Hi everyone,

I am looking for a tutor to help me prepare for the January LSAT.

My Stats & Goals: I just scored a 145 on the October LSAT, and my goal is a 165. However, my Blind Review and untimed PT scores consistently sit in the 158–165 range.

My Roadblock: I have a very strong grasp of foundational logic and theory. My 15-to-20 point gap is entirely behavioral and stems from time pressure. When the clock is running, my process breaks down. Specifically:

  • Sunk-Cost Ego Battles: I struggle to skip heavy Level 4/5 time-sinks (like Parallel Reasoning or dense RC Analogies). I end up spending 3+ minutes on single questions, which starves me of time for the easy points.

  • Abandoning Pre-phrasing: Under pressure, I drop my habit of covering the answers and translating the gap, allowing the LSAT to bait me with familiar trap words.

  • RC Panic-Skimming: When I feel rushed, I abandon my structural summaries and start trying to memorize facts rather than tracking the author's attitude/debate.

  • Answer Choices: Breaking the habit of picking what "sounds right," and instead ruthlessly eliminating the 4 wrong answers for objective fatal flaws.

What I Need: I have a strong grasp of foundational logic and theory. My 15-to-20 point gap is entirely behavioral. Under time pressure, I revert to bad habits and panic-reading. I am looking for a tutor to help me fundamentally rewire how I think about and interact with the test.

I am not looking for someone to teach me basic conditional logic from scratch. I need a coach who can watch me take timed sections, hold me strictly accountable to my time caps, and help me solidify this new test-taker mindset.

If your tutoring style focuses on execution, behavioral coaching, and clock management, I would love to hear from you! Please reach out with your rates and availability.

Hi Chloe, if you are open to alternative suggestions, I would push back on the claims that you have a very strong grasp of foundational logic and theory and that your gap is entirely behavioral. If you have a very strong grasp, you simply will not score a 145 regardless of how much you panic. I would suggest not letting AI convince you that a 20 point gap can be closed by simply behavioral changes. I might be wrong, of course, because I don't know your situation fully, but I strongly encourage you to consider what I'm saying. I've seen this misconception before, the idea that a student has a "strong foundation" if there is a big gap between BR and timed score, especially when asking AI for help (it tends to give you a more flattering answer). BR score is often not a great indicator of what you know; it makes things a lot easier. If you can consistently score in the high 160s untimed, i'll believe you that your foundation is solid. From there, i think the best move is to critically review your sections and notice which answer choices on which problems are your time sinks, and making a note of the patterns behind incorrect answers so that you can eliminate them more confidently in the future. Feel free to reach out to me if you end up trying your approach and it doesn't work, but otherwise, best of luck. To reiterate, I'm not saying your approach is definitively wrong, i'm just speaking from personal experience in terms of what worked for me!
