Bar Hangout 7Sagers?

Just wanted to know if you guys were planning on doing something similar to this: http://classic.7sage.com/discussion/#/discussion/56/nyc-open-bar-post-june-lsat-monday-evening

it would be great to meet JY, Jon, and everyone else that got me through this hell known as the LSATs and buy you a drink (along with any other 7Sagers obviously).

Obviously not everyone is in New York, but for those that are, let's drink away our concerns over our scores!

Anyone else in?

Preptest Curriculum Order

Just an FYI, for the preptests on the syllabus, after you click continue to the "Download and take the preptest" it goes to the "check and review your answers", but then it says "done" and sends you back to the syllabus as opposed to "continue" for the "Review every question and every section". Not really a problem, you just have to manually click on it from the syllabus page. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

The first paragraph discusses how bias is not ok. They need to "abandon wishful thinking, assimilate bad news, and discard pleasing interpretations (bias)". Objectivity cannot have a bias in its definition. Good luck!

PT 55/56 easier than others?

Hey guys,

I've been stuck around the low 160s for a while now, but got a 167 and 169 on PT 55 and 56. Though I am really happy, I was wondering how much of this could have been due to the level of difficulty of these particular tests. Anyone know of any rankings of the tests or experience something similar?

Thanks!

I also chose A. I think the reason it's wrong is similar to what Jon said about both A and E. The stimulus was not making a general statement about boulders. Rather, it was discussing one specific boulder that was moved. So the case may be that most boulders do not go more than 100 miles, this one just happened to.

I agree my explanation seems weak, but it's the best I can come up with.

What confused me here, and what I still don't understand, is the word significantly for A. Let's say some of the workers are not paid significantly more than minimum wage, they might still be paid more than minimum wage. And that number may still be higher than the 5% increase. Who knows? My problem with A is that it still leads you to make further assumptions before reaching the conclusion. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something...any help would be really appreciated!

I included the possibility of a tie when I was doing this question, therefore I chose A. Just because when Jennifer is not playing they lose does not mean when she is they'll win. Perhaps they will tie...

Proctor App

I seem to be having a glitch with my proctor app on iphone. About 10 minutes through my 15 minute break, the app shuts off and when I turn it back on it's at the beginning again. Anyone else experience the same thing?

Just keep practicing. If you aren't in a desperate need to go to law school next year, then hold off and take the test in June. It's amazing what an extra month can do for you, let alone six. Especially if you work full time.

Good Luck!

This question was tricky for me because I thought C went in contradiction with the premise. The premise says that they were treated for similar illnesses in both hospitals then the answer choice says that the patients are often treated for different illnesses.I guess we then have to assume the study of similar cases is a small percentage and not representative of the hospitals treatment as a whole.

my understand after listening to Jon (I guessed C) is that the role that quote is playing is an observation which you might think is strong enough to dismantle the conclusion, but it isn't. Meaning, just because people tend to only praise those who resist temptation(the observation) does not mean that those who don't have the temptation are not supposed to be praised(that the argument is false). In reality, even with the observation, the conclusion is still right.

Hope this helps!

If they didn't find Samantha's fingerprints it does not exonerate her. It makes it more likely that she was the murdered. The stimulus says that if Samantha was the murderer, she would not have left behind any of her foot or fingerprints. There were no footprints, so clause #1 checked off. If it's true that the fingerprints also aren't hers, it's very possible she's the killer.

I understand why C needs to be assumed, but I don't get why E is incorrect. If anything, it furthers the claim Samantha is a prime suspect. Anyone?

I don't understand why B is correct. I chose C because the conclusion states that having only a few parts gives no survival advantage. Therefore, you need all parts in oder for any to give you an advantage. The reason Jon gives as to why E is incorrect could also be applied for B in my opinion. You could propel the bacteria by ways other than swimming; we're just discussing the bacteria getting propelled. Therefore I don't see why it needed to have helped it swim. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The reason I chose C is because the stimulus says that environmentalism is not in reality politically orthodox. With that being the case, Winslow's reason for them constantly putting anti-enviormentalist articles is not challenging the politically orthodox. Therefore it is not consonant with the frequency. If environmentalism was in fact a political orthodox view, then it would be consistent. However, since the stimulus says that the charge is inaccurate, it cannot be the reason. Help please!

Thanks guys! I have bought 7sage and love it. I was just hoping to balance my time between taking practice tests and doing logic game drills. Guess that won't be an option.

Logic Games Explanations

Anyone know where I can find the questions to all the game explanations? It's really difficult to follow along without having done the questions first.

Thanks!

ajd0008, as long as you prepare the rest of your application and have it ready to go by the time you get your December score, you should be fine. It becomes problematic if you wait until late January-Febrauary. But First week of January is still fine for enrollment. As for highest score vs averaged, you gotta look it up for each school. A lot of schools now do High score, but a bunch of T14 still do average so be careful. Either way, we're gonna crush this test!

Just because the answering machine has one particular feature does not mean that voicemail is no longer flexible, convenient, and cheap. This feature could be really expensive, difficult, and rigid (not sure how an answering machine can be rigid, but not the point) but maybe people want this feature so badly that they'll forgo the 3 positives for voicemails. By stating the answering machine has a feature that the voicemail does not, it weakens the conclusion that answering machines are completely irrelevant and obsolete.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

That's the trick they're trying to get you with. It's very possible for something to be widely recognized and yet still be trivialized. Everyone knows it, but belittles it.

For Question 8, I'm having a hard time eliminating D. Wouldn't lines 24-28 imply that rural art was non existent since during the Mao Revolution, the realist painters only focused on the positive. And their mentors would've preferred they'd ignore the rural aspects. What made Scar Art different was how it portrayed the rural and poverty. Help please!
