No, a few years ago, it may have but right now, applications to law schools are so low that applying after the December test is no disadvantage at all. I applied in Jan and got thru 3 top tire (25 - 35 range) schools with scholarships. -

You should be fine for HYS. Typically people recommend applying early for primarily scholarships as there is a larger pool of $$$ in the fall. But in the case of HYS, they only do financial aid so you applying in January will be fine. Good luck! -

Postponing to get a higher LSAT score will always have a preference for obvious reasons. The LSAT I'd half your application and the scholarship money you can get from it is too real. Applying after December holds you at no disadvantage. Promise. -

I think it might depend on your GPA as well. If you have a lower GPA, applying after the December test may not be the best strategy for T14. -
