I have taken the LSAT once in June 2023 with a very bad score and very minimal preparation, but I am planning on taking the LSAT again in Jan of 2024 after excessive studying. With this, will I be able to get into law school starting in Fall 2024?

Hello 7Sage community,

I hope this message finds you well on your LSAT journey :)

I wanted to take a moment to share my own experience, as it may resonate with some of you who are navigating significant life changes alongside LSAT preparation.

I embarked on this LSAT journey with dedication, allocating countless hours to studying for the test. I've benefited immensely from the tools and support offered by 7Sage, and I want to express my gratitude for that. The skills I've honed during this process are invaluable and will serve me well in life.

However, life doesn't always follow a straight path. Major career shifts, housing challenges, and relationship changes have shifted my focus and priorities. I decided to put the LSAT on hold to navigate these transitions effectively.

I'm sharing this not to discourage anyone but to contribute my own story and data point to the wide array of LSAT preparation experiences out there. The LSAT journey can take a holistic toll – financially, emotionally, and professionally. I wish I had come across posts like this earlier to help me evaluate my preparation choices within the context of my life circumstances.

I'm not closing the door on the LSAT. It's a journey I may return to when it aligns with my life circumstances. For now, I'm focusing on adapting to the changes life has presented.

I wish each and every one of you a happy and successful learning journey. Cherish the skills you're developing; they'll serve you well beyond the LSAT.

Hi all (:

I'm now finally scoring above my goal score on BR and have gotten to the point where I think I can consistently score in the range I'd want as my real test score- but ONLY on blind review. I'm still a few points under on my timed PTs. This shows me that I'm capable of scoring what I want but I feel like my main issue is speed, as I usually run out of time for the last few questions on LR ~1-3 (0 if I'm lucky lol) and RC I usually end up skimming the last passage and don't have enough time for notes. ): I'd appreciate any tips anyone might have on just getting faster? Like any drills/methods you use?

I have recently started taking prep tests to gear up for the November exam and I am wondering what method people have used to ensure that they have a good feel for the old/recent tests. Is it advised to skip around, start from old to new, or from new to old? Also, is taking 3/4 sections worth it? Or do you guys feel as if it has helped taking all 4 even though one of them is unscored?

Thanks!

Hello,

Trying this again as I have found new motivation to study for the LSAT. Please reach out to me if you would like to study together!!!!

I am currently scoring: 165-170 (Official take October 2022 was 165).

Goal score: 173+ (hoping to be a splitter!)

I plan to take in Jan 2024, but willing to push back until I am consistently scoring in the range that I want.

Location: Virtual but I would also be down to meet if you are in the DFW area.

I am in Central time zone. I have a 9-5, so would have to meet either early morning before work (7:30ish) or after work (6pm or later). Currently I am putting in about 1-3 hrs per day except Friday, a PT on Sunday.

What I need help with: Logic Games is my weakest section. I used to be somewhat decent at it before I basically stopped studying in January of this year.

What I can (potentially) help you with: RC and LR are my strongest sections. I have been getting -2/3 on the last RC PTs I have been taking, -4 or less for LR.

I do not have a real preference for what your current score is, but 158+ would be ideal. I do learn a lot by working with/teaching others so it is not a hard limit!

I just decided to do this today and take an untimed practice test. I really am thrilled with my score because it means I can score higher than I thought I could. It doesn't mean I will magically get that score on test day, but it does mean I understand more of the material than I thought I did. It makes me feel a lot more confident & proud in the work I have just put in for these past few months. Yes the time pressure will always be there, but I now know I have a lot more of the concepts down than I even thought.

This is more to boost your confidence in your studies. I have been threw a rut believing that it was impossible for me to score higher than I was on timed PT, but this changes that narrative. I can do it, now it's time to get faster. How can I speed up my process and maintain that accuracy, is the next step in the process. No more learning new things, you're just improving and refining what you already know. :) hope this helps!

Hi everyone, I am feeling so incredibly infuriated with my current score plateau and I can't seem to be improving. I have read that score plateaus are very common but how does one break through? Ive tried powering through, taking breaks for a few days but the score will not change no matter what I do. My BR scores are decent but I just find myself getting so frustrated and actually angry at this point.

Anya advice would be greatly appreciated.

After taking three practice tests, I have learned that READING COMP is consistently my best section and LG is the worst and it's not close. With the Nov LSAT being a little under a month away, what do I need to prioritize in terms of learning LG so that I at least become proficient at them? I'm not even concerned with going flawless, even if I went -5 on the exam, it'd bump me 8 whole points from my average. I can brush up and drill LR questions and such, but there are SO many logic games. What do I need to do? I keep hearing LG is the easiest section to improve but I feel like I'm still awful at them. Any help is much appreciated

All, please help me to stop pulling l my hair out.

Two weeks ago, I switched to exclusively using Lawhub for my PTs since I'll be testing for the Nov 2023 LSAT and wanted to be accustomed to the format.

Before that, I had been scoring in the high 160s (165, 169, 170, 168) and nabbed a 170 once.

However, since I have switched, I got a 164, a 163, and just got a 164. It's wildly frustrating, especially because I am seeing trends in my scores I have never seen before (I usually get -4 or better on RC, but got a -6 and -7 on my previous two PTs) that seem to defy my previous understanding of my strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately, there are a few things happening in my life that may be contributing to this, so it's been hard for me to isolate what the causes might be. I'm worried that the layout/fixed order/extra LR on Lawhub is a major contributing cause, but I can't tell. Further, I feel like it's important that I get comfortable with the layout whether I like it or not.

In trying to understand this, I wanted to get people's experience and input.

How do I interpret this significant drop in my scores? How can I tell whether my previously higher scores or my current scores are the fluke trend?

Has anyone else seen score fluctuations when they test on Lawhub as opposed to 7Sage? And, by extension, what are your thoughts regarding the modern (3-passage) vs. legacy (4-passage with the extra LR) for accurately assessing ability?

As general advice, what did you do to break the high 160s ceiling/plateau?

Thanks all for your input, and please help me reduce the amount of time I need to spend doing anti-frustration meditations on Spotify.

Hey 7Sagers,

Here's the official October 2023 LSAT Discussion Thread.

REMINDER: Under your Candidate Agreement, you may not discuss the details of any specific LSAT questions at any time. For the October 2023 LSAT, general discussion of what sections you had, or how difficult you found a given section, or speculation about which sections were scored or unscored, is prohibited until after 9pm ET, Tuesday, October 17th.

Posts that violate these rules will be taken down and may result in disciplinary action from LSAC. Let’s work together to ensure the test is fair to everyone, and not share information before everyone has taken the test.

Some examples of typical comments:

The following comments are okay 🙆‍♀️

  • the section on Cambodian woodworking really had me second guessing everything.
  • a few of the games had me confused but think I was okay.
  • overall fair test, struggled on a couple of RC passages (damn you polymorphic molecules) but think I was okay hoping for a -2 or -3
  • The following comments are over the line 🙅‍♂️

  • the passage on Cambodian woodworking didn’t count.
  • I had Cambodian woodworking, Fireflies, and rice farming in Iowa so Lithuanian Lithograph Libraries was experimental.
  • fair test but struggled on a couple RC passages (polymorphic molecules anyone? Thankfully it didn’t count). Don’t want to take again in June
  • Anyone know if Polygamist Societies in the 1880s was real or experimental?
  • Please tell me that polygon dice game didn’t count
  • Good luck to everyone taking the October 2023 LSAT!

**Please keep all discussions of the October 2023 LSAT here!**(/red)

Hi everyone, im asking for your thoughts and opinions. I graduate with my BA in philosophy in december. Im taking the october and november lsat. I plan on starting law school in august. I really want a job as a legal assistant from january-august. Would a big law firm want a temporary hire? Ive had friends tell me i shouldnt disclose going to law school at all… but that feels icky… like starting a romantic relationship with someone knowing youre moving countries in 8 months.. haha.

I was not able to finish my LSAT. There was an error after the intermission and my screen just went back to LSAC homepage. Proctor did not know how to address this. She told me to exit and message help desk of ProProctor. I was worried this would affect my test and so I asked her if I could continue and she assured me that it would not affect my test. I believed her and left; contacted Proctor was told to restart. And so I did, when I tried logging back in - I was not allowed in. There was a pop-up that said I should contact LSAT. I filed a complaint but I'm worried I may not be allowed for a retake on Oct. 25. I am an international test taker and the money is quite heavy but also the next exam is in January. I'm planning to submit my applications around Nov-Dec.

What should I do? I'm so worried or maybe what should I atleast expect? Will I have to retake all four sections if I am allowed?

Diagnostic score of 145, currently PT’ing in low 150’s. Started studying in August and taking the LSAT in a month. Realistically, what kind of a jump can I make in one month? Best is -9 on RC -10 on LR and -12 on LG I think, and I’ve yet to finish the last game on a logic games section. Would love to be in the mid 160’s. Is this a realistic goal at this point?

Hey everyone I'm trying to begin prepping and learning but I don't know where to start. I can't just take practice exams without having learned anything. What resources do you guys recommend me to start with to learn the material itself?

I just took the LSAT writing sample. I used every second. When the clock struck 0, I was taken to a page that said something like "Oops, error. Try reloading the page or talk to us in the chat". My videocamera and screen continued to be recorded. I chatted with a proctor and he said the close will tab. I'm still worried it didn't get submitted...... Has this happened to anyone else? How do I check to see if it got submitted?
