@iramsana I thought the same, but on second read it's not coming to any point. Having accurate dates for sites up to 200,000 years old is not "the point" of any argument here, its the result of a sentence that supports the argument.

I do not at all understand the relationship in 3. The intent with which tracking studies are conducted and the reliability seem to be parallel statements. Studies could be unreliable if all operational tracking studies were conducted to illustrate exact ROI. They could also be reliable if all operational tracking studies were conducted to illustrate ROI. Where is the correlation between the intent of how studies are conducted and the reliability of the studies??

@MyNguyen I view this differently. I think of this in terms of reliability. Tigers are mammals is a very reliable assumption. Aggressiveness makes an animal unsuitable as a pet is less reliable (as shown in the example), but it still makes sense.

@AdamUpdike Not sure if this is the right approach, but the way I approach these examples is how I might approach information in a courtroom. If the evidence is admitted, we are trusting that it is truthful testimony through the power of the court. If there is an argument made that strengthens or weakens the support, we incorporate it and evaluate the strength of the argument based on the overall evidence.

The weakest argument in this order has a conclusion with a hypothesis that is likely to face alternative hypothesis. The premises don't guarantee the conclusion, as there are n number of potential premises that could also explain that conclusion. In the stronger examples, it becomes incrementally more difficult to imagine or supply alternative premises that would satisfy the conclusion.
