The greater the number of people who regularly use a product, the greater the number whose health is potentially at risk due to that product. More people regularly use household maintenance products such as cleaning agents and lawn chemicals than regularly use prescription medicines. Therefore, it is even more important for such household products to be carefully tested to ensure their safety than it is for prescription medicines to be so tested.

Which one of the following principles, if valid, most helps to justify drawing the conclusion in the argument above?

I put A but the credited answer is C. Can anyone tell me why, please? Thanks!

Any fruit that is infected is also rotten. No fruit that was inspected is infected. Therefore, any fruit that was inspected is safe to eat.

The conclusion of the argument follows logically if which one of the following is assumed?

I put A, but the credited answer is E. Can someone tell me why, please? Thanks!

@ I am also using the GI Bill, are you not using the Post 9-11? From what I understand, the Post 9-11 has no limit as long as you attend a public university, otherwise it caps out at around $21k per year. Did you use some of your GI Bill already? Sorry for all the questions, your statement just had me confused seeing as I understood the Post 9-11 to have no limit for a public school.

My list is a mix of public and private, but I do believe that it caps at public schools based on what several admissions offices have said about other GI Bill users.

If it’s not where you want to be, then cancel. Some AdComms are picky about multiple/low scores. It’s dumb.

LSAC/Harvard not talking to each other?

I applied to HLS (totally not getting in, it was on a dare) and I sent in my LSAC application and report on the 22nd. LSAC is reporting the HLS application as "complete" and saying online that the academic report was sent over on the 22nd. I checked my status today on the HLS tracker, and it says it hasn't gotten my LSAC report OR my application fee (paid through LSAC). What gives? Should I just call LSAC and tell them?

My ED school was supposed to notify me of their decision by the 21st, and I emailed an Asst Dean last week who said I’d have a decision by the end of the 22nd, and claimed that everyone was out because they were sick, but it hasn’t come as of today.

Since they’re not living up to their end of this whole boondoggle, am I still bound by ED?

Hi all, I have a weird question.

I’m a 34-year old active duty Marine looking to apply to law school on the GI Bill. I have four classes left to finish my BS, and my GPA is only a 2.94 thanks to a recent statistics class (seriously, F statistics). I have “diversity” up the wazoo and tons of life experiences to draw on for my essays, and I’m aiming for a 170+ LSAT score (sitting in September). I’m finishing up the CC and reviewing/PTing now and my cold diagnostic in June with no formal background in logic was a 150. (Yes, I realize many will think I should move my test date back but I cannot change it without losing the payment for it, and I’m taking a week off work to just do LSAT prep, and I’m also a very good tester).

Based on median LSAT scores on US News, I’m looking at:

Harvard (dream)

UCLA (realistic)

UC Irvine (realistic)

University of San Diego (safety)

So should I apply with the 2.94 GPA when the cycle opens in October/November, hope that all my “diversity” and experience (I litigated my own divorce as a pro per against an ACTUAL attorney and got everything I wanted, and I’m handling my TPR case against said Ex as well as the adoption case myself, parental rights are already terminated woot woot!) sells my application, or should I wait to finish the two classes I’m taking this fall and apply in December with a GPA at or above 3.0? How big of a deal is the GPA in my situation? Thanks for any info you have!

I’m going to assume you’re a depressant of a military member who’s got a VA rating and that’s how you rate CalVet. I’d take the CA school if it’s someplace like UC Berkeley or UCLA, which are easily transferable to other locations. UC Davis or somewhere similar isn’t going to help you as much as a local DC school.

Hi all, I just wanted to let you know what happened when I toured UCI yesterday.

The topic of the LSAT came up. Two things stuck out:

The admissions rep made a point to reinforce the “holistic” approach the school has for applications, so if someone falls below the medians she said that person should still apply with a strong application.

During the tour the rep also mentioned that taking the LSAT twice wasn’t a good look. Nothing about withdrawals (though they do like to see improvement in scores so think about that before you cancel), and for those who have done 2+ tests, you may want to write an addendum as to why you did so many retakes.

Hope this helps!

LSAC LOR’s -can we read them?

I don’t see a feature on the LSAC website to read a submitted LOR before we assign it to a school and send it. Has anyone else accomplished this? Obviously I want to make sure I’m only sending the strongest letters.

How to thank recommenders

I usually send a nice present or a bouquet of flowers to people who, professionally, do nice things for me. My go-to is Edible Arrangements, but they’re about $50 for a nice enough arrangement, and I have 5 recommenders soooo...yeah. This fall I’m shorter on money than usual, so how are you all thanking your recommenders? (A “nice email” is not enough in my world because it doesn’t really show that the sender had made any effort on their part). TIA

They’re also known as a huge money pit that basically turns all your paperwork into PDF’s and charges you for the “privilege”, and meddles with your GPA to adapt it to a 4.3 scale for no good reason.

Just to follow up on why C is wrong -- JY's video does a really good explanation of showing two ways of drawing the analogy between the friends/restaurants and diseases/dinosaurs (I only show one). He also emphasizes just the weirdness of the conclusion, which is that the friends will probably go home -- it throws you off because you just don't really know what to do with it, but the other answer choices are also not great so the LSAT writers are hoping you'll pick C for cosmetic reasons.

Super. Great wrap up! You really made the connection well- thanks for taking the time to explain this bananas ass question to me :)

In somewhat in the same boat, but I’ve picked up the LSAT trainer and I click with it much more than 7Sage 🤷🏼‍♀️ I advise that you do branch out and find the method that works for you because you never know, and the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.

I’m hearing that tests were never administered because the tablets weren’t connecting to the LSAC network properly. This happened in Tampa at at least two test sites. Students waiting around until 3pm and then getting sent away.

So not only do we have to pay $200 to take a test full of made up bullshit because they want to gate keep so damn bad, they can’t even employ best practices when it comes to enterprising a new network. As a cyber professional, this both infuriates and tickles me. Way to go, LSAC! Your arrogance couldn’t save you this time.

It doesn’t look like it because the registration deadline for September is before the score release for July. LSAC anticipated this being somewhat easy for us and put the cabash on it pretty quickly.

Hello. Whew, first post. It’s been awesome ghosting everyone because I’ve learned so much.

In April I took a 4-part diagnostic and got a 150. I’ve since enrolled in the 7Sage prep course and have scheduled for September. Realistically, how much improvement can I expect before the test?

It depends how much money you’re ready to fork over to CAS for the “privilege” of having them put your transcripts into a spreadsheet and mess with your GPA.

Lawgic, my most hated fundamental

I’ve been through the CC, and I’ve gone back and repeated basic and advanced logic. I’m still losing a massive amount of points because I’m having trouble translating English to logical statements. What did you guys do to master this?

You won’t be able to use the free retake for sept. So keep that in mind. The earliest you can use the free retake is October. I’m in a similar boat, and if I need to cancel and retake in October, the score gains I will make will surpass the 2ish months I’ll have to wait when applying in the new cycle this year. Aiming for 170, which is above all the Medians at my intended schools. good luck!

I’ve done the Fox books, 7Sage, Khan Academy and Kim’s Trainer. I always recommend that people cut their teeth on Khan first, since it’s free. It saw a really good increase in scores with Khan, even after I’d been a year into my prep. It was surprising. The logic games and analytics on 7Sage are the biggest sellers of the program. I didn’t care for the micro approach to the LR sections, until I began to advance my own knowledge of logic. Don’t use 7Sage first. The Trainer was...ok. It’s about the wavetops. And I really liked the Fox books for LR and LG. You don’t even need an account to see the games on 7Sage, though.

Are you testing without taking any sort of course or studying before hand?

The assistant dean of admin said they’d have a decision to me by the end of this week. Pray for me.

To everyone else applying or still working on LSAT, good luck. I mean it. GOOD LUCK. And remember that everything happens for a reason.

LSAT score addendum- when to write?

What is the score difference that would notnall rate an addendum? Is it by tens (“I jumped from 160 to 170 and this is why”) or a certain number of points jump (“I jumped from 152 to 167 and this is why”).

I would say for NA: Aunt Barbara was not convicted of a crime that carries minimum jail time as a sentence.

Strengthen would be something like: All people who get tattoos commit robbery and get caught, and robbery is a crime punishable by a minimum of six months in jail.

Fun exercise! I’m going to do this for some of my own questions now.

what other curriculum did you use? i thought abotu taking testmaster live course that begins in april, then I thought maybe i should really focus on every aspect of the 7sage CC and improve as much as I can, i even reached out to some of the tutors here. For example I'm awesome at the games, in LR, I get all my MP questions so I would skip those and focus on RC SA NA etc etc.. But i am not agaisnt trying other things. i'll try anything once lol

I've read the Trainer by Kim and I'm in the Fox series of books now. I don't know how or why, but reading through the Fox LR book has made the entire LR section completely click for me. I feel like a savant. I can read an argument and immediately see the hole, and based on the question stem know exactly what to do with it. I like 7Sage for the video curriculum for LG, but I really did not click with the LR portion of it. I also dabbled in Blueprint, but hands down I love Fox the most so far. I love his snarky style and the way he describes the questions.

I would not. The CA bar is notoriously difficult, and most local schools (I'm in SoCal) will gear their bar classes toward the exam. You're at a definite disadvantage out of the gate by not going to school here if you want to license here. There's also the fact that you may be locked out of the market- we will all have interned and done clinics here and have jobs lined up to close to being lined up for us by the time we are 3L, and you're going to be coming in cold into a VERY competitive market where tons of first year lawyers already have a leg up on networking and connections. I would advise that in a finicky market like this, you go to a local school.

This may seem like blasphemy to some, but if the CC isn't working for you, please branch out to other well-reviewed methods. I put all my eggs in the 7Sage basket, it wasn't clicking for me but I LOVED and still love the community, and I found my stride with another curriculum. Don't tread water or try to skate through peanut butter. I'm also a mommy, so best of luck with your new bundle!! (3(/p)

Wow it’s like you were describing me, nine months ago. I went through the same thing. Getting past the “pick two” dilemma requires you to be VERY careful attention to language modifiers like some, any, all, etc, and you also need to make sure you’re picking the answer that best describes the subject of the question. Finally, make sure you’re not mistaking sufficiency for necessity, and the other way around, because many ac’s will give an answer choice that WOULD be correct, but the sufficiency and necessity are incorrectly flip flopped.

I took my first test without a strong grasp of LG and I would recommend that you plan to take this test and just cancel. It won’t be where you want it to be. Test day isn’t about making a last-chance Hail Mary happen- it’s about putting down on paper your previously proven abilities, whatever they are.

I actually started using the Khan Academy program that LSAC offers to increase a few points as well, and I really like it. You need to break out of your current methods somehow and shake things up to get over your plateau. I thought that it’s be cheesy or incompletely before i started it, but it’s pretty comprehensive and I like the way it personalizes the drills and gives analytics.

I just listened to a webinar by a Harvard admissions rep who said that cancels don’t really matter unless you start adding them up and they get in to 3-4 range, and that people are expecting lots of cancels from the July test. Take the July- it’s the best opportunity for a risk-free test you’ll ever get.

How can I improve my LG time?

Probably the thousandth person to ask this, but how can I improve my time on LG? I can go either -0 or -2 now, but it takes me an hour to figure out all four games completely. I do the game board up front and don’t have to really refer to the stimulus that much (or at all) after I’ve made my board, but I do know that figuring out which game board to use can take me some time, and shaking loose the inferences takes me a while. Looking for concrete tips. TIA
