A could be construed as an argument to give cancer patients vitamin C, but that is not what the argument is concluding. Since the second clause gives a reason not to give vitamin C, it is the correct answer. If it was just, "cancer cells absorb vitamin C", I would see your point

In my opinion, C is correct not because it is the most obvious principle, but it is the principle that via POE, is the only one left here. There are better, stronger principles that would apply here and easily beat C, but they are not here, thus the weak C is left as the correct answer

The theory given in the question is disproven, which means that the answer has to be a new idea of what caused the extinction
