+1 to what @"CantGetRight" said! My second take was actually 4 points lower than my first, but I stayed resilient and took it a third time when I felt ready. Now I've been accepted to a few top 10 schools ;). It is possible!

Thanks for a wonderful advice. I am currently living outside the states so although I can't really visit my top choice schools anytime soon, I might actually visit and tour if waitlisted!
