I'd assume if you called they would tell you pretty much what the status checker says. Not that it would be bad to try but I dont think it would get you any real answer. Apps just take time sometime

another good way to check is to go to lawschoolnumbers.com, select the school, and then sort through the applicants and see how many people have heard back, when they submitted, etc. if you still are having trouble and want a direct answer, just call the school and check on the status of your application.

If you go on TLS forums there is a thread for basically every major school's applicants this year and many post when they went under review and when they got their decision. Its a good way to get an idea of the average time a school takes to give a decision.

@as5324392 do you mean they sit in a room and have 5-7 application on a desk and pick in chunks?

more that they make decisions and send the "admitted" emails/phone calls in waves (ie. NYU may make 50 admitted calls Dec 15 and then wait till Feb 1 for the next "wave")

rejections aren't really in waves and more handed out as they decide

normally if they decided no you will find out sooner than later. So if you haven't heard back yet it most likely is because the review isnt completed and they haven't made a decision yet

No rule of thumb, things work differently at every school. Some admit on waves, others go app by app. They might be holding you without officially stating it. If you dropped around Xmas or right after gray day there is a huge backlog at many schools. Some schools will have under review for a couple months and your app never gets seen until the last week of that. Other schools will note that you're in the queue to be reviewed and not actually being reviewed. Just kick back and relax. Nothing to get worked up about until you actually get movement.
