For those who also thought pigment use could still be considered a painting technique:

A says, "Few of Larocque's students used techniques that differed from his." Meaning, most students used similar techniques (Larocque says no orpiment, most students say no orpiment).

At least one of his students, however, used a different technique. This makes it entirely plausible that one of his students could've used orpiment. So, A may actually support the conclusion.

Meanwhile, C explicitly and completely rules out the possibility that Larocque's students used orpiment, with the silent assumption that their painting techniques cannot differ from Larocque's.

I believe this lesson is introducing the idea that not all conditional claims have to be true.

Example: I can make the claim that to go on Love Island, you have to be attractive.

The contrapositive is: If you are not attractive, you cannot go on Love Island.

Meanwhile, the negation is trying to say, "Wait. That's just not true."

The negation would be: It's not the case that if you are not attractive, you cannot go on Love Island. You can go on Love Island and not be attractive. Love Island does not require you to be attractive.

This is how I'd apply it to a recent article I just read.

Mikie Sherrill announced that 770 tickets to World Cup matches in MetLife Stadium will be given to NJ residents. Of that number, they have set several qualifiers for ticket distribution (I'd list them all here, but it'd be way too long).

However, for simplicity, let's say 500 were going towards military, 200 for healthcare, and 70 for supporters of small businesses. These are all sufficient conditions (In the military -> Qualify for Ticket, in healthcare -> Qualify for Ticket, etc).

Being a NJ resident is also a sufficient condition, but obviously the governor of NJ is not going to offer free tickets to MetLife Stadium to New Yorkers or Texans. So, we would "kick it up to the domain" because we'd expect that condition to be satisfied.
