@ Thanks for your reply! I think I’m going to give Powerscore reading comp another shot to increase my score. I think I’m lacking practice with the material with the techniques Powerscore teaches.

LR + RC Improvement Advice

Hi everyone,

So I’ve been studying for the LSAT since may. I’ve been studying through Powerscore but my LR is still stuck at -7 to -10. LG is my strongest section so I’m not too worried about that. And RC is my worst section. I wanted to ask, how long does it take to get through the CC? I haven’t done any of the 7Sage CC, I’ve only been doing PT’s and reviewing. I want to start working more efficiently and effectively so I can improve my score. Any tips to improve my LR & RC score will be really helpful! My goal score is 166, and I’m currently at mid 150’s.

Thank you so much for any help in advance!

Q19: #help

Could anyone explain why D is correct? I am not really understanding J.Y's explanation for it. I understand why the other AC's are wrong but I am having a difficult time completely understanding what D is trying to say and what makes it correct

The Loophole?? How helpful is it?

Hello everyone,

So I started my LSAT prep with Powerscore books and then got 7Sage for prep tests. I am struggling with LR, and I have heard a lot of people talk about how the Loophole has helped them a lot with Logical Reasoning. I just wanted to ask if it is worth purchasing the Loophole if I already have my Powerscore books + 7Sage? I just don’t want another thing to buy if it’s going to restate things I already know/can get access to with the LSAT resources I already own.

ALSO, I haven’t gone through the 7 Sage CC since I studied with the Powerscore books. Would you guys say it’s worth it to go through the LR 7 sage CC since I am still struggling with this section? I am not sure I have enough time to since my exam is in October.

Thanks everyone in advance for any advice/tips!!

Hi. I used to feel this exact same way, and I still do at times when I take PrepTests. I am also afraid of failure so to do a prep test and then to see myself get a score I am not happy with is very discouraging. Maybe you can start with doing sections instead of doing full length tests to give yourself some exposure to the PT material? And maybe you can do this untimed as well for now, instead of timing yourself which may cause anxiety (as it does for me; to see the clock running and then to see that I am not going fast enough is very frightening at times).

Just know that you are definitely not alone. This stuff is very hard, and learning is a slow process. It takes time! Its not a measure of how smart you are, this is a skillset test takers have to build in order to succeed. Don't be too hard on yourself. A lot of us feel the same way! And the great thing is that 7sage is a great community that is always willing to help. :)

Can anyone explain why Stephanie's response is easier to attack than what Ruth actually states? I understand why all the other AC's wrong, but I can't seem to understand the part of answer choice C) where it states "The response attributes to Ruth a view that is more vulnerable to criticism"?

I would purchase the loophole if you haven't already and try to get through that before classes begin in the fall. the loophole really helped break down LR for me and i went from -11 to -5. Also drill drill drill. drilling questions is a good way to become more familiar with the questions as well as the thought processes that go into each question type

Thanks for your reply! I am definitely looking into the loophole currently, however, I wanted to ask, how did the loophole differ from the 7 sage CC? I am just not sure if I want to spend more money on LSAT resources if I can get that same information from 7 Sage? Thanks!

i went through the core lr curriculum once and felt like I didn't improve at all. So i decided to go through it a second time. I only did quizzes when I felt like I could actually devote my 100 percent to them and also i looked at the questions after finishing the quiz with the idea to understand everything about them. This took me from a -7 in a test which i was familiar with some of the questions to a -4 in a completely new test for me. I recently bought the loophole and it seems to emphasize a lot the idea of trying to rephrase the stimulus after reading it.

Thank you for your reply! I actually studied through the Powerscore books and got 7sage after I was done with all those books to do practice tests on here so I haven't really gone through the core curriculum on here. I am scared that I may waste time if I go through it because it may tell me stuff I already know? But I also might need to to really understand the fundamentals. How helpful would you say the loophole was for you? I am kind of on budget so I am not sure I want to purchase it unless it really does help with LR; I am worried that I will waste money on it if I can get that same information from 7sage/my Powerscore books.

Maybe not the ideal advice, but this is what I did to improve. Sometimes I go -2 on LR sections.

Every question I got wrong, I wrote out in full in my own words. Conclusion and support. I examined the relationship then wrote out the gap.

Then I wrote out why each answer choice supports or doesn't.

I imagine this is what a tutor forces you to do.

Then, during testing, I find the conclusion, the support, I try to para-phrase in my own head. If I get the pre-phrase, I look for the answer. If its a more difficult question, I scratch off the wrong answers, and deliberate between the ones I think are correct.

Seems to work. Only a couple of sections are botched Lsat 83-85, they seemed really tough.

Also, how rested I am significantly affects my performance.

Hey! Thank you so much for your reply. I recently got some advice from a friend as well who is scoring very well and she said the same thing. I think especially, prephrasing is very important because then you know what to look for in the answer choices. I will definitely try this method. Thank you once again!

Need help with LR section

Hi,

I have been taking practice tests since end of June till now, and I keep on getting -11 to -15 on LR sections. My LSAT is in October and I am quite nervous about whether I will be able to improve on the LR sections in the next 2 months, especially since I am going into my fourth year of my undergrad in the fall.

Does anyone have any general tips for me on how to improve on LR sections??

Thank you! #help

@ Hey! Thank you so much for your response. I actually stumbled upon that article as well and it is indeed a good article to read through before sitting down for the actual thing. And yes!! They really need to update it LOL I was watching their How To: Get Acquainted videos and it said that you could practice multiple times so I was so confused when I didn’t see a prompt during the practice run. 😂

LSAT Writing Get Acquainted Tool/Advice

Hello everyone,

I had a question for those who have practiced with the LSAT writing Get Acquainted tool. I was under the impression that with Get Acquainted, they would give you a prompt and you could practice writing an essay about that prompt. However, every time I launch Get Acquainted, it does not give me a prompt to write about... I am a little confused because I wanted to practice with a prompt before doing the real thing.

Regardless, are there any websites where I can find previous LSAT writing prompts? I just want to familiarize myself with how the prompt will be like before I do the actually writing sample.

Thanks!
