Valid and Invalid arguments

i have a question
I just did the Distinguish Valid from Invalid Forms Flashcards.
I got them all right, but my question is, during the test do I have to engage in how is the case that they are valid or just memorize the formulas and once I recognize them answer the questions? Because I am able to recognize the formulas and I am not engaging in thinking as to why is it valid or invalid....

I think you should engage with why it's valid or invalid during your review process, so that you have a thorough understanding of it. But during timed conditions, you don't necessarily need to understand why, just go through it robustly. Of course, difficult questions might hinge on those nuanced subtleties, like parallel method of reasoning, psa, etc.
