back injury out of high school the recruiter and I decided it was in my best interest not to join, then after graduating university I was about to enlist but went forward with another dream of mine which is law school (studying for the lsat now) then that got me into considering JAG.

Can't say but I will say you have 6 days to cancel so at least for the weekend I'd let the nerves, worries, and whatever settle in before you cancel.

Well this sucks for me. I couldn't even use e-books in college and now I have to take the lsat on a tablet (possibly). Thanks for the heads up, I'll start practicing using my iPad once in a while until I can find some sort of confirmation/information.

@.rizeq and @ thank you both. Also, I am still fresh out of school, I'm drafting an email to send to my professors right now, figured can't hurt to try.

And @ didn't even think about summer school, I'll look into it as well although it may be a bit too late.

Should I delay?

Hey everyone, just signed up for 7sage.

I wanted to post and get opinions of people on this discussion board.

My concern falls into letters of recommendations, I never really connected with my professors and my last two jobs don't write letters (I've asked), luckily I had an employer from years ago that said yes but that means I'm missing one letter. My question is should I email all my professors (I moved across the country so I can't ask in person) and try to get a letter that will most likely be generic or should I delay a year, get a job and ask them for a letter?

Oh and my GPA is below 3.0 and the last 5 PTs I've taken have been 165+ (diag was around 150). Sorry my numbers are estimates I can't recall exactly and I'm not home to check haha.

Thank you!

Off Topic - Lounge thread

Hey all,

Is this allowed? haha I browse through people's threads and such and noticed that topics tend to get off-topic and cluster the OP's questions, comments, etc.. so I thought I would create this for everyone to just chat and connect. If there is one already sorry, please delete/let this die.

Anyways,

September 2016 Checking In

Hi,

I'm on my study break and well..... bored.

I figured at this point you've decided that you are going to take it or you aren't sooooo how many people on 7sage are taking the September LSAT? And where? Maybe people can meet up with each other before and/or after the test! On that note, I am taking mine at Brooklyn College (I think?.. I should probably check...).

Oh and 39 more days. Enjoy!

Upgrade?

Hey everyone,

I am thinking about upgrading to Ultimate + but when I looked at it, it only says +3 months access when I upgrade to Ultimate+, but when I log out and look at it it says 18 months access, does that mean if I upgrade from starter I only get a total of 6 months (3 mos from starter, 3 mos of Ultimate) or are my reading skills so messed up I only understand RC passages?

[Admin note: Ultimate+ includes 12 months now]

1) I wanted to be the president of the United States as a kid then thought being a lawyer was a great path to get there then wanted to be a lawyer. Started uni and changed career paths completely, I went to school in silicon valley and went towards tech/start ups and spent 4 year studying international business and finance, hated it but was too late to get out.

2) Letters of Recommendation, I don't have two academic and the one I do have is going to be average.

3) One idea: My dad loves sports, I remember as a kid I would sneak out of my room and watch him watch sports at midnight/passed midnight every night when he got home. As I kid I never understood why he worked so much (went to work at 9/10am and coming home at midnight, 6-7 days a week) and as I grew up I started realizing why he worked so much, what kind of financial situation we really were in(not good), but still worked day in and day out and how that taught me no matter what may happen, or what cards you are dealt with, hard work and determination with the right goals in mind will lead to success. I used this work ethic throughout my life. I was going to include examples of when those lessons helped, when I was struggling to continue doing anything with my life and not giving up and realizing that my dad didn't work his a** off for me to fail. (Kind of everywhere with this).

Second idea: In undergrad I was drinking everyday, when I woke up, going to class, during midterms/finals, and dinner. I was still "functioning", I was passing my classes (barely), still hanging out with my friends, going to work, by all accounts normal. I started smoking as well and went from one cig to a pack a day in less than a month and that continued. Super cliche movie moment but I was literally looking in the mirror, had a beer in my hand, and was about to hope in the shower and that was when it just all clicked and made me realize wtf am I doing with my life and quit cold turkey. Went sober for a year, moved to NYC and started drinking again but stopped after a month, this time was easier was still difficult.

^i am considering combining them but that seems to much for how short the PS is meant to be.

4) yes and no but I also didn't submit so yeah

I mean think about it everyone... proposing and lsats are pretty damn similar.

You spend at the very minimum months planning it, some people spend years. There are some people who are just naturally a tad bit better at the start (more romantic/higher diagnostic) but we can all learn tips and tricks to get better (through dating that person/going through 7sage), there are ups and downs, and at times becomes extremely difficult to understand, you even fail pretty badly sometimes and get exhausted and want to quit (after a fight, after you do poorly on a PT), but in the end you take the test, and the day before the test you're really anxious and nervous because this may very well be one of the most important things you do in your life.

.... today is a slow day at work..

I read @.rizeq comment on my thread "...pop the question haha...(what is this a proposal?)" and then saw this and read this title as "Should you propose?" and thought to myself... is this was 7sagers talk about on a daily basis? Is someone trying to tell me something through 7sage?... hmm...

@.rizeq My friend who delayed said the same thing. I've studied a lot for the September and feel good for it so I'm going to take the test, see my score then decide on that because at the end of the day if I get a low score I won't get accepted into the schools I want and there will be no point anyways and begin prepping for next year but if I get 175+ then I'm just going to apply and wait haha. It's unfortunate that something like LOR is giving me this much grief but I can't blame anyone but myself.

Thanks for your help!

@.rizeq I agree, I was glad he was honest with me in the case I decide to use his letter at least I know what I am using. Unfortunately I can't ask in person because I moved across the country and won't be heading near my uni anytime soon. And yeah I was considering what was mentioned above and taking a class or two at a CC/delay my app until next cycle, I rather not but if I have to /the best option then it's an optio I'm willing to take.

@ oh I wouldn't say that, he took a call from me to talk and stayed on longer than planned just to discuss law school and gave me alternative ideas but simply said just based on tangible evidence that's most likely going to be the result of the letter "average letter". Him being truthful about it is definitely him lying then end up writing a shitty letter and then I end up applying thinking he wrote me a great letter haha.

And of course I'd look for a letter to make me sound great but as mentioned other professors haven't replied and my gpa doesn't indicate any "great" moments.

Updating this and seeking more input because of the changes that happened.

So I emailed my professors and only 1 replied back (hmm was I that horrible of a student :/). I had a call with him and things were going well, he still agreed to write the letter but said the letter won't be great because I was just an average student, he said if I had gotten that A+ then he would definitely include the words such as "excellent, amazing, etc" but because I got the B and it's been 2 years since I took his class he can't write a great letter. He said he won't write anything negative in the letter but it will most likely be just a run of the mill letter.

I'm going to assume an awesome world right now in regards to my lsat score/my PS: I get 175+ on my lsats, I have a 2.94 GPA, how bad is this situation, my other letter is a professional LOR. I'm planning to apply to a majority of t-20 schools.

Well I guess it depends on what you mean by old habits.

I don't usually get test anxiety but since this is such a important part of my future and I just never know, I decided to start prepping for it anyway I can so the last few weekends I've been waking up as I would for the test, 5:30 am, do some sort of exercise, shower, eat a similar breakfast, dress in roughly the same clothes, account for traffic/commute, and take a timed test at a quiet and similar location (IE. Library). I don't know about other apps but the 7sage app has a proctor app that has background noise and distractions feature that you can control the level of distractions to also help.

Just make sure waking up that much earlier and studying doesn't affect your job and/or be smart about it and gradually work towards waking up earlier/sleeping earlier and studying. I only say this because I did the same thing and started waking up earlier to study and because of that I started slacking a bit at work because I was mentally exhausted when I actually got into the office.

Go for it. However, my suggestion would be to try it out on a timed PT and see if it really makes a difference for you. Don't go into test day and suddenly decide to try out something new.

I sleep, apparently that's a thing. Kind of forgot about it since I started studying for the lsats.

Confirm action
