A Personal Statement is required.
This section is optional.
All applicants are invited, but not required, to submit an additional essay that addresses one of the following prompts. The additional essay should not exceed two pages.
- What, if any, connections do you have to the state of South Dakota or the region? Why are you interested in USD Law?
- How do you envision leveraging your JD to contribute to creating a more equitable society?
- What personal experiences or aspirations motivated your decision to pursue a legal education?
- What unique qualities or experiences do you bring to the table as an applicant, and how do they distinguish you from others?

Have you ever been charged or convicted of any felony or misdemeanor, petty or other offense, including moving traffic violations? Include all incidents no matter how minor the infraction, whether expunged or suspended imposition of sentence. Juvenile proceedings must be included.

Has any higher education institution, professional licensing organization, governmental or administrative agency (including any branch of the Armed Forces) or employer ever taken disciplinary action (including, but not limited to, reprimand, revocation, less than honorable discharge, academic probation or suspension) against you?
