"[Jubilee] was to the spiritual what Hughes's The Weary was to secular songs."
This comes from PT2, Section 1, Q3, AC (E).
Can anyone translate this sentence for me please?
Thank you!
Comments
It was "the spiritual" what Hughes’s BOOK CALLS "secular songs and stories".
Jubillee: Spiritual as Hughes's The Weary: Secular songs.
Specific to general Type comparison.
Jubillee = The Weary and Spiritual = Secular Songs
I don't know the particular question you are referring to but this is the structure I see.
I may be incorrect, but I'm guessing that Jubilee and Hughes' The Weary are important works in their respective fields. So, it's saying that Jubilee is of great importance in the spiritual study as The Weary is to the secular.
Thanks all for helping!!
