Withdraws on transcripts.

Hello,

I have 3 withdraws on my transcripts. Two are the same class, its a hard class and I first tried taking it during an already hard semester, and that did not work out. The second time was this summer, and the professor cancelled class a lot and the first test came back and I flunked. At this point, I could stay in this class get a c, or I could drop it again and have 3 w's. What should I do? This would be a non punitive w. My gpa is high, so a C would make it drop a considerable amount. I just do not know what to do. Which would look worse 3 w's with 2 coming from the same class, or a c. I would rather drop, but just not sure how law schools look at that.

The games were a lot easier. (to me atleast) I went -2 on the games, and my average from my PTs was -4/-5. The passages were harder than average (again, to me atleast) I ended up getting 2 more wrong that what I was averaging. Overall, I feel it was not an extremely difficult test.

Another Postpone or not post! (Sorry)

So I am hitting 3-5 points below where I want to be. I have registered for September, and I am not opposed to retaking in December. Is it bad to retake? I just don't really see the point of postponing, seeing as the refund won't be worth it. Am I hurting anything by taking it now, if I am okay with a retake?

Applying

I just took the September LSAT. I do not think I hit my target, and will probably be gearing up for a retake come December. However, can I start the application process without having to submit my September score?

How does this work?

Scholarship Question

I have been offered some very generous scholarships thanks to 7sage helping me improve my score by 12 points.

I was offered about 90% to a tier three school. Comes out to me paying about 7000 a year. I was then offered about 75% from a top 50 school, which comes out to me paying about 14,000 a year.

The tier three is in my state, which I will be practicing law. The top 50 school is in a neighboring state.

I need some advice.

I do not think I am interesting in Big Law, but possibly medium law.

I was very discouraged when I took my first PT too. I have been using 7sage for 2 months, and have seen a 9 point increase! Y

Transient Student Transcript?

I attended a community college in my hometown during the summer of my sophomore year as a transient student. Do I need to send the transcript from that college to LSAC or will that be included on my University's transcript?

Thank you.

When to purchase CAS?

I will be applying for Fall 2017, and am taking the LSAT in September. I want to start asking for LORs asap. Do I need to purchase CAS before I get LORS? Also, when will I be able to see my LSAC GPA? I have submitted all transcripts over a month ago.

Fee Waivers

I took the September lsat and now my inbox is exploding with law schools waiving their application fees. Do they do this for everyone or are they actually looking at my GPA/score? I'm just curious if I should take these emails serious, or if it's just a marketing ploy.

What I have learned is I do better not underlining much at all. I am slowly bringing my RC score down by just reading, and not stressing about what should be underlined. I realize this does not work for everyone, but you just really have to find what works for you.

Hey @ I have heard that as well. Personally, in a similar boat. Our classes aren't quite as big, but they are big. I did my best to just make sure my professors knew my name at the least. I tried to have a few small convos, and from there I am going to just ask them for LORS. Its tough, but many professors know this and will write you a LOR based on your work in their class.

Question about LORS

Hello,

I am getting ready to send out a few emails to ask for LORS. I know a little unprofessional, but its summer and most of my professors are out of town. Here is my question, how do I explain to them the process? Can someone give me an example of what the email should consist of?

How long is the LSAT?

Hey guys! I will be taking the test on Saturday. I know the 35 min sections along with the break, but how long can I expect to be at the testing facility? I am taking it at a smaller location. So hopefully that will make it a little shorter! Right?

Should I retake?

I got one point above my highest PT score, so I am actually really happy! However, I am 2 points away from being in my top school's 75th percentile. With my GPA I am currently in between 50-75 percentile. I honestly do not want to retake, but I would also like in state tuition for this school. Will 2 points be a big deciding factor?

So, I was recently accepted into a school with a decent amount of scholarship money. I scheduled a tour to see the school. I was just notified that I also will have a one on one with the admissions director. To meet and address any concerns I may have. What are some questions I should ask?

AHH, nervous!

Where do I start?

Hello,

I am new to LSAT, but have a dream of being a lawyer. I have bought the LSAT Bibles, and will be buying the 7Sage starter program. I am just confused on where to start? I have read that people have used the Bibles and 7sage together? How? I am needing about a 10-15 point increase from my diagnostic. I will be sitting for the September test. Which approach should I use? Does 7Sage map out a study plan? I am sorry for all the questions, I am just a bit lost right now.

Question about LORS and submitting a resume

Ok, I have two non related questions, but did not want to clog up the discussion thread.

1. I had a professor drop the ball on me. She had agreed to write a LOR, then later said she wouldn't be able to due to time constraints. Even though, she still has a month and she has known about this for 2 months. It was BS, but here is my question. I have a great review from another professor, and will be able to get a great one from my supervisor who I have worked for for a year. Will it hurt me big time to only have one LOR from a prof? I have taken a lot of online classes, so I do not have many options as far as profs that will be able to write a great one for me.

2. I have recently found out that you should submit your resume during the application process. Is this true? I own a small Etsy.com shop with my sister. It has been quite successful over the last 3 years. Like 30k revenue each year. Will adding this on my resume hurt me? I know of the 20 hour a week work week rule for law students. I do not want them to think I will be too busy or breaking that rule. I plan to fully hand over day-to-day operations to my sister during law school.

I started off even worse than you. I was getting -17. I was using the underlining method, and realized that was taking too much time and I was just underlining 75% of the passage. I then stopped, and just read. I do the memory method where I make sure I understand what I just read in each paragraph. I rarely mark on my passages. I have seen great improvement, currently at -8 and slowly improving. I agree with other posters, you have to find what works for you.

This is helpful. I have a question. I am about 5-7 points off where I want to be. I have registered for the September test. Is there any harm in me taking September and then possible December? Some thing in me just wants to take September. Am I hurting anything other than possibly wasting time?

I have a similar story. I saw quite a jump from my diagnostic in a short time. I asked a similar question recently, and I kind of got discouraging answers saying I may want to delay. The more I thought about it these discussion boards, though helpful, do not know what you are capable of. I got really down about the answers I was receiving at first. Then, I had to remember they are just going off general rule. You are capable of anything. Though, it may not be common, you can do it. I hope this gives you the confident boost to tackle this test.

@ When I go back and blind review, I literally have DUH moments. I know the material, I just get too focused on time I guess. Any suggestions? If I could fix that, I would be right where I need to be.

User Avatar

@ 7-10 points is a big gap to jump in 6 weeks, not impossible, but not common either.

I know, but I really think I can do it. I saw a 10 pt increase in a month, which I heard is also uncommon. I have a lot of down time in that 6 weeks. I will not rush it, but would like to give it my all.

@ Also, do you feel time is a problem for you? Are you running to of time, or are you finishing comfortably and missing them?

I am not having a problem finishing. More of just careless mistakes. Like not reading thoroughly.

That is good to know. This is only my 5th Pt, so hopefully it was just a bad day. It was only 5 points off from my highest, but I had been seeing a steady increase, so a 5pt decrease was a little discouraging. Thank you!

Really struggling with RC

I have posted about this before, but my struggle is only getting worse. I just hit an all time low on the RC section. -5 below my diagnostic. I am not sure what to do. I know its hard to improve, but I am taking a huge step in the wrong direction. ANY suggestions? Would love to hear from people who improved their RC scores. REALLY need some motivation.

Pt from 2002

Today I took at Pt from 2002, and did pretty poorly compared to my other recent PTs. Is this PT too out of date to be concerned? It seemed to take me a lot longer than the newer Pts I have previously done.

I am going through the same thing. Some tips I have found that have helped me.

1. Take a section at a time. You know you are capable of taking the test all together. Part of the burn out is how time consuming it can be.

2. Change locations of where you study. I had been studying at my desk or kitchen table 96% of the time. I have no idea why, but as soon as I changed locations I was able to focus better. I have even taken my lsat at the pool.

3. Take that break. You'll be fine.

@

Applying in January isn't late, but it is on the later side. It is usually best to apply earlier (Oct/Nov) Even if you are taking the LSAT in Dec, submit apps and request they be held until your LSAT scores are in. This was the information/advice I received from Spivey Consulting.

What if December will be a retake. How do I request they wait on the new score coming in December, instead of looking at my old score?

Having A hard time focusing

With a little over 20 days from the test I have hit a wall. Every time I sit down to do a PT, I simply cannot. I can't seem to focus. I'll do the first section, get the second and my concentration is gone. I found myself just drawing blanks. I may have lost a little motivation to sit down for 3 hours. I seem to do find drilling sections at a time. Has this happened to anyone? Any ideas how to combat this and quickly?

I just started 7sage course last week. I took the June 2007 prep test, and saw a 6pt increase from my diagnostic and 9pt increase on BR. The one thing that is KILLING my score is RC. I get anywhere from -10 to even -15. JUST AWFUL. I was wondering has 7sage helped anyone with RC. I need a dramatic increase. Also, if you have any advice or tips that have worked for you please share. Thank you!
