@TRenato I had the same thought, but viewing the ED data on LSD, it’s a little easier to get a picture. For example, at my top choices, I saw quite a few people accepted in the early decision pool that were far below either GPA median, LSAT median, or occasionally both, where people with those same numbers in the regular decision pool were rarely accepted. I assume that sometimes this is down to having some kind of really special softs, but some also reported only T4ish softs. That does make so somewhat hopeful (?) that it creates a solid boost for some people missing at least 1/3 of these factors, but I agree it’s impossible to know for sure without knowing if they would’ve been admitted anyway.
Does anyone know if going Early Decision provides a tangible boost at any schools in the T14? Especially for reverse splitters and/or those lacking any elite/law-related softs. Is this a viable strategy if you really have your heart set on a couple particular schools?
Hello, I am registered for September and am in search of a permanent tutor who would be available to meet more than once a week and provide intensive instruction between now and then. I am in need of a 175+, preferably without having to retake. I am already a few months of intensive study into this process and have either drilled or tested just about every question there is and have worked with other tutors in the past.
For background information, my diagnostic starting level was around ~160 and since then I have not seen the level of improvement I would like. My most recent practice tests were a 169 with a 174 BR and a 173 with a 180 BR (PT 156 and 159). I have been regressing since the 173, and am frequently getting around -4 to -6 on timed practice sections. I have a list of specific recurring problem areas that I would like to work on rather than starting from scratch. I don’t work that well with generalized lessons showing formulaic solutions to conditional reasoning, etc. , I would rather spend most of our sessions drilling actual missed questions in my identified problem areas and getting tips for strategies to approach these questions while working with them hands on.
If this sounds like it aligns with your teaching style or is something you could accommodate, please contact me 🙏. I am very willing to negotiate budget with anyone who feels confident they can get me to 174/175 by September. Tutor who has taken the test recently and scored 175+ preferred.
@JacobBaska Thanks for your detailed reply. So, say someone clears one median (GPA or LSAT) but is right at or just below the other rather than being over it. Assuming everything else about their application is good, is this the kind of candidate who is more likely to see an acceptance via ED, especially in this competitive age of admissions where even candidates over both medians sometimes do not get in?
