I'm no expert on this because I haven't taken the test yet but it generally takes about a few weeks to receive your score. So if you were to take the test in July and apply to schools in the fall you will know you score well in advance.

If you can't guarantee a score increase, or if you just don't want to, then go to Michigan! Michigan is an amazing school. Northwestern is pretty incredible, too. :]
A lot of this seems like good advice, but I don't think any of it should be as restricted to any one score level. In general, I think the same things that get someone to a 160 get you to a 170 or a 180.
