pause button short cut key for videos?

is there a short cut key that allows you to pause a video while you're scrolled down below the box the video is being played in (say b/c you're taking notes but after the answer choice of interest has stopped being talked about you want to pause the video). this is a very particular and perhaps unnecessary question but it would probably save a me several minutes over the span of a couple hours.... lol

on my computer that works only if the video box is on the screen. Alot of times i end up taking notes while something is being explained, then the explainer gets ahead of me and i end up stopping my notes going up and pausing going back down an finishing then trying to find the space in video i left off. it isn't that big of deal but if there were a quick little short key for pausing while you're scrolled below the video box that would be cool lol. uk what i'm sayin?
