Usually -0, but -1 on occasion.

Almost always have time left over, up to 6/7 min depending on the set. If ever I score -1, it coincides with running out of time. Using my extra time: 1st - double check rule substitutions, 2nd - quickly double check my bubbling (I mis-bubbled on a PT once, and the thought still haunts me, so this may be specific to my personal anxieties), 3rd - I start double checking questions in order of which games gave me any hiccups.

I do not skip any questions. I have tried working the questions with additional premises first, but it doesn't seem to affect my time. Sometimes the straight up MBT/MBF questions lead you to an inference you may have missed - and those make other questions quicker - and if you didn't miss it, then it takes only a few seconds to answer.

With every question in LG, I move on after I find the right answer. Immediately. Usually most get double checked during extra time. Not checking every answer choice gives you so much extra time.

As far as splitting up the time... it really does vary. If I feel like either of the first two games are taking too much time, I glance at 3 and 4 to get a feel for what they will hold, then put my nose to the grind and pick up the pace.

Not sure where you are in your studying, but make sure that you are consistently -0 without time limits before setting this goal with time constraints. Having full confidence in your game board and your inferences keeps you from questioning yourself so much - that saves tons of time.

Consistent Score in 3 weeks?!

I am fluctuating in the range 165-172. My median score is a 168 and I'm aiming for a 170 on test day. I know I am capable of it - my BR score fluctuates about 2-3 points in either direction of 175.

I'd love any advice on how to consistently produce my top scores. Some details/stats:

  • RC (Avg. -6) feels like my biggest challenge. I am a slow reader and have a hard time getting in the author's head (so I miss these questions regularly). I am usually skimming the last passage (or the passage with the fewest # of Qs) and rushing through those questions.
  • LG is my highest scoring section and my favorite - not putting any more time into this. Sometimes I miss a question, usually I have 3-5 minutes left for review.
  • LR: (Avg. -3) From the analytics, Flaw is my highest priority closely followed by NA and PSA. I finish LR sections 75% of the time - the other 25% I'm guessing 2 questions.
  • With 3 short weeks left what can I do to nail down those last few points? Should I shorten the time on my PTs? Take fewer PTs and focus on Flaw, NA, PSA? Something else entirely?

    @

I too did a double take with the mining LG reference once everyone started talking about it... did I miss something?! Then it hit me - you probably don't remember it because once you lay out the game pieces, the mining aspect basically disappears. It was more to do with months of the year than the underlying mining theme - hope that rings a bell for you - obviously can't talk the game-type and other specifics.

@ your experimental is one of the LR sections you took. If you scroll through this thread, you'll see that the two scored sections have been identified by some of the stimulus subject matter.

At first when I left the test, I was like, “Man, that LR was easy as hell. I killed that shit.” Then I saw people saying it’s hard on here and on Reddit. Now I’m like, “Man, did I go for a bunch of trap answer choices? Oh no! No law school for me, i guess.” Yeah, so, maybe I’m not taking the next 3 weeks off haha

I feel the same way! I had time to review one LR section and finished the other with a minute to spare. I've had PTs like this and some of them have been my top scores... some have shown me that I can move too quickly and fall into traps..

    LR, RC, LR, LR, LG

RC: Big Bang is the real one (only one I remember)

LR: Did anyone get a section about a person buying property with a swimming pool? That section was so hard. I hope it’s experemental

I feel like this rings a bell for me... and my experimental was RC. I could be wrong, things are blurry. Do you remember anything else about the stimulus?

I feel you - and I appreciate this! I refuse to damage my score out of nerves and poor health conditions. If getting 8 hours of sleep at night and not sipping alcohol until test day gets me even 1 point - worth it.

Two things I've realized from this post:

It would be prudent to kick up my exam conditions with distractions and reduced time.

My nerves totally result from unrealistic expectations. And being realistic is easy. Problem solved.

Wow. I totally bombed this passage. Being rushed for time I skimmed Passage B, missed the MP, and jumped into the Qs without bothering to do a LR summary, consider the Author's Purpose, or related the passages to one another. In my haste I took B to be a critique of A.

    Lesson learned.

Can anyone help me out with Q19? I chose (C). I understand why (A) is better, but I think (C) is supported by the passage.

In lines 28-31 the author is saying that implicit in Marcuse's argument is that we as consumers cannot differentiate between real and false needs. Does this not qualify as "a claim that the author attributes to Marcuse"?

Or does it come down to the fact that (C) qualifies both the real and false needs as psychological, and that if it did not, this would be a correct answer?

Personally, I'm sticking with my normal LSAT routine. I'm happy where I'm scoring and I want Saturday to feel like just another preptest. For me - taking the time off would give me too much time to psych myself out!

    From reddit thread, https://www.reddit.com/r/LSAT/comments/a44tve/lsat_score_release_protocol_what_to_expect_on/:

Scores are released in batches over several hours (sometimes as much as 10-12 hours after the first scores come out), so you may not receive your score for quite a while after the first results start rolling in. Don’t panic; you’ll still get it. You might just be in a later batch.

Scores are NOT released in any sort of order (geographically, alphabetically by first or last name, by test score itself, etc.). So release "patterns" do not exist in any meaningful sense! It's entirely random, and you simply have to be patient and avoid reading anything into your specific delay.

LSAC cannot tell you your score over the phone, no matter how much you beg. Calling and asking for it won’t yield results—not pre-release, and not during the release process itself—so don't bother.

    Need a distraction!

Thanks, everyone! You definitely gave us more factors to consider. If we end up in the city of our choice, we will have support. We haven't so much considered the "what if everything health-related doesn't go smoothly" position. Thank you for bringing that up @. And good point, @ , I don't anticipate having more free time after law school.

    Very much appreciated!

    2L + First Time Parent = Crazy?

I know this is very personal, but I'm wondering if anyone has been in (or is in) a similar situation. My choice to go back to school to finish my BS Chem degree and then pursue law school meant that we had to move and my husband changed companies, in addition to taking on debt. We're likely not staying in the same place for law school and will obviously be piling on more debt. One of the hardest parts of this decision was that we chose to delay having kids.

Thoughts on having kids (for the first time) while in law school? Is that downright nuts, or could it be manageable? I wouldn't do it as a 1L, but maybe into 2nd or 3rd year?

    Thanks in advance

@ I'm trying to do the same. Each time someone asks me how I felt about it, I clam up. I hate repeating it over and over again... My superstitious side fluctuates between "if I underestimate my score, I'm putting out bad karma and will likely get a bad score" and "if I overestimate my score, I'm definitely jinxing it".

Even though it's been over for weeks it's hard to accept that the score is now out of my hands.

So... Do we obsessively refresh at midnight on Friday... Or do score releases happen around midday, evening, by midnight on Saturday??

    Confirm action

    Are you sure?
