can i close the gap????

Hi guys,

I am in need of advice regarding what to do next? I have been studying for the LSAT since July 2020 and plan on taking the February LSAT Flex (potentially the one in April too). My past few LSAT scores have been in the low 160s while BR is above 170. I realize timing is my biggest issue and being a slow reader doesn't help. I think not being a native English speaker really hurts my RC reading speed. I usually run out of time before i can even get to the last passage. Has anyone been in the same position as me before? Any recommendations on what i should do next? What would benefit me the most to keep doing a PT every day or every other day or intense drilling on weak points? My target goal is 168+. Is it realistic to close the gap by February? I've been studying pretty much full time. Please and thank you!

My very first prep test I scored a 153, and then after about 4 months of self study with power score books I took the official LSAT last June and scored a 164. I then took off from June until the next may. I've been studying since late May and I'm PT'ing around 167/169 hoping to get to the low 170's by September. Whoever said you can only improve by 5 or so points probably didn't use 7sage lol

This gives me hope, thanks for this.

While I understand why B is the right answer I am questioning the reason why A is wrong. Is it because we don't know how many times total the coin has been tossed? #help

This is a good question. I haven’t taken the LSAT yet, but my first PT score wasn’t great. It’d be interesting to know how much you can actually improve though. I’ve read that it’s only 5 or so points but I am hoping this isn’t always the case.

I can relate to this as well. I have been missing out on so many events and by the time I am done studying I am probably not gonna have any friends left haha.

Congrats on the 175 :)

#help JY dismisses the AC E for question 1 and while I can see why A is the right AC for question 1 idk why E isn't. Can someone please explain?

I do this too and it's super frustrating. My problem is that I tend to overthink easy questions thinking there is no way the very obvious answer choice is the right one. I am hoping this gets better with practice. I would love to know other people's strategies on how to avoid this as well.

@ hey could you explain on how the Economist is helpful? I’ve seen that too but just don’t know how it would help improve the RC.

Thanks!

I don't think the timing would make much of a difference but if it does I'd like to know that as well.

@ sounds like you are doing the pomodoro technique( studying for 25 mins and taking a 5 min break). I switched it up a bit by studying for 45 mins and giving myself 10-15 min breaks.

zero social life

Anyone else have no life and is about to lose all friends because of LSAT?

I am curious how others balance studying and personal life?

I was stuck between AC D and E and ended up choosing AC E, however listening to JY's explanation, I understand why D is right. For anyone else that's struggling between D and E, I think D is right because the question asks for the MOST strengthening answer choice. D is a stronger choice than E because D uses a specific example( i.e cash flow) mentioned in the stimulus rather than just stating that businesses need to take into account monthly and non monthly expenses.

Commenting to get this thread on top. I often wonder how other non-native english speakers have done it as well. Mine journey has been kind of similar with high BR scores while kind of significantly lower in my timed ones.

Thank you! Hoping people will reach out with some advice.

You are very close! I was in the same position a few months back. My BR scores were in the 160s now they are mostly 172 and above. Honestly what worked for me is to continue doing timed tests and a thorough BR. I've i stared seeing improvements after about 10 tests. Now my goal is to raise my timed score closer to my BR.
