If you struggled with this question (like I did), you should also try PT61 - Section 2 - Question 20. Very similar!

I like this part "percentages don’t mean much unless we’re told the number they’re taking the percentages of." For example, 50% jackets last year vs 10% jackets off this year doesn't tell us a whole lot unless we know what percentage of the WHOLE is.

Are the jackets $100 both years? Then 50% off is a good deal! What if we do not know that the jackets were $100 both years? There lies the issue.

Found the answer to my own question if this helps anyone:

It's all about the flow of support. For MSS questions, we accept the stimulus to be true and hold the ACs suspect. It's the opposite for Strengthen questions where you should accept the ACs as true and hold the stimulus to be suspect.

Examples of MSS q stems vs Strengthen q stems:

MSS

"The statements above, if true, most strongly support which of the following (WOTF)?

"WOTF inferences is most strongly supported by the information above?"

Strengthen

"WOTF, if valid, most strongly supports the statements above?"

"WOTF, if true, most supports the argument?"

It is still unclear to me why this is a Strengthen question and not a MSS or even PSA question? Any thoughts? #help#help

Q.10

I chose answer D because I thought we "some" (a range of 1-100) and "most" (1/2 +1) have overlapping ranges? So "some" lawyers could also be "most" lawyers??

Question on this method...

I went looking for "human life" type terms in the answer choices and picked A rather than looking for "same origin" type terms.

Could anyone explain why you decided to look for "same origin" ideas? I have a hard time picking the right thing to hunt for in the AC with this method.

@mgscaptura46 thank you for explaining in depth! I will try to reframe my thinking with your advice!

@mgscaptura46 this was phenomenal. Especially the part about whether the stim affects the AC or if the AC affect the stim.

I guess my follow-up question would be to what extent you take the Q Stem into consideration when planning your attack of the question. I'm blind reviewing an exam right now and am trying to ask myself how the AC and stim interact without fully siloing myself into my old ways of looking at a given question and thinking: "this is a BLAH question so now proceed like the BLAH question requires".

Hopefully that makes sense..?

LR Q Stem Confusion (MBT, MSS, PSA, SA, NA, etc)

Hello, 7Sagers! I seem to have a difficult time committing to memory the differences in language for Q stems in Logical Reasoning for MBT, MSS, PSA, SA, NA, and sometimes Strengthening & Principle question types. I get tripped up because the difference in the Q stem's wording is subtle, and when I don't have a solid grasp of what is being asked it makes it difficult for me to plan my attack of the answer choices. I'd also like to be confident in what type of question it is so I can frame my mind around what direction the support should flow (upwards or downwards).

For example:

I have seen ("WOTF principles, if valid, most helps to justify the reasoning...") to be Q stems for both Principle and PSA questions.

Or the fact that this Strengthening question has most strongly supported it it ("The conclusion of the _____'s argument is most strongly supported if WOTF completes the argument?")

Or the differences between this MSS Q stem (""WOTF can be most reasonably inferred by the...") and this MBT Q stem ("WOTF can be properly inferred from the statements above?")

I am aware of the fact that just because the word "principle" appears in the Q stem doesn't mean it is a Principle type question, however I still struggle to discern the subtle differences between these types of questions. Does anyone have a method they use to nail down the differences?

NOTE: Which of the following = WOTF

Nov. LSAT Signup Issues

Is anyone else having an issue signing up through ProctorU right now? I got the email from LSAC to sign up but when I tried scheduling a test time it shows "no active exams". When I tried to schedule an exam under "schedule a new session" it only offers my undergraduate institution as an option, not LSAC.

Anyone else experiencing this? ProctorU is a mess and I'm worried this won't be solved anytime soon. Anyone had any luck?

PT59 S3 Q20 is a similarly flawed question in that it draws a false dichotomy with extremes. It was helpful for me to see multiple explanations for the same type of flawed reasoning to really get it.

Are we still allowed to use the "Ctrl+F" function on the October LSAT?

Does anyone know if this will still be an option for the November?

When JY says "from the core curriculum you realize if you identify A correlated with B, typically the LSAT writers pick from one of the 4 explanations"...

Can anyone point me to which lesson he is referencing specifically? #help
