Yes the grammar was good review and i think needed for this test especially for those needing to spend time in the core curriculum
I liked the grammar part because it helped clarify and better understand the grammatical parts in the questions and answers.
I am an avid reader and consider myself quite good at intuitively understanding grammar, so I was very surprised when I found the grammar section of the course to be incredibly helpful for making my implicit understanding more explicit.
I think it is very helpful for people that do not have English as their first language!
For me, it was very useful!! (ENglish as a second language)
I thought it was decent, but long, the curriculum absolutely has to be cut down, no one can go through a 4 month curriculum, something has to change.
Without a shadow of a doubt! As someone whose English was not my first language, learning the nuances of grammar applied to the LSAT increased my score a lot.
Helpful
The grammar is very good, the program is excellent, but the explanation in the videos especially for the exams is very simple and superficial. That part should be improved; I understand it’s the most important part for studying.
Very useful. For me, I didn't necessarily see an improvement in score immediately, but it helped me fundamentally understand how to read the stem, stimulus, and answer choices that also helped me understand Lawgic.
I would've preferred if possible for them to be much shorter and with more applicable practice because I believe it was a bit long for the fundamental curriculum, but it was helpful.
would prefer a condensed lesson but with more practice
I believe they could be condensed significantly, but still found them very helpful overall. If anything, I would appreciate it if some of the other lessons referenced them more frequently. For example, the use of several referentials in a clause indicates (to me, at least) that what I am reading has a good chance of being the conclusion in MC questions, but I don't think this is part of the curriculum.
I think is one of the most important lessons in the CC. Understanding referential words and modifiers are a game changer.
Though they initially seemed unnecessary, they were actually very helpful for thinking about how to parse through difficult stimuli/passages
I'm currently doing the grammar lessons right now and I personally find them helpful. I do wish there were more practice questions for them in the CC.
Very helpful! Essential
It gave me some clarity especially when I went through modifiers. Still going through them when I have time.. it helps me with translating the stimulus into basic translation.
I didn't find the CC in general the most helpful. I needed a tutor to break down the lessons to me. 20 hours later, I feel pretty good about most-things LSAT. It may be my particular learning style. To answer your specific question, if I remember correctly, the grammar lessons are one of the first topics covered, so I tried to force myself through it. I found myself skipping most of the content toward the end as it was not the most engaging.
I agree with another poster that the grammar aspect of this exam, I think, it best learned through exposure.
Not sure if this is under the grammar section, but I refer to the conditional diagraming cheat sheet often.
When it came to how to read, with the commas, it helped me but not a whole lot.
I think it was definitely a good introduction to the curriculum, coming from someone whose first language is English. I do think that the LSAT is written so specifically that the best way to nail down the grammar is drilling, and I think the grammar lessons would have made more sense in context if they were just before the MC lessons.
I am a native english speaker and found them to be quite helpful :)
Yes, I loved them! I wouldn't be able to make any conclusions about their impact on my score, though, as I only started doing full PTs after completing the CC.
Ehhhhh I didn't really think so
Looking back, they were helpful, in the moment they seemed irrelevant. I think having more pratice intergrated in these lessons to show why it is so important would help students understand it better.
For me, they were somewhat helpful. I've studied a lot of languages and have a pretty good grasp of how grammar works in English - but even then, it was a nice refresher and a way of reframing the grammar in the LSAT specifically.
