Having a US JD and moving to another part of the world to practise

I'm not sure if anyone is in the same boat as me, but my rough plan has always been to get a US JD and then move to maybe Asia, Australia or London to practise law (I'm Australian by nationality). Does anyone have any insight into this process and the considerations or challenges that are associated with it?

you might need to get an LLM to practice in that country. Not every country accepts a US law degree to practice. At least that is how it is in the Caribbean.

It will depend on the type of work you want to do in these countries. If you want to practice in those countries as a licensed attorney (or whatever you are called in that country), you should look into the requirements for the bar examination in these countries. It might be a bit different if you are also open to other types of work or if you only want to work as a "foreign lawyer".

I am not sure which cities or countries you have in mind by saying "Asia". For example, only four US universities are listed in the "Approved Universities" to take the Singapore Bar.

I haven't researched on other countries before. You would have to look into the specific countries you are interested in.
