Are there any 7Sage, Reddit or other discussions/tutorials/lessons about translating English to Lawgic?

The Lawgic lessons were so easy for me to grasp. Super easy. Then I watch some LR videos where YC transfers English to Lawgic and it doesn’t click what so ever. On super simple LR questions in the CC I would find the correct answer by simply thinking about the words and what I need to do. I then try to transfer it into Lawgic and my markings are not similar to YC’s. When YC chains multiple things it doesn’t click why a sufficient on one would be the necessary on another.

I’ve noticed many comments in the CC of people also having hard time with common threads of “when do I use Lawgic?” As well as plenty of people that totally dismiss Lawgic except in the hardest of LR questions so it seems I am not alone.

When do you use Lawgic in LR?

Do you consistently transfer English to Lawgic when you do?

Are there any resources you recommend?

Or is this simply experience with trial and error?

I can see a significant benefit by translating English to Lawgic but only if it is consistently accurate.

Is there a summary of all of the different question types for LR that briefly explains the strategy for handling each of them? I am not opposed to putting one together myself, but if there is already one available, well then that saves me some time!! Thank you.

quick question, is it correct to say, when there are only two options (like an in-out game), to translate "a and b cannot be on the same day (or whatever it may be)", then you use bi-conditionals. But if there are more than 2 game boards or possibilities, than you translate it as "not equal"

Hey 7Sagers,

Here's the official June 2019 LSAT Discussion Thread.

**Please keep all discussions of the June 2019 LSAT here!**(/red)

Rules:

You can identify experimental sections. 🙆‍♀️

You can say things such as the following:

  • I had two LGs! Was the LG with "flowers" real or experimental?
  • I had two RCs! Was the section that starts with the honeybee passage real?
  • I had three LRs! Does anyone know if the first LR section with the goose question is real?”
  • You can't discuss specific questions. 🙅‍♂️

You CANNOT say things such as the following:

  • Hey, the 3rd LG was sequencing and the last one was In/Out, right?” (Don't mention the game type)
  • The last question in the first LR section was a lawgic heavy MBT! Was the answer (B)?” (Don't mention the question type or ask what the answer was)
  • What was the answer for the last question of RC? I think it was an inference question? Was the answer (C)?” (Don't mention the question type or ask what the answer was)
  • Have fun discussing!

    LG Hypothetical Mess Up

    Hey Guys,

Is it possible to mess up one rule in a sequencing game, but go through all the questions without even realizing it???

Why I ask this is because: I was doing PT 43 S4 Game 2, and i messed up the last rule where VZ row closer than O. Instead I diagrammed as VL row closer than O.

The questions never made me realize I committed this fatal error, until question 12 (the very last question of the game) where i realized my big mess up.

Now the question is, is it possible that maybe in a future LG, I will just never realize i diagrammed one rule incorrectly and get alllllll the questions wrong in a simple sequencing game???

    Types of Games

    Hi,

Could someone tell me if 7Sage helps with understanding the types of games you encounter on the LG section? This seem to be one of my main barriers for the LG portion. Any suggestions?

Hi all, could someone please help me with this question? Its a small grammar thing, but I am stuck!

Obviously, we cannot in any real sense mistreat plants (MP). Plants do not have nervous systems (NS), and having a nervous system is necessary to experience pain. (EP)

The conclusion above follows logically if which one of the following is assumed?__

    P: EP -> NS

    Plants: /NS

    So, /NS -> /EP

    C: /MP

    A: /NS -> /EP -> /MP

Or, MP -> EP -> NS

I think I know why the correct answer is: "Only organisms that can experience pain can be mistreated". But the other answer choices use the word "any" instead of "only". Is there a difference in the two for sufficient assumption questions ?

    Thank you so much!

    Sample of Writing Sample

I was wondering of any of you would be able to recommend a good source for writing samples. I would like to see actual examples of this assignment. I an foreign educated and never took SAT, I have a very vague idea of how this sample should look like.

I will greatly appreciate if any of you can recommend a good resource.

    Vancouver, BC Study Group

    Hi everyone!

Is anyone in the Vancouver BC area interested in starting a study group? I usually study at BCIT, but am willing to go to UBC/kits/downtown or to SFU! Studying for July but am also writing in September

    0

    Hey guys!

I am taking the July exam and have been scoring a 164 for the past several practice tests. Reading comp is my worst section, and I fluctuate between -8/-12. On logical reasoning I score between a -6/-8 on one section and a -2/-3 on the other. Thankfully, I have logic games under control. Any tips on how I can break the plateau and make the most out of the remaining month before the exam?

    Thank you in advance!

    hey all,

i've been drilling RC for a few weeks, and I've been facing lots of fluctuations in RC. My timed score can range from like -4 to -7. My BR scores range from like -2 to -7.

I get really happy when I see a BR score of -2, but then really sad when I see a BR score of like -7.

How long did it take ppl to get consistent with RC - where they're consistently hitting like -1/-2? It's kinda frustrating to see this kind of fluctuation. And any advice on how to get there? Thanks!

    #help with improving score

I am getting discouraged. I have been studying since January and did the CC really slow and in-depth so I could learn it better. Now I am taking preptests and reviewing only. My diagnostic score was 150. I have taken 3 other prep tests scoring: 156, 153, 154. I never know how to improve my score after taking the prep tests. I would really like to get high 150s and max 160 if possible. I'm taking the july LSAT.

I need tips for studying and how to improve. Also, the reality of if I can improve that much before july?

    Current LGs

    Hi all!

So I just finished PT 79 & 80, which each had the weird misc games. In one of the videos, JY mentions that these weird ones are now pretty typical.

What test # are we on now? 90-something? And are these misc games still common to see in each test? (I don’t have the Ultimate package, so will just know the 10 Actuals up to 81 situation)

    Many thanks.

    Digital Writing Section

Hi everyone! I took my first LSAT on June 3rd, so I do not have a writing sample on file. Do I need to complete the new digital writing section before scores are released on the 27th in order to receive my score? I can't find anything on the FAQ, but I've heard that you have to before you get a score.

To diagram or not to diagram in LR

    Hi,

How do you decide whether or not to diagram a particular LR question?

I often over-diagraming. There were several questions in recent PTs where I thought I must diagram, I did, only to realize later that it was a wast of time. The flaws were in quantity terminology (many, some, all etc.) or specific words rather than chain of reasoning.

    Any tips?

    Thanks.

Most of the time when I slow down and read the question aloud I understand the logic and the reasoning. But when I try to do problem sets under timed conditions I wind up getting most of the hard questions (160+) incorrect. It feels like I just don't comprehend the question correctly in the heat of the moment because it is written in such a dense format. Anyone else have this issue and if so, does it fade with time?

For reference I'm about 2 weeks into full time (but frankly unfocused) study, planning on taking the September LSAT
