    You can find some examples which might help you get started here. A lot of them are about racial inequality, growing up bi-racial, being from a low income part of town, etc.

    Also, keep in mind that a diversity statement doesn't have to be about race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, or background. It just has to be about why you're a unique candidate. So if you have some other extremely unique trait that you'd rather write about, feel free! Some examples - you studied astrophysics, or you were a college athlete, or you had a child at 16 years old, or you raised a kid without the other parent in the picture, or you cared for your siblings because your parents weren't in the picture, or you were a military brat and moved every year to a new country.. literally anything, that you think adcoms might find unique, that would be beneficial to their incoming LS classes is fair game to write about in a diversity statement.
