I second what @Sami and @"Cant Get Right" have said above. It's not ideal; but there certainly are strategies that you can implement to mitigate the amount of guesses you'll be forced to take.

Ooo this is a great post Sami! I was searching for a good sharpener before I got a Staedler. I will definitely get what you recommended when the blade gets dull.
