these type of passages are so awful. they love the art/literature passages that are so boring and abstract. I try to associate difficult concepts with examples but some of these are so nonsensical. Like WTF does this even MEAN "By reporting narrative events as if they were part of a region's "local color," Any tips on how to deal with these style of passages would be great!!

@JonathanAmaya Hey, its been LIFE SAVER. My professor is Henry Ewing and he is amazing, highly recommend taking the course with him. The majority of class is doing questions together and he'll walk you through them. It's a 10/10, highly recommend!

🙃 Confused

When should I start taking full length drills and practice tests?

Hello,

I joined a 12-week fundamentals virtual group class back in June. I have been drilling and practicing questions untimed, but have not taken a full practice test or done timed drills. I took a diagnostic test back in March.

When should I begin doing timed practice? or should I hold on until I’m done with the course in August? I definitely think timing is a weakness for me, but hate the idea of wasting practice tests if I’m not ready. Thanks!

@ameliaviscay1 This helped me understand this question, so maybe it will help you:

I would recommend starting to view things in 'groups.' The first Large Group is the Planning Committee. Then inside that Large Group, there is at least ONE person who has significant financial interests (aka some). Then the stimulus tells a crucial characteristic of this Large Group, which is 'If you are in this planning committee, then you DO NOT live in the suburbs.' Very important statement, you must not question this conditional rule because it will always be true.

The following statement of 'many of them work there' is to confuse you, but remember to try and visualize things in groups. All you have to know about this annoying last statement is that in the Large Group, there is at least ONE person who works in the suburbs (many = some). We are not sure who this last person is, maybe they have significant financial interests, maybe they don't. So be very careful in making false relationships, such as "some people who have financial interests in the committee will work in the suburbs." That can be true, but I can have significant financial interests and not work in the suburbs.

What helps me with these questions is to always use my conditional statements as my guideline; I never question them because they will probably be tied to the correct answer choice. In this case, all we know is that IT MUST ALWAYS BE TRUE that if you are a member of this committee, you WILL NOT live in the suburbs. This condition targets the Large Group, so it will apply to the smaller groups as well."

Hey anyone would like to check if my line of thought for this question?

“C is incorrect because it restricts the group to people in the planning committee to only the ones that have financial interests, concluding that this group may work in the suburbs. This is incorrect because the statement that 'although many of them work there' encompasses the ENTIRE planning committee. This creates the possibility that committee members with NO significant financial interests may be the only group to work in the suburbs, leaving room for those with financial interests to not work in the suburbs entirely. E is correct because, while it also restricts to only the people who have financial interests in the committee, it follows the conditional rule ‘all in planning committee → do not live in the suburbs.”

Thanks!!!!!!
