A. No because it is a comparative study of common themes. No mention of borrowing from one another.

B. No bc Storytelling is the universal aspect of cultures; nothing to say about narrative until the 2nd sentence.

C. No, This is too "all encompassing" verbiage for what the stimulus says. The only potentially "all" statement we can derive is that all cultures engage in storytelling. But even that may be too strong of an assertion to make here.

D. Correct. This seems to sum up the stimulus in a more succint manner.

E. No - this is an assumption.

After seeing the video explanation I sort of understand why I got it wrong but this is hard (lol).

My blind review:

A. Correct: Only mentions "Many cable stations have expanded worldwide with multinational programming." There isn't any mention to multinational programming of broadcast networks.

B. Could be true bc uses cable networks as an example for attracting more ads because they can subsidize costs bc of subscriber fees. It could be support to show that the broadcast networks don't rely on subscriber fees.

C. Could be true bc cable stations & broadcast stations are compared on which is able to attract more advertisers & cable won the comparison. Therefore, many of the examples with lower costs relate to cable networks.

D. Explained in the last sentence.

E. Cable stations are able to target particular audiences with 24-hr news, etc.

Before reading the answers I noticed that all of the scenerios relate to someone overthinking a perceived flaw internally and thinking everyone else can notice the insecurity or internal thought. However, the researchers found that most people who interacted with the subject did not notice to the extent that the subject thought they would.

A. Incorrect because every scenario outlined illustrates the subject internalizing something or overthinking. This would be the correct answer if the person were completely unaware of their actions.

B. Incorrect. "People tend to" is overly inclusive of people's ability to notice appearance. There isn't any direct argument being made in the passage. It is 3 separate scenerios that illustrate a braoder point.

C. Incorrect. The passage doesn't discuss how often the subject notices the behavior of others.

D. Incorrect. Too all encompassing with the "Necessary" only if phrase. People may still notice someone's appearance without the subject drawing attention to it.

E. Correct. This answer is the best answer to describe the three scenarios illustrated in the passage.

1. Wrong - /more cholesterol -> /higher risk - don't just negate *However, I feel like I made too many assumptions about conditional logic in this stimulus.

2. Wrong - No info in the passage that says how much smoking increases heart disease.

3. Wrong - "Heart disease kills more North Americans every year than any other single cause." We don't know if high-cholesterol diet is the only factor that leads to heart disease.

4. (I chose this answer) I misinterpreted the stimulus when I attempted to draw out conditional logic.

5. I understand why this answer is correct - however, initially I didn't think that I could assume smoking, drinking and exercise negatively effect the heart. But obviously, they effect the heart to some degree if the "influence levels of cholesterol in the blood".

A. Correct - "Nonprofit group....would have been forced to disband this year if any of its corporate sponsors had withdrawn their financial support." Therefore, it must be true that none of the corporate sponsors withdrew their support since the nonprofit cont'd operation.

B. Wrong - Not MBT, also no information to support this in the passage.

C. Wrong - Not MBT, also no information to support this in the passage because only info we know is that the funding couldn't be withdrawn - no info about increasing. What if they all donated the exact same as the year before?

D. Wrong - Not MBT, also no information to support this in the passage.

E. Wrong - Not MBT, also no information to support this in the passage. No info about other theater groups &&&& we don't know if any funding increased!!

A. Wrong - the stimulus says "Regardless of time of attachment" which makes the time of attachment unknown, we only know a range of time that they detach.

B. Wrong - the stimulus directly says that ticks won't drop from their host unless they have fed to capacity.

C. Correct because the mice are nocturnal and are in their nests all day. Also, the ticks drop off their host (mice) between noon and sunset, when the mice would be sleeping in their nests. MBT

D. This is irrelevant

E. Also irrelevant.

1. A is correct because last year total # of meals sold at all restaurants was much higher than the year before. However, when the accountant says to look at the individual restaurants that have been open last year AND the year before, the number of meals sold decreased at "every one of them". Therefore, if what the sales manager said about total # of meals sold at the comapny's restaurants was higher than the year before, it must be true that some restaurants made increased sales that weren't open both years.

B. Wrong - no information about competitiveness.

C. Wrong - No info about quality improvement - they mention conflicting info about the desirablity of the meals.

D. Wrong - No information was given about prices

E. Wrong - We don't know anything about competing restaurants.

What makes the correct answer correct?

The main conclusion is that seeking a second medical opinion can be awkward, but it is sometimes advisable. C. Restates this

What makes the wrong answer wrong?

A. Concludes something entirely different from what the passage is saying.

B. We don't know if the 1st physician often feels this way - restating a premise in more definite terms. This might support the conclusion if A were the correct answer.

D. Always - these are hypothetical feelings of the physicians. Not all physicians are going to feel this insecurity, as far as we know from the passage.

E. This is the second part of the sentence that includes the conclusion, and it is a premise.

Confirm action

Are you sure?
