Tutoring Terms of Service

Tutoring Service Definition

7Sage’s Tutoring Services shall consist of remote instruction and, from time to time, other forms of support in order to help the Client prepare for the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT).

Human summary: We tutor. It’s online. You know this.

Tutoring Hours, and How They’re Serviced

After a Client purchases a 5-Hour, 10-Hour, or 20-Hour Package, the Client is entitled to five, ten, or twenty Tutoring Hours. If the Client purchases a package denominated by some other number of hours—say, N hours—the Client is likewise entitled to N Tutoring Hours. 7Sage shall service each Tutoring Hour with an hour of Scheduled Simultaneous Instruction. “Simultaneous Instruction” means live remote instruction conducted via Zoom or some other electronic platform, and by a Tutor affiliated with 7Sage. Something is “Scheduled” if it is conducted in accordance with a plan to which both the Tutor and Client have agreed. 7Sage is not obligated to provide service that is not Scheduled, although 7Sage may from time to time be willing to Schedule something on short notice. 7Sage is not obligated to provide help via email or any means other than Simultaneous Instruction, though 7Sage may from time to time be willing to do so. In some cases, 7Sage will deduct the time a Tutor spends on such activities from the Client’s Tutoring Hours, though 7Sage will never do so without the Client’s permission. Emails primarily pertaining to the Scheduling of Simultaneous Instruction will never count as Tutoring Hours.

Human summary: If you buy, say, ten hours of tutoring, you get ten hours of live instruction, but you don’t get unlimited help via email. We might respond to emailed questions off the clock, but we reserve the right to tell you that our responses will have to be on the clock. Emails about scheduling are never on the clock.

Time Period and Scope of Tutoring Services

The Tutoring Services shall expire when 7Sage has serviced the Client’s Tutoring Hours or a year after the Client’s purchase of said Tutoring Services—whichever comes sooner.

Human summary: Your hours expire after a year.

Scheduling Considerations

A Scheduled session of Simultaneous Instruction is a Tutoring Session. 7Sage cannot guarantee the Client more than three one-hour Tutoring Sessions per week unless the Client and 7Sage make an arrangement for such beforehand. A Business Day is a day that does not fall on the weekend or on an American Federal holiday. 7Sage cannot guarantee the Client a Tutoring Session on a day that is not a Business Day. If a Client requests a Tutoring Session that has not been previously Scheduled, 7Sage cannot guarantee that it will be able to accommodate such a request in fewer than four Business Days.

Human summary: We can’t guarantee you more than three sessions per week unless you arrange it with us before you purchase. After you initially schedule your sessions with us, we may need about a week’s lead time if you need to reschedule. We might not be able to work on weekends or holidays unless you arrange it with us beforehand.

Lateness, No-Shows, and Rescheduling Policy

Unless the Client cancels or reschedules, 7Sage will deduct the duration of a Scheduled Tutoring Session from the Client’s Tutoring Hours, whether or not the Client attends all or part of said Scheduled Tutoring Session. If the Client fails to attend a Scheduled Tutoring Session within 20 minutes of the Tutoring Session’s start time (or 10 minutes of the Coach Session's start time), 7Sage shall consider the Client to be a No-Show and will not continue to wait for the Client. 7Sage will deduct the full time of the Scheduled Tutoring Session from the Client’s Tutoring Hours. 7Sage requires 24 hours of notice to cancel or reschedule a Scheduled Tutoring Session.

Human summary: We require 24 hours to reschedule or cancel a session. If you don’t cancel or reschedule, we’ll deduct a scheduled session from your total time, even if you’re late or a no-show. We’ll wait for you for 20 minutes (or 10 if it's Coach).

Confidentiality

7Sage Tutors may share the Client’s information with other 7Sage Tutors or affiliates of 7Sage for the purpose of better serving the Client. 7Sage shall in all other respects keep the Client’s personal information and test scores confidential unless 7Sage is compelled to divulge information by a sovereign legal authority.

Human summary: Our Tutors might ask their colleagues for advice. Other than that, everything is confidential.

Timely Replies

7Sage will make a good-faith effort to respond to the Client’s emails in a timely fashion and within 48 hours of receipt. After a Client purchases Tutoring Services, 7Sage shall send the Client an Intake Form. Within 48 hours of the Client’s completion of the Intake Form, 7Sage shall match a Client with a Tutor, and the Tutor shall reach out to schedule an introductory, off-the-clock meeting with the Client.

Human summary: You’ll hear from us within 48 hours of submitting your intake materials.

Refund Policy

7Sage shall give the Client a full refund (minus a 6% processing fee) upon request within 14 days of the Client’s purchase so long as the Client has (1) used one hour or less of the Tutoring Services and (2) purchased more than one hour. 7Sage does not offer refunds on one-hour packages that the Client has used. 7Sage does not offer refunds on unused sessions or services.

Human summary: You can test-drive us for an hour and still get your money back (minus 6% for processing) within 14 days. We don’t give refunds of unused sessions.

Chargebacks

In the event that the Client initiates a chargeback dispute with their credit card issuer or financial institution regarding any payment made to 7Sage under the terms of this Agreement, 7Sage shall immediately terminate all services provided under this Agreement.

Human summary: If you dispute our charge to your credit card, we'll immediately cease providing you with services.

No Guarantee of a Score Increase

7Sage makes no guarantee, either implicit or explicit, that the Client’s score will increase either on official or practice LSAT tests after using these Tutoring Services.

Human summary: The header says it all.

Termination

In the event that 7Sage is unable to complete its obligations under the terms of the contract, 7Sage retains the right to terminate this agreement at any time and refund the Client on a prorated basis.

Human summary: If for some reason we can’t finish out your tutoring hours, we can stop the services and refund your unused hours.

Recorded Sessions

7Sage will record Tutoring Sessions for the purpose of improving the Tutoring Services. Copies of the recording may be requested by any student who is featured in the video.

Payment Plans

By entering into a payment plan, users agree to pay the full amount in equal, monthly installments until their balance is paid in full. Failure to make payments on time may result in suspension of service or debt collection against the user.

7Sage Subscription Sold Separately

A purchase of Tutoring Services does not include access to the 7Sage LSAT Course or LSAT LawHub Advantage from LSAC. Both are required to use 7Sage Tutoring Services.

In-Person Class Terms of Service

Scope of Service

7Sage's In-Person Class Program shall consist of direct, face-to-face instruction and, from time to time, virtual instruction and other supplementary materials to aid the Client in preparing for the LSAT.

Class Duration and Scheduling

Each class purchased by the Client will have a predetermined duration and schedule as detailed during the time of purchase. Classes will be conducted at locations specified by 7Sage. Clients are expected to be present at the class venue at the scheduled start time.

Cancellation and Refusal of Service

7Sage reserves the right to cancel a class or refuse service for any reason and at any time. Should this occur, we will fully refund the purchase price of the class to the affected Clients.

Human Summary: We can cancel or refuse a class. If we do, you get your money back.

Attendance Policy

Clients are expected to attend all classes for which they have registered. If a Client misses a class, there will be no makeup class unless otherwise specified by 7Sage.

Conduct in Class

All Clients are expected to maintain a respectful and professional demeanor during classes, and to abide by our code of conduct. Disruptive behavior may result in the Client being asked to leave without a refund.

Materials and Supplies

7Sage may provide certain materials for the class. It is the Client's responsibility to bring any additional supplies or materials as instructed by 7Sage prior to the class.

Human Summary: We'll give you some materials. Bring anything else we tell you to.

Refund Policy for Classes

If a Client wishes to cancel their class registration, we will provide a full refund if the cancellation request is made up to 1 week before the first class. We will grant up to a 50% refund if the cancellation is made until the day before the first class begins. No refunds will be given once the first class has started or thereafter.

No Guarantee of a Score Increase

7Sage cannot guarantee that a Client's score will increase on the LSAT as a result of attending the in-person class program.

Payment for Classes

Clients must pay for classes in full prior to attendance. Payment plans may be available upon request, and Clients who choose a payment plan must agree to make monthly installments until the full amount is paid.

Admissions Terms of Service

Scope of Service

For Admissions Consulting Pro

7Sage will provide editorial guidance and strategic consultation (“Admissions Services”) to help the Client with applications to five or fewer American or Canadian JD programs. The Client will work with two 7Sage consultants.

For Admissions Consulting+

7Sage will provide editorial guidance and strategic consultation (“Admissions Services”) to help the Client with applications to five or fewer American or Canadian JD programs. In addition, 7Sage will provide post-application support on matters of waitlists, interviews, scholarship renegotiation, and school choice. The Client will work with two 7Sage consultants.

For Admissions Consulting Lite

7Sage will provide editorial guidance or strategic consultation (“Admissions Services”) to help the Client with applications to five or fewer American or Canadian JD programs. The client will work with one 7Sage consultant.

For Essay Workshop

7Sage will provide one round of feedback (“Admissions Services”) via phone or video on one essay or other law school admissions document of 1,200 words or fewer.

For Unlimited Edits of an Essay

7Sage will provide the Client with editorial feedback and guidance on every stage of the writing process for one law school admissions document of 1,200 words or fewer, from choosing a topic to revising, subject to the other terms of this agreement (“Admissions Services”).

No U-Turns after Three Rounds or a Three-Week Hiatus

After we perform three rounds of editorial feedback (via email, phone, video call, or any other method) for a given Unlimited Edits package, we won’t start over or change directions on the document covered by that package.

Similarly, if you don’t communicate with us for a period of 21 or more consecutive days, we won’t start over or change directions on the document covered by that package.

For the elimination of doubt, we’ll count any substantial interaction about your essay as a round of feedback, even if we’re not marking up a draft. A conversation or brainstorm about an essay you haven’t yet written, for example, counts as a round of feedback.

Example 1: We provide three rounds of feedback on your personal statement about a legal internship. You decide that you would rather write about running a marathon. We won’t work with you on a new essay about running a marathon, but we’ll help polish your essay about the legal internship.

Example 2: We provide three rounds of feedback on your personal statement about a legal internship. You decide that you would like to add a few lines about your experience of running a marathon. We will help you add those lines about the marathon, though we won’t help you change the focus of the entire essay.

Example 3: We brainstorm a personal statement about a legal internship, then outline a personal statement about running a marathon, then outline a personal statement about a banking internship. We will help you finish the personal statement about the banking internship, but we won’t help you make major changes to the structure or change topics again.

For Mock Admissions Review

7Sage will provide strategic consultation and editorial guidance to help the Client with one application to one American or Canadian JD program. The Admissions Services will consist of one written Mock Review, one 30-minute follow-up call, and one round of proofreading for the application. The Client will work with one 7Sage consultant.

For Hourly Consulting

7Sage will provide Admissions Services in the form of strategic consultation and/or editorial guidance by the hour. We’ll track our time to the nearest minute and let you know how much time you have left after each interaction.

After your hourly purchase, you’ll receive a welcome email. When you reply, a 7Sage manager will read over your response in order to pair you with a consultant. This reading time is not on the clock. All of your consultant’s work time, however, is on the clock, including the time they spend reading your initial email.

Example: You want help with a character and fitness issue. You send us an explanation of a disciplinary incident and ask what to do. A 7Sage manager reads over your email and pairs you with Conny Consultant. This pairing process does not count against your time.

After you’ve been paired, Conny will start the clock as she reads your initial email and formulates a response.

We ask all new clients for a résumé. Unless you ask for feedback on your résumé, though, we’ll only take a minute or two to glance over it. This orients us without taking much of your time.

We will not perform written feedback on a new document if you don’t have at least 45 minutes left.

Switching Consultants

You may request to spend different portions of your hour with different consultants. We will accommodate such requests if possible, but your new consultant will probably have to spend some time getting up to speed. That time will be on the clock.

For After-the-App Support

7Sage will provide Admissions Services in the form of strategic and editorial guidance on interview preparation, waitlist strategy, letters of continuing interest, financial aid and scholarship negotiation, school selection, and correspondence with law school admissions officers, for up to five schools.

Single Final Draft

For Unlimited Edits of an Essay, we’ll work towards a single final draft of each covered document, not different versions for different schools.

We consider each part of a multi-part essay to be a separate document. Unlimited Edits of an Essay will only cover one part.

Example: Western Law (in Ontario, Canada) calls for a personal statement to consist of two parts, A and B. Despite the fact that Western Law represents Parts A and B as different aspects of one personal statement, Unlimited Edits of an Essay will only cover a document in response to Prompt A or a document in response to Prompt B.

In a nutshell: one prompt = one document.

Covered Schools

For Admissions Consulting Pro, Admissions Consulting+, and Admissions Consulting Lite (collectively, the “Consulting Packages”), 7Sage and the Client will agree on a list of schools (“Covered Schools”) for which 7Sage will provide Admissions Services. 7Sage will not be obligated to provide Admissions Services for additional law schools, although the Client may apply to additional law schools without 7Sage’s help.

If 7Sage and the Client do not explicitly decide on the Client’s Covered Schools, the Covered Schools shall consist of the first five schools to which the Client receives 7Sage’s help after the execution of this Agreement.

The Client will only receive feedback from the consultants with whom they are paired. The Client will not receive feedback or advice from any other 7Sage consultants.

Admissions and Writing Consultants

For Admissions Consulting Pro and Admissions Consulting+, the Writing Consultant shall edit the Client’s documents. The Admissions Consultant shall sign off on the plan or the initial outline for each Major Document*, and the Admissions Consultant shall briefly review a later draft of each such Document.

In general, a Client should expect to interact more with the Writing Consultant than with the Admissions Consultant in Admissions Consulting Pro and Admissions Consulting+ packages. Should a Client wish to interact more with one professional writer, the Client should elect Admissions Consulting Lite, in which case the Client shall be paired solely with a professional writer.

*The Major Documents consist of the essays and documents specified in the “Attachments” section of an LSAC application, and usually consist of a personal statement and one or more optional essays.

Human summary: If you work simultaneously with both with a writer and a former law school admissions officer, the writer will be your Writing consultant and the former law school admissions officer will be your supervisor.

Time Period

Admissions Consulting Pro

Admissions Consulting Pro is intended to cover five applications in a single admissions cycle unless the Client Delays.

If the Client purchases Admissions Consulting Pro, the Admissions Services shall end as soon as any of the following events occur:

  1. The Client submits five applications to Covered Schools
  2. Six months elapse after the Client submits the first application to a Covered School
  3. One year elapses after the Client begins to use the Admissions Services, unless the Client Delays (see Delays )
  4. Three years elapse after the Client purchases the Admissions Services

Admissions Consulting+

Admissions Consulting+ is intended to cover five applications in a single admissions cycle as well as post-application support unless the Client Delays.

If the Client purchases Admissions Consulting+, the Admissions Services shall end as soon as any of the following events occur:

  1. The last day elapses of the August following the Client’s first application to a Covered School
  2. Eighteen months elapse after the Client begins to use the Admissions Services, unless the Client Delays (see Delays )
  3. Three years elapse after the Client purchases the Admissions Services

Admissions Consulting Lite

Admissions Consulting Lite is intended to cover applications to five law schools in a single admissions cycle.

If the Client purchases Admissions Consulting Lite, the Admissions Services shall end as soon as any of the following events occur:

  1. The Client submits five applications to Covered Schools
  2. Six months elapse after the Client submits the first application to a Covered School
  3. One year elapses after the Client begins to use the Admissions Services, unless the Client Delays.
  4. Three years elapse after the Client purchases the Admissions Services

After-the-App Support

After-the-App support ends on the last day of the August that follows the Client’s purchase. The client may not Delay.

Example 1: You purchase After-the-App Support in October of 2023 and work with your consultants on and off from February 2024, when your results start rolling in, to April 2024, when you put down your seat deposit. Your Admissions Services expire on August 31, 2024.

Example 2: You purchase After-the-App Support in October of 2023, but come March, you have not gotten into any schools you want to go to. You may not delay 7Sage’s Admissions Services to the following cycle; your After-the-App package will still expire on August 31, 2024.

Essay Workshop

If you don’t send us a draft of your admissions document within one year, your Essay Workshop package expires.

Mock Admissions Review

The Mock Admissions Review can only be used within the admissions cycle for which it was purchased. If the Client does not send us an application for review within the admissions cycle for which the Client purchased it, the Mock Admissions Review will expire on the last day of August of that admissions cycle.

For example, if you purchase a Mock Admissions Review in October 2023 with the intention of submitting your application during the 2023–2024 admissions season, your Mock Admissions Review will expire on August 31, 2024.

You may also purchase a Mock Admissions Review prior to an admissions cycle during which you intend to use it. For example, you may purchase a Mock Admissions Review in July 2023 with the intention of using it for your applications for the 2023–2024 cycle. In this case, your Mock Admissions Review would expire on August 31, 2024.

Unlimited Edits of an Essay

The Unlimited Edits of an Essay package expires after one year. For the elimination of doubt, we will no longer be obligated to perform any further Admissions Services a year after your purchase, even if you haven’t received a Final Proofread.

Hourly Consulting

Hourly consulting expires one year after it was purchased. For the elimination of doubt, we will no longer be obligated to perform any further Admissions Services a year after your purchase, even if you haven’t received a Final Proofread.

Enumeration of Admissions Services

7Sage’s Admissions Services will consist of the following:

  • Editorial guidance on correspondence with law school admissions officers to a Covered School before the submission of an application to that school
  • Review of Client’s Applications

  • After the written review, we guarantee one follow-up call of at least 30 minutes if you request such a phone call and if you want to speak for 30 minutes

Timely Replies

7Sage will make a good-faith effort to respond to the Client’s emails and phone calls in a timely fashion, and to provide editorial feedback on the Client’s Documents within 48 hours of receipt. If 7Sage receives a Document outside of 7Sage’s normal business hours (9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday through Friday) or on an American holiday, 7Sage may from time to time take longer than 48 hours. Likewise, if a Client sends a document that, to fulfill the 48-hour requirement, would ordinarily be due outside of 7Sage’s normal business hours, 7Sage may occasionally take longer than 48 hours. 7Sage will make a good-faith effort to warn the Client in advance if 7Sage anticipates that editorial feedback shall take longer than 48 hours.

Confidentiality

7Sage will keep the Client’s Documents and personal information confidential. 7Sage editors and consultants may share the Client’s Documents and information with other 7Sage editors and consultants. 7Sage may also share the Client’s documents with third-party proofreaders for the purpose of proofreading.

What’s Not Included

7Sage’s Admissions Services do not include the following unless provided for in a separate agreement:

  1. Writing original content or preparing application Documents on behalf of the Client
  2. Fact-checking the Client’s documents
  3. Performing research for the Client
  4. Editorial work on Documents that have been edited or critiqued by a third party after the Admissions Services commence
  5. Editing letters of recommendation (although 7Sage will provide advice about recommendations)
  6. Editorial work on any Document more than 500 percent longer than a School’s stated length guideline
  7. Logging onto LSAC’s website or any other website with the Client’s credentials
  8. Assistance on applications to joint-degree or dual-degree (“Concurrent Degree”) programs, such as MBA or LLM programs. (If the Client applies to a Concurrent Degree program, 7Sage will only help with the JD application. 7Sage will not help the Client write or adapt JD essays for use in a Concurrent Degree application.)
  9. Assistance on applications to programs available only to admitted students, such as Georgetown’s Global Law Scholars Program
  10. Assistance on applications for external or third-party scholarships
  11. Help on FAFSA applications
  12. Direct interaction with law school admissions offices, financial aid offices, student organizations, or visa authorities on the Client’s behalf
  13. Help on LSAT accommodation requests
  14. Conversations with the Client’s parents or relatives, or with anyone other than the Client
  15. Feedback from 7Sage consultants other than the Client’s Writing and/or Admissions consultants
  16. Help from a writer if you are working solely with a former admissions officer
  17. Help from a former admissions officer if you are working solely with a writer
  18. Feedback on documents containing any text generated by ChatGPT or other AI-based programs

If the Client has not purchased After-the-App Support, 7Sage will not help with a given school after the Client has submitted an application to that school. In particular, if the Client has not purchased After-the-App Support, 7Sage will not help with the following:

  • Advice about a Covered School after the Client has submitted an application to that school
  • Editorial assistance on documents to a Covered School after the Client has submitted an application to that school

Proofreading Documents

After the Client and 7Sage are both satisfied that a given Document (e.g., a personal statement) is finished, 7Sage shall offer to perform a Final Proofread on said Document with the Client’s consent. The Final Proofread will be performed by a third-party proofreader, not the Consultant.

The Proofread Is Not an Edit

Our proofread will not include any suggestions, advice, or feedback on your revisions. The proofread only covers grammar, typos, spelling mistakes, punctuation errors, and usage errors.

The Proofread Is Not a Fact Check

7Sage will not fact-check the Client’s Documents and is not responsible for any factual errors.

The Proofreaders Are Human

Though our proofreaders are highly skilled and work hard to ensure accuracy, they are also capable of error. 7Sage cannot guarantee that the proofread Document will be error-free. It is ultimately the Client’s responsibility to double-check Documents for errors prior to submitting their applications.

Proofreading Policy for Consulting Packages (Admissions Consulting Pro, Admissions Consulting+, Admissions Consulting Lite, and/or After-the-App)

After the Final Proofread of a given Document, the Document shall be Finalized. If the Client has purchased one of the Consulting Packages, 7Sage may help the Client tailor a Finalized Document to a Covered School but will not otherwise replace or perform Admissions Services on the Finalized Document.

Example 1: The Client Finalizes a three-page personal statement for School A. The Client also wants to apply to School B, which requires two-page personal statements. 7Sage shall help the Client produce a two-page version of her personal statement.

Example 2: The Client Finalizes a personal statement for School A but wants to tailor it to School B. 7Sage shall help the client add a school-specific paragraph for School B.

Example 3: The Client Finalizes a personal statement about her experience as a legal intern but later decides that she really wants to write about bird watching. 7Sage shall not be obligated to help the Client write a new personal statement about bird watching.

Human summary: When we both agree that an essay is done, we’ll do a Final Proofread. After that, we won’t replace the essay or do any more edits on the essay unless the edits are necessary to tailor it for a given school.

Payment

The Client agrees to pay for 7Sage’s Admissions Services in full, if the Client has not already done so, according to a schedule agreed upon by the Client and 7Sage (the “Payment Plan”).

If the Client has agreed to a Payment Plan with 7Sage, 7Sage will periodically send emails to the client with links to an online payment portal (“Invoices”). Payment is to be made within 15 days of each Invoice. Any payment after the due date is subject to 2% interest per month.

7Sage does not allow the Client to “downgrade” from the Consulting package to another editing package.

No-Shows and Late Cancellations

The Client agrees to provide at least 24-hours notice before cancelling any meeting. If the Client misses two meetings without giving at least 24-hours notice, we reserve the right to terminate the service without issuing a refund.

Essay Workshop clients who miss their scheduled meeting or fail to give 24-hours notice before cancelling those meetings will forfeit their payment for the service and cannot reschedule.

Refunds

7Sage offers a qualified six-day refund policy. If the Client requests a refund within six days of payment, the Client shall be entitled to a full refund less $250 per hour of 7Sage’s work time and less a 6% processing fee. For example, if we’ve spent half an hour with you, we can refund your purchase less $125 + 6% of the total cost for processing. The Client acknowledges that this refund policy will govern even if the Client encounters unforeseen circumstances.

From time to time, 7Sage may be sold out and offer potential Clients a spot on a Waitlist. If 7Sage has offered a consulting or editorial package from a Waitlist and the Client has purchased from said Waitlist, such purchase will not be eligible for any refund unless otherwise noted.

7Sage shall not be obligated to refund the Client if and because the Client is disappointed by the results of their Applications.

Human summary: You can ask for a refund within six days, but we’ll charge you $250 per hour for any work we may have already done, plus a 6% processing fee.

Chargebacks

In the event that the Client initiates a chargeback dispute with their credit card issuer or financial institution regarding any payment made to 7Sage under the terms of this Agreement, 7Sage shall immediately terminate all services provided under this Agreement.

Termination

7Sage reserves the right to terminate this Agreement at any time if the Client misrepresents facts about themself, acts egregiously, becomes hostile, proves impossible to satisfy, maintains unreasonable expectations, or makes unreasonable demands despite 7Sage’s good-faith efforts. In such cases, 7Sage shall refund the Client on a prorated basis.

Delays (for the Consulting Packages)

From time to time, a Client may decide to submit applications in a later application cycle than they originally intended.

The Client may Delay 7Sage’s Admissions Services if the Client has not started to work on more than two different Documents with 7Sage OR their consultants have spent less than six hours, collectively, performing services associated with the package.

The Client may only Delay if they have purchased one of the Consulting Packages (Admissions Consulting Pro, Admissions Consulting+, Admissions Consulting Lite). The Client may NOT delay a standalone After-the-App Support package.

Example 1: IF the Client has done some amount of work with 7Sage on a personal statement and diversity statement, THEN the Client may Delay.

Example 2: IF the Client has done some amount of work with 7Sage on a personal statement, diversity statement, and résumé, THEN the Client may NOT Delay.

If the Client has discussed or brainstormed a Document with 7Sage—either on the phone or by responding to written prompts or questions—7Sage shall consider that the Client has begun to work on that Document.

If the Client has brainstormed with 7Sage or discussed the Client’s story, but has not explicitly specified what Document the discussion or brainstorm shall apply to, 7Sage shall consider that the Client has begun work on the Client’s personal statement.

If the Client has (1) purchased another 7Sage service (e.g. Unlimited Edits of an Essay), (2) begun to work on a Document with that previous package, and (3) purchased one of the Consulting Packages that includes work on the original Document, 7Sage shall consider that the Client has begun to work on the Document that the Client started writing under the previous package.

If the Client Delays, the Admissions Services shall not necessarily end one year (in the case of Admissions Consulting Pro) or eighteen months (in the case of Admissions Consulting+) after the Client begins to use the Admissions Services.

  1. If the Client Delays Admissions Consulting Pro, the Services shall instead end…
  2. After the Client submits five applications to Covered Schools, OR
  3. Six months after the Client submits the first application to a Covered School, OR
  4. One year after the Client resumes working with 7Sage, OR
  5. Three years after the Client purchases the Services.
  6. If the Client Delays Admissions Consulting+, the Services shall instead end…
  7. On the last day of the August that follows the Client’s first application to a Covered School, OR
  8. A year and a half (eighteen months) after the Client Resumes the Services, OR
  9. Three years after the Client purchases the Services.

In case of delays, the following conditions shall apply:

  1. The Client shall inform 7Sage of their intention to Delay by February 1 of the cycle in which they began using the Services. After February 1, the Client may not Delay.
  2. 7Sage shall Finalize all Documents on which 7Sage has already performed any Services within 30 days of the Client notifying 7Sage of their intention to Delay.
  3. 7Sage shall consider that the Client has Resumed the Services when—after finishing all in-progress Documents and Delaying—the Client next uses 7Sage’s Services.
  4. The Client may not Resume Services until the July 1 that follows their decision to Delay, but may choose to Resume Services at any point after July 1.
  5. For the purposes of this agreement, the Client may only Delay once.
  6. When the Client Resumes, the Client’s Services shall be subject to the most recent version of this Agreement, even if the Client began the Services under an earlier version of this Agreement.
  7. 7Sage cannot guarantee that the Client will be paired with the same Consultant or Consultants when the Client Resumes.
  8. If the Client is paying for their service on an installment plan, the Client must continue making payments according to their original payment schedule and may not delay those payments until the next cycle.
  9. The Client cannot resume the Service until they have paid their full balance.

Human summary: If you’ve started working on two documents or fewer, you can delay your admissions cycle, but you have to finalize what you started before you take a break. For example, if we’re working on your personal statement, you have to finalize the personal statement within 30 days. We won’t be able to help you with a new personal statement or change your personal statement next cycle except to tailor it to each school.

If you haven’t started a given essay before you delay, we can work on it with you later.

You have to tell us by February 1 if you’re going to delay, you can resume on July 1, and you can only delay your admissions cycle once.

Disengagement

No Revising Unfinished Documents after a Period of Disengagement

If a Client Disengages, 7Sage shall not make Substantial Revisions to any Documents on which 7Sage has already performed Services. Substantial Revisions are defined as any Service beyond proofreading for grammar, typos, punctuation errors, and usage mistakes.

Unlimited Edits of an Essay

For Unlimited Edits of an Essay, 7Sage shall consider that a Client has Disengaged if (1) 7Sage has given the Client feedback or suggestions on a Document as part of this Unlimited Edits package and (2) the Client has not sent 7Sage a new draft of the Document for 45 days or more.

Note that you can purchase this service and wait more than 45 days before you start. It’s just that once you do start, you have to keep going.

Human summary: Once we start, you can’t take a break of 45 days or more.

Consulting Packages (Admissions Consulting Pro, Admissions Consulting+, Five Schools with a Writer, and Five Schools with an Admissions Officer)

7Sage shall consider that a Client has Disengaged if (1) 7Sage has ever given the Client feedback or suggestions for at least one Document and (2) the Client has not sent 7Sage a new draft of ANY Document for 45 days or more.

Example 1: 7Sage sends the Client feedback on a personal statement. The Client does not communicate to 7Sage for 45 days except to write, “Thanks, I’ll think about it.”

The Client has Disengaged. 7Sage will proofread the personal statement but won’t otherwise revise it or help the Client write a new one.

Example 2: 7Sage sends the Client feedback on a personal statement. The Client does not respond to that email for 45 days but DOES send a draft of a diversity statement within 45 days.

The Client is still actively engaged. 7Sage shall help the Client complete both the personal statement and the diversity statement.

Human summary: If you stop working actively on your applications, we’ll proofread documents we’ve already started, but we won’t otherwise work on or replace them.

Acknowledgments

The Client’s LSAT scores, undergraduate GPA, professional background, disciplinary record, and many factors over which 7Sage has no control will constrain and affect the Client’s chances of admission to law school. 7Sage makes no guarantee, either explicit or implicit, that the Client will be admitted to any particular law school.

Law school application requirements and the processes by which law schools admit applicants may change from year to year, and 7Sage may from time to time be unaware of such changes.

The application to Yale Law School asks if you received assistance in preparing your application. If the answer is “yes,” Yale asks you to specify from whom you received the assistance, the nature of the assistance, and whether or not you paid for the assistance. Answering “yes” may impact your chances of acceptance to Yale.

Human summary: We’ll do our best to help you, but some of this is out of our control. We don’t guarantee that you’ll get accepted anywhere.

No Warranty

7Sage provides, in addition to the aforementioned Services, information and guidance about law school admissions in the form of online lessons, videos, webinars, documents, and other forms of communication (“Materials”). 7Sage does not make any warranty of any kind (expressed or implied) as to the results that may be obtained from use of its Materials or Services. In particular, 7Sage does not guarantee that the Materials or Services will result in acceptance to law school or any other academic institution, or that the Materials or Services will result in an offer of financial aid. 7Sage’s Materials and Services are provided “AS IS,” and 7Sage does not guarantee that they are accurate or current.

Legal Stuff

Severability

If any provision of this Agreement is void or unenforceable, such provision shall be deemed omitted and the remainder of this Agreement shall remain in full force and effect.

Assignment

7Sage shall have the right, at its election, to assign this Agreement to any person, firm, or corporation, including all 7Sage employees, contractors, shareholders, parent entities, subsidiaries, and affiliates. The Client may not assign its rights under this Agreement under any circumstances.

Integration

This Agreement constitutes the sole Agreement of the parties hereto and correctly states the rights, duties, and obligations of each party. Any prior agreement, promises, negotiations, or representations between the parties not expressly stated in this document are not binding. All subsequent modifications shall be in writing and agreed to by both parties.

Indemnification

7Sage is not responsible for any loss, injury, claim, liability, or damage (including a rejection from any law school or a decrease in the Client’s LSAT score) related to the Client’s use of the Materials or Services. The Client agrees to protect, indemnify, save, defend, and hold harmless 7Sage, its affiliates, subsidiaries, parent entities, and partners, and each of their assigns, agents, representatives, officers, directors, shareholders, contractors, and employees from and against any and all expenses, damages, claims, suits, actions, judgments, costs, and expenses whatsoever (including reasonable attorney’s fees), arising out of, or in any way connected with (1) any breach of this Agreement; and/or (2) any acts or omissions of the Client. In the event 7Sage expends any monies in an effort to enforce the terms and conditions of this Agreement, the Client shall reimburse 7Sage for all of the said costs and expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees).
