Any Iranian-American/Canadian here?
I just received this email, assuming because my profile includes my Iranian citizenship as well as Canadian. I also tried to login to LSAC and it says "account blocked". I'm a canadian citizen and live in Canada and I'm also registered for the October test! I've emailed them but I can't stop freaking out!! Any help is appreciated! 😭

I'm sorry this is happening. Speaking outside of my 7Sage capacity here and only in my capacity as a former lawyer and concerned person who has done 30 minutes of research, but I think the best way forward is to contact the email provided and show that you are (1) not located in Iran, and (2) are not ordinarily a resident of Iran.
Consider these factors in showing that you're not ordinarily a resident of Iran.
How long and continuously you've have lived outside of Iran
Home address, lease, or mortgage
Employment or school enrollment
Tax residence
Permanent-resident or immigration status
I believe LSAC is trying to adhere to the suspension of Iran License G available here (https://ofac.treasury.gov/selected-general-licenses-issued-ofac). License G, paragraph (b)(4) authorizes:
I suspect LSAC may have used Iranian citizenship as an intentionally overinclusive proxy for who might be located in Iran or ordinarily resident in Iran, and is putting the burden on users to show they aren't currently or ordinarily residents of Iran.
DISCLAIMER: This is not legal advice.
EDIT: Some confirmation in a Reddit post that LSAC will ask for evidence that you're not in Iran. https://www.reddit.com/r/LSAT/comments/1wcgxap/update_if_contacted_lsac_compliance_will_inform/
@Kevin_Lin thank you Kevin!
And you were absolutely correct. They just replied to my email, saying that once I provide my Canadian passport and sign an attestetation affirming that I live in Canada and have no ties to Iran, they will unblock my account.
And thank you everyone for all your support and kind words over the last 12 hours! I had quite a scare!
No help to offer, unfortunately. I am so sorry. This is incredibly unfair. I hope that, after review of your Canadian citizenship, this decision will be reversed!!
I don't have anything helpful to offer, but I just want to say that this is an awful situation and I am so sorry you're going through this! I hope you're able to take the October test as planned, and I hope this situation is resolved for all Iranian law school applicants! How incredibly unfair to have your career path potentially obstructed simply because of your heritage!!
@KV Sharing this here in case you (or anyone else potentially affected) doesn't see this on the subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/LSAT/comments/1wc3lz3/iranians_who_are_suspended_from_lsac_read/
@KV I really appreciate your support! ❤️ It really is unfair!
And thank you soooo much for this reddit post! I was following another subreddit and funny enough when I google this one from LSAT sub it wont show up on my google search 😳 so this is super helpful! 🙏
That is crazy. There must be a way to get through this
