For those who took Sept LSAT

How was it different from PT 78?

I heard virus game and a couple of passage were difficult...But what about other games?

I watched the explanation video but I felt other games in the test seem relatively more difficult than previous tests too, isn't it?

It seems there are more inference because the videos are longer. (average 15 min)

What about LR section?

Thanks!

Hey @ @.rizeq

I just graduated actually...

And I am still waiting for a reply from 2 profs whom I asked but...not sure.

What I am thinking is getting one from the 1st prof...who may decline depending on our discussion and from 1 from whom I worked with...

But I dont know...how should I talk with the 1st prof?? Cannot mess up this time...

@.rizeq

Yeah hope so...

Ahh...I don't know.

Do you think having one from a person who I worked with works? He is one of faculty (not prof teaching there though, just visiting faculty) in the law school I'm aiming at too...but he is not a prof so it's not going to be academic letter and not sure whether it will be OK for other schools...

@ @.rizeq

Thanks,

I actually did not mention about LOR nor law school...

I just asked whether I can meet him in person and visit his office and he said he already retired and just back from hospital stay...he said he hope he will be better in a few month so soundsl ike kind of serious.

Hope he is OK...

I feel so stucked...:( As you know my first and best prof...I don't know, I got a reply from her but she said it would be very hard to write one by the deadline (so soft declining as you said) but she said we can discuss in detail when we meet, so I am intending to talk with her sincerely.

And...I don't know :(

How should I reply to this prof (2nd)? Really...I don't know what to do.

LOR: should I still ask? Or not?

Hello, so I'm looking for another recommender now and got a reply from one of the profs I contacted and...

He said he is ill (has serious illness he said) now and just got back from hospital.

(He also retired from teaching.)

He was the 2nd best prof I knew and since the best prof I know may not be available, I really hoped that I could get a letter from him.

I don't know...normally I would not ask or bother him but I may not be able to find another prof...

What should I do?

Can I still ask him to write a letter or should I not bother him?

How much important is recommendation letter?

If I end up getting a terrible score on LSAT, would good LOR help me to get me into a good school? :(

Or it would not make that much difference? (even if I get really good ones or just good ones or fine ones...)

Would LSAT and GPA just determine where I can go?

Do you read all answer choices on RC?

Hi,

When I think I arrived at the correct answer choice I tend to choose it and move on...

Or just reading the first part of the answer choice and stop when I found some words are not right.

Because otherwise I will not have enough time to finish all passages...:(

Is this a bad strategy?

I wonder those tests are the Feb ones they do not disclose...

But that would mean some people might have seen it before?

Or they might choose from old Feb test so even though there are people who have taken it, it would not matter...it's interesting they moved the date to weekday though, what if you have school or work?

I see...

Thank you.

Actually I'm still not sure about the LOR system...I think we have to choose either send to all law school or specify which school to send right? We cannot change this option later? Can we add law school later?

If we get letters more than 3 can we choose among them? Or will all of them be sent to all schools?

thank you both,

Do you think the first sentence and second sentence are equal? So the second one is actually paraphrase of the first? (or maybe explain in detail?)

So does this mean you read the question stems twice? Will it not waste time?

Ah...that's true.

Um, do you think professors will speak about student's personalities or anything in LOR?

OR they just speak how students' work in her class and nothing beyond that?

Right...but I wonder why she did not say the same thing when I emailed her 2 days ago bc I still do not have the score but just told her I am going to take the test soon finally (it's 1 year since I last saw her...).

She seemed very happy when I asked her in the first place but I don't know now...maybe she heard something about me from other professors who do not like me much and changed her opinion I wonder.

LOR-how much time should we give?

Hi

So I asked my professor to write a letter and she said yes, but until I take the test she will not write one for me...

Does this happen to you?

Because if after the test, it takes a month to see the result and if she starts to write a letter after that it will take more time.

In fact, the other day when I asked her she said she may not be able to write depending on the deadline.

so...when should I ask her then?

I'm not even sure when I will take the test...

What if we put the ID # wrongly?

Hi,

When we forward transcript online, it requires our LSAC account #, but I may put the number wrongly...

What would happen?

I think I skipped the first letter thinking only the number is the account ID.

Would they still proceed my transcript or would they actually transfer it to someone's account?

I cannot call them as my phone is broken now...so worried about this.

Anyone knows something about this?

Thank you

Thank you,

It really sounds constly...

By the way, can my school send electric copy of transcript along with the transcript form?

Or those should be mailed to LSAC?

I thought if we could send electric version, it will save time?

thanks for your reply.

I'm still not sure how it works...it says for each school it costs $30.

So this is in addition to the $175 (for making CAS) and application fee each school requires right?

CAS system

Hello, I have a question about the system...

Where is the transcript requesting form?

I registered my schools, but I do not see the forms.

Also, it says it takes about 2 weeks to proceed...what if it will not be done by the deadlines of school application?

How long did it take for you?

It requires my signiture, so can I just type or do I have to print it and mail to my college? (I cannot attach it to email when I ask my institution when forwarding transcript?)

Thank you for the help in advance.

Thanks, so Berkeley prefers not having students who have relatives in school right?

I heard they may prefer to have "network" so it would be better to have students who have some relations to the school, but I guess it's not like that?

Thanks! I'll do some research and hopefully can come up with good questions...

I am thinking to visit at least 2 schools a day (or is it too much?) so...

Thank you so much for your insights!

Your comments made me want to visit schools now.

So I'm starting to think about which schools to visit and what questions to ask...

I do not have my LSAT score with me so actually I don't know where I am now (which school I can apply etc.)

How should I decide which school to visit? Since it takes time, money, effort...I think I would like to choose wisely. Or just the ones I'm interested even though it might be too challenging after I find out my score or just somewhere close to where I live?

Have any of you visited schools in different states?

And...if you have questions that you think is good to ask, could you share with us?

I intend to search around the websites but I just really want to avoid silly questions...

Thanks!

Did you make an appointment before you visit them? by email or phone or...or can we just walk-in and ask them questions?

@

Thanks!

I thought it can negatively influence my application if I ask silly questions...

So why X law school statement may be stronger than general PS I guess?

RC: when did "modern" start?

Hi,

I heard modern RC has questions that are more abstract...which PTs do you think this started??

People say "modern" referring which PT? IT is kind of unclear...70s? 60s? or 50s?

Thanks

Hello, would like to hear from other students as well...

So I'm thinking to visit the schools that I would like to apply.

Would it be helpful to talk to admission people there or can it actually hurt?

I do not want to give negative images and thought if so I would rather not visiting them...

In which case it can hurt application and in which case it can be helpful?

What questions would you ask them and what questions would you avoid?

Thank you!

1. I think I would like to talk about my diversity aspect in my personal statement.

In that case, what can I write for diversity statement?

Can there be any overlap or any overlap should be avoided? (such as touching a little in personal statement and talk in detail in diversity statement)

Would challenge&overcome story work for diversity statement?

I would like to hear some subjects and themes that I can use to write diversity statement.

2. Would it be helpful to talk to admission people or can it actually hurt?

I do not want to give negative images and thought if so I would rather not visiting them...

3. Are law school booklets helpful in knowing the schools or they do not have much info? When I checked their websites there are so much info and I kind of got lost...especially where to pay attention to (such as for writing why X school essay)

Thanks!

When we write why X school essay, can we actually re-use most of the part and just change a few sentences according to school?

If I am going to use the same test score, which is better, submit application right before the deadline or wait for another cycle? (not sure I can wait, though...)

Would they keep my application for next cycle? What if I want to apply the same school when I get rejected this cycle?

What if they do not list diversity statement? Can we still submit it or should we avoid it since it is additional pages for them to read?

Will optional statement be diverse statement or can we write both optional statement and diversity statement?

wrong answer choice in RC

Hi,

Hi, just wondering...anyone noticed the characteristics of wrong answer choices in RC?

I mean...do they come from the same paragraph or close place? I know for some answer choices they are factually incorrect but for some others they twist the details ect, and part of the choice is correct, and this confuses me a lot. Do correct answer choices and wrong answer choices come from the same paragraph?

Especially for those detail questions...

Substitute rule in LG

Hi,

So I was doing LG today and met this substitution question...

In sequence games or games you combine rules do you combine rules as you read new rules or you write them separately so when you have this question you can easily notice which rule is substituted?

I was doing PT 73 game 2 and the last question, and I was not sure between B and E because both seem true :(

Edit&additional questions:

Let me change the title and ask a bit different question since it seems we can only post 2 threads per day...

for RC, do you think reading questions first would help me to understand what passage would say better?

Especially for those hard passages...

I know ppl recommend not reading questions first, but I'm terribly weak at hard RC...would it be helpful?

Original post:

Hi, this may sound a little weird question, but...

Which makes you comprehend the reading better, read it faster or slower?

Especially for those hard questions and passages in LR and RC...

I found sometimes even though I decrease the speed to understand better, it sometimes makes me even more confusing when I read slow. (and sometimes it's the same) But sometimes reading slower works better...

So I was wondering how others read...when you do not understand something in the passage, do you decrease your speed?

Or push reading?

Thanks

I see...:(

Sounds like he is going to stay more than 2 weeks cuz she said he has business in this city.

How should I tell her if he is going to stay more than 2 weeks?

...."Can you pay the rent?"

Feel really stressful...

They chat in the living room and I cannot sleep well.

She does not let me know in advance even though I asked her so many times.

How should I tell her?

After she invite a frined A then she invited a friend B...and it's a male this time. He has already been here for a week and before that he stayed on Friday. Sat. Sun...

Is this normal???

I told her I'm studying for LSAT but...

Sorry not related to lSAT question :(

Partially correct diagram

Hi,

When you do LG do you always have complete, perfect diagram like JY's?

I found I often have diagrams that are incomplete...very similar to JY's but did not have enough inference or did not divide into sub game boards etc.

Does this happen to you or am I just not mature enough on LG yet?

Thanks

No cause X no effect Y?

Hi

I thought if there is no cause, then no effect can be true and can strengthen an argument.

then I met this question...PT65.S1.Q15.

From the correct answer it seems it suggests even though there is no such a cause, an effect can happen and thus the argument is a flaw.

So...no cause, then no effect does not actually always be true??

Why in one case it can be a strengthener and in another case it is a flaw...

Confirm action

Are you sure?
