im a bit surprised bc i did not expect this question to be a level 5...this may be aura on my part i didnt even highlight anything hooray!
i was pretty confident with my answer and none of the other choices seemed to sway me at all, i will admit i had to read through more than once to actually understand what it meant. but i ended up just not caring about it since it mentioned something that occurred in the past and i felt in this scenario, the information d was providing was not really giving much to the conclusion aka the last sentence in stem
i was hunting for an answer that connected the points between "fixing fraud in the discipline" and "great boons to the discipline", while A does not provide a positive correlation between the 2 - it gives me the contrapositive (?), which would be either no progress or "de-progress" idk how to word it brah chill
the overall goal just seems to be to make further progress and A gave us a scenario we did not want, and was further reasoning as to why fraud should be dealt with via new safeguards

Process: I'm surprised I got this right, especially after seeing the difficulty level of it afterwards. I read through the stim multiple times; I was unable to fully understand the meat of the stim. I finally decided on the following:

The usage of “yet” told me the following:
This seemed to be an undercutting of the first sentence
This was the main point
I still don't understand the sentence “to offend is not to cause harm”, most likely since it was clashing with how this word is used in real life
I was able to eliminate C-E quickly since they didn't have anything relevant to do with the question. E mentions a scale of harm which doesn't matter here, D is wrong since we are not talking about behaviour of individuals, C is hard for me to explain why it's wrong but it seems like it doesn't address the right factors
I was down to a and b and narrowed on A because B talks about a case that is not mentioned “it is NOT wrong”, who the hell said anything about whats not wrong. Also it seemed like a jumbled restatement of the stim with the terms switched around
