Older prep test vs. New Prep Test

Hello 7 sage community. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

I have noticed that my score in older prep tests ( PT40-60 ) are consistently higher than the newer ones ( PT 70-89 ). I am wondering has anyone experienced this? And how did you study to do better on the newer tests? What are some main differences between the older prep tests and newer ones?

Any insights / advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you.

I only have 1 LG and my LG was about the fashion boutiques, so I think the security guard thing is an experimental?

Just finished! I had LG-LR-RC-LG

First LG felt a lot harder than the second LG, I didn't have enough time to finish the fourth game so I'm really hoping that is the experimental. I can't remember all the topics but I know that the fourth game dealt with Security Guards/Buildings.

LR seemed standard, nothing out of the ordinary. However, my alarm on my phone went off the last ten minutes and I had to wait until my proctor said it was okay to turn to it off.

RC wasn't too bad. I have the Nigerian Language/Literature, EMFs, Privatization, and the last one was something dealing with trees and Cacao.

Second LG was easy. Campers, Clothing/Retail, Clay Tablets, Musicians/Concerts.

(For those that only had one LG please comment what game themes you had)

I had the exact same test as you. Same 4 RC passages, felt the same about LR. I BOMBED the first LG section. that shit was impossible. second I finished w time to spare. Hoping the first was experimental.

Well, I feel I just figured out the real LG is security guards. I had this game on my second LG though, and I don't recall anything about campers or clay tablets.

Hi do you remember something about fashion items and boutiques/stores?

I'm still really hoping security guards was experimental...

I am sorry your test day experience went like this. I hope you are able to take some time for yourself first before jumping back into studying. At the end of the day, this is just a test. It is literally just 76 questions. And moving forward, working on sitting at ease with the anxiety is probably something that can help.

Best of luck to you and I know you will do so many great things regardless of your score or the school you got into!

Hi friend, just to update you with an info I get from my Spivey consultant. I got low 170 in June exam (aiming for 175+) and he encouraged me to take August exam no matter I am prepared or not. He said it doesn't matter whether the score turns out to be lower than my June exam or not. He just stresses the importance to take the exam whenever you can (luck is part of this test) and the highest core is the one that matters. Even if the August score turns out to be lower, it won't impact my application.

Hi thank you so much for taking the time to reply and your thoughtful update. I am so grateful for your info & help : ) Best of luck with August!

The link above helps explain the panic after the exam, and the result, most of the time, ends up better than you predict.

The technical question: will canceling affect my applications negatively?

US News posts and former admission officers' info section mentioned that once won't hurt the applications. You just need to explain in the applications about why canceling: sick, anxiety, etc

My personal opinion judging by posts I read about law school applications, a lower score trend is probably worse than one canceled score, but not detrimental at all!

We are just discussing the strategy above. You might feel you want to see the score you get after a two-month heart-pouring effort, and I think it is also perfectly fine.

Just breathe and stay calm. You will do great!

Thank you for this! Really appreciate the strategy analysis : )

I am having the same debate with myself. I read there's a negative stigma around cancelling but would it be worse than having a June score show lower then April? I am in the same boat as you. Following this thread hopefully for some insight

Best of luck to you! I have seen your posts before and I know how hard you have worked on this test : )

Help - Should I cancel my score?

Hello everyone!

I just took the June LSAT Flex yesterday and really don't feel good about it. I know for a fact that I underperformed and my anxiety got the best of me. My first section was LG (which is usually my strongest section) but I was really nervous during the first game to the extent that I had to let it go and then come back at the end to finish it. After LG, I remembered I felt so bad that I was thinking to cancel the score during the exam. I did finish the four games and guessed on 1 question but I just really am not sure how I did.

My RC and LR were average I would say. I definitely could have done better because I was having some trouble concentrating sometimes during the test. I couldn't sleep the night before the exam so that really didn't help lol.

My PT average has been a 168 since April. And my April Flex score was a 164. After my April Flex I actually felt pretty ok but I got a 164. My fear is that if I don't cancel my score it is likely that it will be lower than my April score since I felt much worse than last time. I worry that the drop will not make my application look good.

And lastly, I have already signed up for August so I am retaking it anyway.

Thank you in advance for your insights and help! And congrats to everyone who has finished the test and best of luck to those who haven't taken it : )

#help

what about the government employee union part tho? Isn't the government employee union a subset of the Bargaining Unit 17?

I feel like to get the question right we have to assume the government employee union of Bargaining Unit 17 = Bargaining Unit 17. But in reality the government employee union can be a really small part of the Unit and therefore none of the answer choices would work.

This was my first time taking the LSAT and I got a 144 after PTing around 154... Honestly trying to figure out whether or not to cancel since I did the score preview. I'm seeing a lot of posts that caution against cancelling, but I know that I wasn't performing my best and that I can do much better. I will definitely be retaking later on with more study under my belt, but I wanted to know what other people's thoughts were!

I actually had similar experience. My first take was 8 points lower than my average but I decided to keep it because it was my first take, the school would only see my improvements from now on. And keep in mind that if you use your cancel for this exam, if anything bad happens during your next take ( really hope not ), it will be bad to cancel it again IMO. So it might make sense to "save" this cancel since it's just your first take. Lastly, when I was debating if I should cancel it or not, my friend said that when schools look at "cancel", they most likely know that this is not a good score, so really I don't see much benefits cancelling this one. Best of luck!
