Is this official? Last year's rankings are still on the USNWR website. It's interesting how much Berkley moved up and Georgetown reclaimed its spot in the T14.

Still early - and the official release isn't until like the 20th - but from what I've read from Spivy, it sounds like they may have changed up the way they calculate it a bit. (Student/Teacher ratio for example)

Berkeley got Cheriminsky as a dean. He wrote a Constitutional Law textbook that many law schools use. Hes well regarded in legal academia so his move berkeley probably increased their peer assesment score. Im surprised that uci was able to jump 7 points after losing Cherimnsky

IE! I went to school in east LA county, lived in West Covina. IE was kind of my home turf in college.
Yeah, I was ok! It stopped heading in our direction. A bunch of my professors and family friends had to evacuate though.

I remember how unhappy and concerned Berkeley's faculty and staff were last year, with the drop in ranking, budget cuts, that one unfortunate incident, and whatnot. They must be quite relieved by now.
Gotta hand it to UCI. The school is faring far beyond my initial expectations.
Since UCI is proving itself to be a competent institution, I think the Golden State can afford to lose two or three law schools now. Way too many of them in California...
Cornell has been ranked 13th for quite a while now. The school must be under a lot of pressure nowadays. Georgetown changed T14 into T13; Cornell must be doing everything it can to ensure T13 doesn't change to T12.
California is huge, though. A lot of the Cali schools are up-and-coming.
How, if at all, will a decrease in ranking affect a school's admissions process? Do you think they'll become more scrupulous in choosing the best applicants to make up for the decrease in rank? I guess this leads to my other question about these rankings and what criteria is used to determine them.
Glad to see Georgetown isn't tied with UT Austin anymore, and that UChicago still > Columbia hehe

Amen to that. Theres already enough competition in California as is.
No matter what they are going to try to get the best USNews ranking outcome they can. The rankings are determined by several things including highest LSAT and LSAC GPA of admitted candidates as well as more nebulous difficult to change things like reputation. That's true whether they drop or increase.
The decrease in ranking would probably cause studrnts to be less eager to attend for the same scholarship money. This would probably mean that either the school would have to offer bigger scholarships to attract students or risk having their GPA and LSAT medians drop further potentially lowering them further in the rankings in future years.
There are about 20 accredited law schools - let alone partially accredited, unaccredited, and online law schools - in California out of about 200 accredited law schools in the nation. Graduates from other states can work in California too. Granted, saturation can be a subjective standard. I do think there's a threshold though.
I see what you mean. I suppose that in this sense there are too many law schools nationally, too.

Palo Verde and Verano are the best options, including off campus options too. They're pretty equal, depends more on the apartment type in the community. When you apply for housing you can apply with specific room types in both communities at the same time, so you can put you preferences down by price if you'd like.
They're on average the same quality, although PV is more variable (some not so good, others very nice) than Verano.

Do you know if it’s true that there are pretty much no one bedrooms available in Palo Verde and Verano?? I’m bringing my cat so I’m super pumped those two allow you to bring them!! ?

One bedrooms are hard to come by, unless you have extenuating circumstances. But cats are super common, and on the housing application you specify if you are planning on bringing cats and if you'd like to.live with cats. So even when it's a two or three person, your with cat people.

They're very high on my list! It'll depend on if UT accepts my scholarship appeal letter. We can all be friiiieeeends.
