The school accepted about 5,500 applications last year. That is on par with some T13 schools (Berkeley about 5,500, Columbia about 5,800, Michigan about 5,300, Duke about 4,800), and easily exceeds a good number of its Californian competitors (USC about 4,800, Loyola about 3,300, Southwestern about 1,800). Moreover, UCLA's situated in southern California too. I have no idea what more they could possibly want in terms of diversity.
