No. A GPA addendum is for if you have an especially low GPA that needs to be explained. 3.8 is not especially low under any circumstances. Put your energy into good essays.

At least for me, the main issue with taking one last PT too close to the exam is that if you don't score what you want, it's difficult to shake that negativity completely before the exam. If you don't do well like a week and a half before, you can recover. But if you don't score well like 2 days before the real deal, that's a little harder to recover from.

You're better off drilling timed sections in order to be warmed up in my opinion.

Best PT strategy- simulate flex or no?

I'm looking to take the LSAT-flex in June, but have in the back of my mind that I may need to retake in October. My last few PTs, I have NOT been simulating flex and taking all 4 sections, but not doing a 5th simulated experimental section. My logic is that if I practice longer mental endurance than I need, the flex will be a little bit easier. That being said, with one less LR section on the real exam, I'm wondering if my flex score would be higher or lower than how I'm doing on the full 4 sections.

How are other people going about their PTs these days?

PT7.S4.Q6 - Something about bankers and loans

#help

I got this Necessary Assumption question right, and while it wasn't completely a shot in the dark, I'm struggling to articulate what the argument is saying, and why C is the correct answer. So here I will try to type it out. Any feedback is appreciated.

Argument: The banks should not bear the cost of the insurance. It should be the depositors aka the people who benefit from the insurance.

The necessary assumption: Banks aren't already doing something that offsets the insurance costs they're responsible for

Advice for people with un-ideal test times?

I assume those of you taking the June LSAT got the email about scheduling test times.

Just my luck, my only choice for taking the test is 5-8pm on a Friday. I'm a morning person who has never started a test later than noon, and a little salty right now. I'll get over it in a bit I'm sure, but any pro tips for taking tests at times you're typically not your sharpest? AND dinner time on top of that -_-

I'm no admissions expert, but here are my thoughts on this:

If it's a school where your LSAT score is higher than their 75th percentile, then they want you to apply because if you matriculate to that school, you'll boost their LSAT stats which could help boost that school's ranking.

If it's a school where your LSAT score is at median or lower, then you have some other factor that they believe will contribute to the greater community at their school OR they're looking boost the perception of their selectivity by having more applicants that they don't take.

Either way, you're not guaranteed admissions just because you receive one of these messages. So don't use recruitment emails as the basis for where you apply.

I forgot to have a conversation with my proctor about interruptions this time and had zero problems. Practice the things you can control such as staying in the camera frame the whole time to minimize the chance of interruption.

I was using Khan Academy LSAT prep before I switched over to 7Sage. So when I took my first practice test on 7Sage, I unknowingly chose a PT where I had already done a significant handful of the questions (pretty sure I had done 3/4 logic games multiple times). So I figured a couple things might happen:

  • my score was going to be artificially inflated, and not accurately represent the progress I've made
  • I was gonna be extra grumpy and frustrated from possibly getting something wrong that I've gotten wrong when practicing on Khan Academy
  • From now on, I'm going to triple check that I'm choosing PTs I've never seen before, but in the meantime, what takeaways can I truly get from this test? I got a 158 (163 BR), got -6 on the logic games section the first time through because I ran out of time on the last game (-0 BR) and -10 between both LR sections (-8 BR). For the questions I had seen before, I got most pf them right. But there were a couple I still got wrong in addition to whatever new questions I got wrong.

    PT90+ is May 2020

Just a heads up if you planned on taking the 3 shiny new PTs on law hub. PT 90+ is the same test as PT May 2020, just with an added section to simulate the new 4 section LSAT form. If you've already taken the May 2020 PT, don't also take PT 90+ if you're looking for new content.

Am I the only one who would totally pay for this? LG has always been my favorite section because I love logic puzzles (even on the days they don't love me.) And since LSAC is looking to change this section of the test, I would like these puzzles to do in my spare time. Especially since if I manage to get my goal score on the first try, I may never get to see some of the infamous games I haven't had a chance to try yet.

Did anyone else who had the 2 LG sections feel like one was insanely difficult and one was super easy? I ran out of time and ended up bubbling in at random on the difficult one which almost never happens to me. The super easy LG had a simple sequencing question and some mixed grouping. Hopefully the hard LG was experimental? LR and RC were much easier than usual.

I had a 2 LG sections like that as well and reacted to them the same way you did... praying the harder was experiemental

I had 1 LG that I found super easy. The games were about experienced employees and managers, 6 classes, parade floats, and buying books

Sometimes you put in the work and still fall a bit short. That's not the end of the world. Just remember that being below median doesn't automatically kill your chances. If you can tell an awesome story, your personal statement and other essays can make up for your slightly lower score.

I'm struggling to visualize what kind of cheating would even be helpful for this kind of exam. Unless you had a smart friend who could also see your screen answering the end questions for you while you worked from number 1?

But even if cheating happens, what good does it do for you to speculate about it?

Little Victories in a Great Online Community

We're in the midst of test time once again, and I just wanted to take a moment to say that no matter what your outcome, don't forget to reflect on the little victories in the study process.

I hit 1000 karma points today and was super excited about it XD. While my first thought was "lol sis you need to do something other than comment on 7sage" my next thought was "Why do I comment on 7sage so much?"

And the answer is simple. It's because you all are such a supportive community. Seeing how much everyone wants to help each other makes me want to help others that much more. So cheers you all 7sagers :) Surely one of the best support systems out there!

Are you applying this year? If so, work on your Personal Statements?

Really you just need to be preoccupied with something else. If there's a Netflix show or something you couldn't watch because you were too busy studying, watch it. Whatever hobby you weren't doing because of studying, do it!

Just because you haven't gotten to it in the curriculum doesn't mean skip blind review. You should BR because even if you didn't get to it in the timed exam, you still need to practice the material. You can always go back and do the section again after you actually learn it in the curriculum. But you're doing a disservice to yourself if you skip BR and just look at the answers.

It depends on how the test is curved. PT91 is deemed an "easier" test, therefore it has a stricter curve. 92 is deemed a harder test, so you can miss more and still get a similar score.

For the love of God don't PT on Wednesday. At this point, it's all about execution. You can't execute well if you use up all your energy in practice. Breaks are just as important as putting in the work. You need to recharge before the real deal. In my experience, it made a huge difference.

My first LSAT, I did too much before the test, and I felt really heavy and crummy throughout the test. I feel like I was lucky to score around my average that day. My 2nd time, I did next to nothing right before the test and almost matched my best PT score despite the fact that my last 2 PTs before the test were subpar.

You might be a little burned out/ stressed. My advice is do the bare minimum when it comes to studying/review. I didn't do so great on my PTs leading up to the exam but scored 6 points higher than my average on the real test. I was especially burned out on LR so I didn't look at LR at all and only did some light LG and RC problem sets in the week before my test

Make sure your setup is fully prepared and that you have a backup plan ready in case something happens to your connection.

Practice staying situated in front of the camera properly so that the proctor doesn't interrupt you for going off camera.

Basically, do anything you can to eliminate as much potential stress as possible.

Most importantly, just trust your abilities and your preparation.

PT9.S4.Q22 - When butterfat was considered nutritious

This is a weakening question and I was so lost. I ended up picking an answer choice that I was 90% certain was wrong just to be sure my eyes would go straight to this problem in my review

    My understanding of premise/conclusion:

Conclusion- Manufacturers who wish to call their reduced-butterfat butter by the more appealing name"lite butter" should be allowed to do so

Premises- 1) The public should be encouraged to eat foods with lower butterfat content

    2) The word "imitation" deters some people from purchasing a product because it connotes falsity

Am I reading too much into the "should be allowed to do so" part?

Wait...I may have just figured it out. But I'm not sure. Is E the correct answer because the label "imitation" is encouraging people to buy reduced-butterfat products? And changing the label to "lite butter" might deceive them into buying something higher in butterfat content than what they are currently buying?

You're not looking to outright contradict either the premise or conclusion. So if the premise says, "kids spend too much time on their phone" an option saying that "kids don't spend too much time on their phones" is, in most cases, not the correct answer.

What you're trying to do is make the premise and conclusion relationship less relevant. For example, if your argument is "Cats are better than dogs because dogs are loud," the correct answer probably won't be "Dogs aren't loud." Rather, it might read something like "Cats are at least as loud as dogs"

Help me process this flopped PT plz

So I just took PT 88 (flex style)...and it was rough. Like we're talking I knew it was so bad, I didn't even bother with BR and will just redo each section individually tomorrow. I'm not discouraged, just a little concerned about how I managed to fall apart that aggressively. If anyone is willing to sift through my reflection and offer advice, I'd appreciate your words of wisdom. Harsh, gentle, and every tone of advice in between is welcome.

3 things I probably did wrong RE: the timing of this PT (which I took at the time I'm scheduled to take the test for real btw):

  • I stayed up late last night
  • I was out and about all afternoon
  • I have friends coming over right after this, so the pressure of plans right after was probably very unhelpful even though I told them I'd text them when I'm ready
  • Actually taking the test:

TLDR; I messed up the logic games so badly that I knew there was no salvaging my score after that. And it showed in the RC section...LR I somehow managed to recover enough to only get -5 :)

All week, I've been doing individual logic games of all types and difficulties, most of them for the first time. I was finishing them quickly and fairly accurately (-0 or -1). I thought I had finally developed a strategy for paying extra careful attention and not making sloppy rule misunderstandings. Yet today, I did worse than my diagnostic. I somehow managed to misread a rule in every single game and couldn't recover.

This definitely started to leak over into the LR section, which is unfortunate because I was able to hit a personal best in my drills this week. But I still was able to implement my skipping strategy and I even stopped and closed my eyes for like a whole minute. My attitude was not great, but obviously I kept it together enough to get -5, which is about as bad as I'm hoping to do worst case scenario on the real test.

I thought I had made a recovery, but the lingering effects resurfaced in the 2nd RC passage. The passages were all actually quite easy to understand, but I think I just mentally checked out because I knew this test was a wash.

    The big question

I guess if there was one piece of advice I absolutely need, it's how to stay mentally engaged after royally screwing up. I consider myself a good test taker and I've never gotten that deflated mid test, even on tests where I knew I wasn't up to par on the material. I always found a way to salvage some scraps, but just didn't have it in me today for whatever reason.

Like I said before, I'm not discouraged because I made some sick gains in my drills this week and was really feeling myself all week. It just didn't click during this PT. But with only 12 days to go...yikes

Also, if you read through all of this, you're a hero and deserve all the success in the universe.

One thing to note re 91&92, when taking on law hub, you can’t BR, it just gives you your results, so keep that in mind as they can mess up your review.

If you take the exam on self-paced mode instead of exam mode and pause sections after 35 minutes instead of completing, you can go back and blind review

    correcting setup mid game

So I'm able to make the majority of the inferences in logic games and I'm almost always able to finish a whole section with no pacing issues. My problem is I tend to get sloppy. Either i accidentally skip a rule altogether or I'll make the tough inference only to waste it by combining it with another rule incorrectly.

I'm trying to find the best way for me to be as meticulous as possible so i don't have this issue to begin with. But in the meantime, any strategies for correcting errors midgame without it costing me the rest of the section?

I can taste the -0 but it keeps alluding me!!!

It's common for people to drop off in the 80s PTs because the language in LR changes a bit. If you review your tests really well, you'll get used to it

This is a very good idea, though I would argue for skipping the passage with the least amount of questions instead of definitely the comparative. You could still employ some of the same strategies you mention for skipping the comparative in skipping any passage. Answer the same option for every question, then go back for detail oriented questions if you have time.

    Confirm action

    Are you sure?
