Demoralized/psychological block?

Hi all,

I Just started my PT regiment after finally completing the 7Sage course but after taking just the first couple of PT's I'm feeling like crap! I knew and expected that I wouldn't be scoring anywhere near my potential, but I just felt after seeing my score and seeing the number of questions I got wrong after spending 4-5 months of studying that I would have gotten a bigger increase. On top of that, I get a lot of answers wrong twice and trapped during my BR!! I usually manage to figure it out during the course but now with these questions I get so demoralized not being able to get it after a BR AND reviewing the video. It really sucks and I'm worried that these scores will take a blow to my confidence/ attitude during my studies leading to diminishing scores...

Can anyone relate to this? What do you do to get your confidence/morale back up? How do you handle questions that are double wrong on a BR?

Hi all,

I have been studying off of the Powerscore for a month or so before signing up with 7Sage. I have made some great gains through Powerscore but I felt I needed something more. I didn't want to take an onsite class after reviewing some of the instructors ( they can really make or break a learning experience) and found that online studying's self pace makes it easy to adjust the curriculum to one's learning curve.

I was just wondering if anyone has switched from a self study like Powerscore to 7Sage, how are you studying? Do you supplement 7Sage with the self study book?

In my case, I have the Powerscore material and am thinking about going through the core curriculums simultaneously. For example, I would watch all 7Sage "main point" videos and then jump straight into Powerscore "main point" chapter right after. I'm not sure if that double whammy would work for or against me. The concerns are 1. conflicting techniques that counter each other and 2. time (it would take way more time to go through both)

Then another thought is to just go through the 7Sage core curriculum as soon as possible so I can jump into the PT's, since the actual PT's will be the true studying. ... any thoughts, comments, suggestions are welcome.

Please excuse typos.

What are best practices for Blind Review?

Hello all,

So I finally got through the curriculum and finished my first PT since my diagnostic (+16 pts wahoo!!) But still got a long wait to go..I was just wondering how everyone was going about this phase of studying..I just finished BR'ing and am wondering what the next best thing to do would be ..Should I:

A. Go back to the question types I need most work on and review the course lessons, then take on problem sets timed/untimed?

B. Review the BR questions that I got wrong twice?

C. Stimulate test conditions on select sections I need work on?(for example sticking 4 RC passages together and doing it timed)

D. Continue simulating PT under test conditions?

I'm pretty sure I should be doing some combination of all 4, but given that I have 3 months left of full time study before the LSAT, I was wondering what regimen would be the best way to get the most gains in that time frame. I'm very tempted to just keep PT'ing and and plow thru 2-3 a week and rely on repetition under timed conditions instead of dedicating time to sections of the course to review.. Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!!

I started implementing what JY says to do 8-12 weeks out from an exam...Habits. I eat 4-5 small meals during the day, with carbs/protein and lots of veggies. I also started journaling, meditating, and say a prayer every night specifically for the LSAT I have almost a gallon of water throughout the entire day with just my water bottle...When I need caffeine, I go for a half-decaf

cup so that I don't crash too hard...

5:30 am -wake, oatmeal, banana, coffee

6-8:00 am Gym (making sure to jog 20 min)

8:30am-2pm Study -L.G. currently, while finishing up BR and reviewing sections I really screwed up on..whatever needs to be done..

2pm-4- Break time. Eat. Catch some Pokemon.

4-8:30pm- 2nd Study session

9:00 Get Ready for bed, shower, clean

9:30- meditate 10 minutes, journal entry for the day, prayer.

9:45-10 LIGHTS OUT!

I also teamed up with a few 7Sagers who keep me motivated. We exchange LR questions to each other throughout the day, question-of-the-day style, which is pretty cool because having to explain it to someone works WONDERS for improving.

I think the journaling and meditating really make a huge difference... When I do a PT, I try to do it at 8:30 at the site I'm taking the LSAT... I also journal right before PTing and write down all my reservations about my own abilities, worries, anxieties, etc. It really helps clear the mind and serves as a pep-talk before diving into the test to boost my confidence. This test is truly psychological and its important to go in with a confident state of mind!!

Reading the discussions boards has actually been very helpful.

NA totally wrecks me

What is everyone doing to conquer NA? I have a really difficult time on these questions...I'm thinking maybe I need to go back to the curriculum, but even then I'm not sure where to start. Review Assumptions? SA? BOTH? maybe weaken?

Or if not the curriculum, what else is there to do to help me improve?

HELP!

Don't get RC bible. It teaches a strategy that is not very practical. I recommend the LSAT Trainer, which a lot of 7Sagers here could attest to, gives an intuitive strategy on RC that is a game changer. I went from missing 8-9 points on an RC section to missing 2-4.

Is LG on dry erase method flawed?

Hi everyone,

So I printed out all my logic games and put them in sheet protectors so I could do the games with a fine-tip dry erase pen. It beats having to print massive amounts of paper for each game..Instead, I just erase everything after each attempt. It's just like having a brand new game. But after a few weeks of doing this, it occurred to me that I may be completely missing something about this method, that it may be inherently flawed. Does anyone have any feedback on using this method? Obviously it's not the same as taking pencil to paper, but it has saved me the trouble of printing...thanks for the feedback!

Bay Area 7Sagers?

Hello 7Sage community,

I am calling on my bay area natives. Where ya at!? I'm looking to start a small study group, or if we have enough people maybe even a small community. I'm prepping for the September 2016 LSAT and plan on studying Full Time during the summer. If you plan on taking it in September and want to meet at a coffee shop or something give me a DM and maybe we can get a group going!

I wouldn't say that I am thinking about skipping out on law school, but I will say that as the law school application deadline get closer and closer, I find myself more and more AFRAID...Afraid of failure, of not being "smart" enough...of the reality of studying the LSAT for an entire year, of giving my 100% effort and STILL not being enough. Equally, I am afraid also of BEING ENOUGH, of having what it takes, of being worthy of this profession, and then having the responsibility to deliver on that. The skills this LSAT is testing us on are important and invaluable tools. It's not easy and sometimes I don't want to study, but it's a skill set I am damn near willing to do anything to get. I REALLY want these skills because i SEE the value in them. It is the utility of this education that really really gets me fired up. That is what's driving me through this LSAT study process. And that scares me. This whole damn process scares me. I am 100% committed, I study every day for the LSAT, I've done months of research on the profession, interviewed multiple lawyers, law students. I am still preparing. Every day I am preparing for this in every way I can think possible and I am still scared. And I don't think any amount of preparation will really get me over this fear, this dread of finding out that yes I do have what it takes, or finding out yes you DONT have what it takes.. Both outcomes EQUALLY scare me.

So when you ask if I'm thinking about skipping out on law school, sometimes I do. It crosses my mind, I accept it, let it pass and then I go back to studying. Because thats frikking fear. Thats ALL it is. F.alse E.vidence A.ppearing R.eal. You're damn right I'm afraid, and you're damn right I'm not going to let that stop me because I'm going to frikkin law school.
