why would the number of tornados doubling necessarily imply that the doubling would occur equally across all tornado sizes? it could be that # of small tornados has exponentially grown while large and medium remain the same, resulting in the overall # roughly doubling. or perhaps medium and large tornados only make up a small proportion of overall tornadoes
