PT 56 difficulty?

Hello everyone!

I use the 7sage’s lsat analytics and my scores usually range from 161-164. Sometimes I get like a 171 but that’s because the PTs are really tainted and I’ve seen over half of the LR questions before. (Several times)

Yesterday I took PT 56 and it was a fresh PT without any questions I’ve previously seen. I scored a 169 which is unusual because I would usually score 161 if the PT is completely fresh like this. And my worst section is RC and I would even get -10 questions wrong sometimes, however I got only -1 on this PT

So, I was wondering if anyone else had this experience with the PTs or if PT 56 was abnormally easy?

Thank you in advance!(:

@ JY said in the CC that there is a deep relationship between RRE and weaken questions. He said he would mention it later, but I wasn’t able to find the video. :( But anyways thank you very much.

Resolve reconcile explain questions

Hey everyone, I’m having trouble with RRE questions.

Does anyone know what the relationship between weaken and RRE questions is?

I never got to hear JY’s explanation in the CC.

Thank you in advance.

Inference question

Hello everyone,

If a question stem says “which one of the following statements can be properly inferred from the statements above?”, is this a MBT or MSS question?

Thank you in advance.:)

@ Thank you for the reply! I can’t agree with you more! That is exactly how I feel when I take an actual LR section.

It is nice to know that there is someone else who feels what I feel and at the same time trying to overcome the difficulties! It’s very encouraging.

Thank you once again!!!(:

Getting worse in LR...:(

Hi everyone!

I’m really having struggles with LR these days. I used to get a total -8 questions wrong in the 50s. But throughout the 60s, 70s, and 80s, I consistently got a total of 9-11 questions wrong. This plateau has started since September 2018...

I really focused on LR for the past 2 weeks and basically drilled all the question types I struggle with. (From PT 1-38) I took PT 68 a few days ago to see if I improved and got -14 questions wrong. (Sec 2:-9 sec3:-5) Why am I getting worse...:(

After blind review I was able to fix 6 answers, but it was still very discouraging to see this score. I don’t understand why I’m not improving at all. I don’t think it’s a burnout... My average is 165 right now. I also got a 165 on PT 68. I really need to get LR down to achieve my goal.

I always review the questions I got wrong and analyze why each answer choice is right/wrong.

These days I’m thinking that this is my limit and I’m just not smart enough to overcome this plateau...I studied full time for a little more than a year now.

Any advice or strategies from people with this kind of experience is welcomed!

Thank you.

Point at issue questions

Hello everyone!

I am having trouble with point at issue questions and I know that you can either make a chart or just use your intuition.

I use the intuitive method and most of the time I overthink and choose answers that aren’t even mentioned by the two speakers. What if I try solving these questions like how JY solves the questions on comparative passages? Like read the first person’s argument and eliminate some answers and then read the next person’s argument to choose the right answer?

Does anyone use this kind of method?

Thank you!!

@ Thank you so much for the advice!!! I will definitely try filming myself take a section!

After doing the section timed, I reread all the passages and do the questions again untimed. I would only get -2, -3 quesions wrong. I’m usually not able to solve 3 to 4 questions because I run out of time. So I basically start with a -3. I guess this means I’m a slow reader...?

Any book recommendations?

Hello! :)

I usually do very poor on science passages. I think this is due to my fear of the unfamiliar subject matter. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good book that I can read in order to overcome this fear?

Or are there any books that you recommend that has helped you improve your reading skills for the LSAT in general?

Thank you very much.

@ No, I get them wrong regardless of the type of passage. Yeah, you were right about it being a waste of time. Actually I coudn’t even afford to look at the questions before reading the passage. lol

@ For example if I get -10 wrong, 3 of them would be this type of question... I get the main point and other structure related questions right most of the time.

Help please!

Hello everyone, on reading comprehension I usually miss the questions where you have to go back to the given line number in the question stem. I usually read 2-3 lines above and below the given line number. Any suggestions on how to improve on this type of question? Like should I quickly scan the questions before I read the passage and note the line number that is going to be asked in the question? Or would that just be a waste of time?

Thank you very much in advance.
