Inside scoop

User Avatar Ethan Madore

UChicago Law is another top T14 institution whose undergraduate brand seeps into its law school identity. UChicago students are typically more comfortable being outside of the current progressive consensus. They’re intellectuals who value stark disagreements, strong arguments, and deeper dives into theory than students at other top schools. UChicago is of course famous for economics and there’s a decent economic-theory bent to its law school offerings and vibe.

UChicago looks for students who can do two things: relish argument and legal theory for their own sake and chase excellent positions and results through a masterful understanding of legal career paths.

Why UChicago

User Avatar Ethan Madore

UChicago Law’s class size is small and its culture is faculty-driven. You might want to be a Chicago Law student if you often find yourself outside of typical ideological consensus and looking for opportunities to cut your teeth in genuine arguments and in spaces that value self-expression.

Chicago has among the best clerkship outcomes in the country and is always included in the unchanging ‘T6’ that’s based more on long-term reputations than fluctuations of US News ranks. Although Chicago isn’t the market everyone wants to end up in, Chicago Law has national reach.
