I am taking the January LSAT and it will be my first official test. I requested to take it at a testing center rather than virtually. When do we typically know if this request is granted? Do I wait for LSAC to reach out to schedule more details? The deadline for this exam registration is Dec 3rd so I have time, but I was just curious! Thanks for your help and happy studying.

So typically a few weeks before the exam date, LSAC sends you an email releasing the date when you can register on Prometric to take your exam. You're allowed to choose to test remotely or in person regardless of what your preference was that you requested. Also it gives you a range of dates and times that you can choose from but keep in mind that there's a que of thousands of other people registering at the same time so it's best to do it as soon as your preferred date becomes available. The email they'll send you is very straightforward and lets you know when registering becomes available (whether its remote, in person, and on a certain day).
I really appreciate the info, thank you so much. I’ll keep an eye out for the email.
