If it was a conditional chain (x -> A -> B) like:
Luke -> Force User -> Jedi
then you can break it up like x -> B or A->B
I like the underlying lesson, but what is the purpose of Lawgic, on test day we are not going to have time nor the ability to write everything out.

@SofiaHaddon assumptions are the missing premise (link) that either the conclusion follows organically or if false, completely wrecks or weakens it. After identifying the premises and conclusion, we have to ask ourselves, is their something missing that would tie this whole thing up more neatly?
For these causation questions, when I'm trying to weaken, I'm always thinking and looking for that alternative explanation.
