Application requirements
The mission of Seattle University School of Law is to seek and support a diverse and distinguished group of students and immerse them in the legal knowledge and skills needed to solve real-world problems. We develop leaders who make a difference for their clients and communities.
The personal statement is your opportunity to share your unique voice and perspectives. Your statement should detail how your lived experiences have motivated or prepared you to attend law school and how your goals and values align with our mission. We encourage you to discuss challenges overcome, leadership roles undertaken, special skills you possess or any other personal or professional information you wish to highlight.
Please attach a personal statement of no more than two pages, typed, double-spaced using a font size no smaller than 11-point. Clearly label the attachment "Personal Statement."
This section is optional.
If you wish to address any special circumstances or add any information not contained elsewhere in this application, please attach a typed addendum using a font size no smaller than 11-point. Clearly label the attachment "Optional Addendum."
Please attach a current résumé. We encourage you to list academic history first on your résumé.
You are encouraged to answer the following questions to the best of your ability. Admission to law school does not guarantee automatic admission to a state's bar.
In addition to a bar examination, there are character, fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission by contacting the jurisdiction. Addresses for all relevant agencies are available through the National Conference of Bar Examiners.
