One-on-one SAT/ACT tutoring
Average increase of 150 points on the SAT
Your student works with a dedicated tutor who scored in the top percentile, diagnoses why points are being lost, builds a study plan around those reasons, and meets with them in regular private online sessions. Or 3 to 5 points on the ACT.
Our tutors are top-percentile scorers, Ivy League graduates, and career educators. A high score alone is not enough to be hired here—we select the small fraction who can also teach, then train them further.
Our tutors' first mission is to identify the real issue behind the score, whether that's a knowledge gap, a timing problem, shaky study habits, or confidence—and then fix that, rather than tutoring around it.
We don't sit beside your child while they finish tonight's assignment. We diagnose the underlying causes, build study habits, and teach the reasoning the test is actually measuring.
We pair by subject and learning style rather than by whoever is available. If the fit isn't right, tell us and we'll match your student with someone else.
From middle school math through Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, and AP Calculus. We rebuild the foundations that classes moved past too quickly, so that homework stops being a nightly negotiation.
Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, including AP courses. Our tutors teach students how to read figures and data carefully and how to reason through problems instead of memorizing their way around them.
Reading comprehension, essay writing, and academic writing across subjects. Students learn to read closely, organize their thinking, and revise their own work, skills that carry into every class they take.
AP exams, the GED, professional exams, even pilot certification! If there is a test in front of your student, our tutors have it covered.

Over the past fifteen years, we’ve built our reputation by helping people with the LSAT. Our students earned entry into elite law schools, became lawyers, and started families. And then they started reaching out to us to see if we could help their children.
These parents came to us because they were dissatisfied with all the test prep tutors they could find. They said the tutors seemed to be assuming their children were less knowledgeable than was the case. “They keep trying to teach my son quadratic equations,” one parent told me. “But he knows quadratic equations. That’s not the problem.”
We immediately recognized what they were talking about. The tutors were skipping a step.
They weren’t asking why the students got problems wrong. They were trying to solve a problem before they knew what it was.
Maybe this student got it wrong because he ran short of time—maybe he ran short of time because he was overthinking, doing every problem more carefully than necessary. Or maybe he had the right answer previously because, anxiously doubting himself, he switched it to the wrong one. Or maybe he just did it hastily and misread the numbers—maybe he’s been rewarded for quickness more than patience.
So we built our college prep division the 7Sage way: understand first, treat second. And get to know students, because each student is different. Treat them as the valuable, capable people they are.
Our tutors are Ivy League graduates, top-percentile scorers, and career educators, but that’s only the beginning. We only hire people we trust to sit down with a confused sixteen-year-old and guide them to their goal.
At 7Sage, we don’t supervise homework or make grades our primary focus. Instead, we teach children to find their own answers and develop problem-solving methods that work with their unique intelligence. We help them build study habits that survive into college and beyond, and we help them learn self-trust that we hope will last a lifetime. We find that good grades follow.
A good tutor should do more than explain the questions your student got wrong. Practice tests come with answer keys for that. A tutor is closer to a personal trainer: just as a trainer watches your form and helps you make faster progress than you would alone, a tutor works one-on-one to evaluate how your student solves questions. They'll diagnose why a particular wrong answer looked appealing, identify patterns across the mistakes, and build the underlying reasoning skills. They'll concentrate on the question types that cost the most points, and correct the habits that hurt speed or accuracy.
As your student improves, the tutor continually adjusts the lessons and homework so that the work is always aimed at whatever will move the score most. Good tutoring is entirely tailored to the individual student.
On the test prep side, we cover the SAT, the ACT, the PSAT/NMSQT, and AP exams. We'll also help you decide which test your student should take. This is a real decision rather than a formality: many students perform meaningfully better on one test than the other because of how the two are structured, and it is worth finding out before months of preparation go into the wrong one.
We also offer academic tutoring for regular coursework: mathematics through calculus, the sciences, reading and writing, and world languages. Many families begin with academic tutoring during the school year and move the same tutor onto test prep as the test date approaches.
We match on two things. The first is subject, which is straightforward. The second is learning style and temperament, which matters more than families often expect: a student who withdraws when pushed needs a different tutor from one who disengages when not pushed. We would rather take the time to get this right than assign whoever happens to be free.
If the pairing turns out not to suit your student, tell us. You're welcome to switch tutors at any time, for any reason, and you don't need to justify the request.
Every tutor has scored in the top percentile on the test they teach, but that's only our first filter. A high score demonstrates that someone is good at the test, not that they can teach it. Our tutors include Ivy League graduates and career educators with years of classroom experience.
What we're really selecting for is diagnostic ability: can this person watch a student work and explain precisely where the points are going? We then train every tutor before they work with a student, in the same teaching system that has helped thousands of 7Sage students improve.

Our tutors don't simply tell your student the answer or recite the correct process. Instead, they ask your student to explain and analyze their own reasoning, so that a right answer reflects genuine understanding rather than a lucky guess. It means less time spent memorizing tricks and more time developing the reasoning skills that transfer across every section of the test, and into college coursework afterward.
It also means we don't supervise homework. Sitting beside a student while they complete tonight's assignment produces a completed assignment and little lasting change. We work on the reasons the assignment was difficult.
Sessions are one-on-one and virtual, which means we can match your student with the right tutor rather than the nearest one. Sessions are held over video with a shared whiteboard, and families generally find the format works as well as meeting in person.
Test prep packages start at $1,199 for ten hours, and larger packages are priced at a discount. The custom option lets you select the number of hours that fits your student's timeline.
Most families purchase a block of hours and spread it across the months before test day. If you're unsure how large that block should be, book the free consultation and we'll work it out with you before you buy anything.
We split the purchase price into a set of monthly payments. You pay the first today, and then we'll bill you each month until you're paid up. No interest, no shady terms, and no third-party companies. Note: once you buy, you are obligated to complete all the payments.
Schedules change, particularly for students balancing school, activities, and jobs. Give your tutor advance notice and we'll move the session at no charge. We'll only raise the subject with you if last-minute cancellations become frequent, since a study plan only works if the sessions actually take place.
Our students improve by about 150 points on the SAT, or 3 to 5 points on the ACT, on average. The honest caveat is that the result depends on the starting score, the time remaining before the test, and whether the work between sessions gets done. A student with six months and real ground to cover has considerably more room than one testing in three weeks.
