Hi 7Sage community!

EDIT At the moment I'm booked, I'll update this in the future as I get more time, etc. Thanks everyone!

I'm posting this to see if there is anyone out there who would be interested in free tutoring. I am currently scoring in the low 170s and I'm looking to break into the mid-upper 170s by March. I'm hoping that the act of helping others with this test will help me reach that goal! I'd also love to "pay forward" the knowledge and work I've put into studying for this test for the past year and a half. Please read before messaging me, I know it's long.

I do not profess to be an expert at all... hence why it's free. (I also have pretty strong feelings about the cost barriers for this test, so I can't imagine charging much in the future either, once I get some experience and higher scores under my belt.) In exchange for this, I'm looking for people who are reliable. I am looking for someone who will be on time and responsive. Also I'll ask for your patience... I have teaching experience in other areas, but not with this test. It will be a learning experience for both of us!

Unfortunately, because I'm still in the middle of my own studying, I'm preciously treasuring my clean tests. This makes me somewhat limited in the tests that I'm willing to help people from. At this point I'm currently familiar with PTs 1-51, and a smattering of others in the 60s and 70s. I'm starting a pretty aggressive PT schedule, so that range will widen as the weeks go on. If you'd like to be on the same PT schedule as me, that would be fantastic and something we can talk more about.

My strengths are RC and LR... LG isn't bad, but it's probably my weakest section so my help there could be spottier.

My schedule is absolutely insane so flexibility will be required here. I have a full time job with strange hours... I work Weekdays and evenings on the Weekend. Mondays are my only day off usually, sometimes Tuesdays. I'm located on the east coast, so people on EST are preferred, but not required.

I am an orchestral musician and have a very extensive performance background... lots of performing, lots of auditions. If you are someone who is struggling at all with the performance aspects of this test, I can help you.

Feel free to message me if you're interested! This will be a first come first serve situation, I can't imagine being able to help more than 1 or 2 people if we do regular weekly sessions.

Thanks!

Nora

Hello All,

I just recently purchased 7Sage and I/m still trying to get accustomed with the program. However, I was wondering if it is possible to take only one section of the LSAT (Let's say a RC section) and then have the ability to blind review that section through 7Sage. Then proceed to look at the 7Sage provided solutions. I know you can do this with an entire exam, but I'm not entirely sure if you can do this with only one section. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi everyone,

I've seen a lot of discussions where you can submit your application to a law score before LSAT scores are releases, but it does not allow you to submit if there is no valid lsat report. How do you go about this? Or should I just wait till I get the score. This is in regards to the January Lsat so scores would be released February 2nd.

So I decided to take another year to do this again & aiming for June but after 9 months of doing nothing but work, study, repeat I think I burned myself out. Any advice for starting again? I don’t think studying 24/7 helped - it may have harmed actually. I’ve been trying to get back into studying the last couple weeks but have been unable to get myself to do it.

I need advice on "setting up" matching games. I seem to have the most difficulty with number restrictions and being able to swiftly move through these games. Does a "catch all" approach exist when dealing with these types of setups, at least, in order to get started? I feel as if these are preventing me from breaking into the 150s. I'm at a 148 right now and it's driving me mad.

Hi everyone,

This may or may not sound like an odd question.

I have heard that you are not allowed to speak out loud during the LSAT. So, I have being using my index finger as a guide while I read a LR stim or a RC passage which has helped with my retention of the infos.

I usually find that it helps keep me focused on each sentence and it helps keep me on track if I pause in the middle of reading.

Has anyone had an issue with ProctorU about using their finger as a guide while reading?

Looking for advice on prep/study time heading into the January exam. I took a break between the November test and when we got our results back, and then hit the ground running for the January exam. I am now spending about 12-18 hours a week right preparing, and try to get through at least 2 full timed sections in everyday (I alternate between all three pretty evenly) and then one or two practice tests a week on top of that. Heading into the November exam, I was doing almost 30 hours a week, and noticed my scores dipping in the few weeks heading into the exam. I also had a minor proctoring issue in one of the sections that cost me about 3 minutes of time.

I noticed a big jump in my scores from November - I was averaging 169/170 before that test, with a lot of outliers including a 165 and a 175, but now I'm averaging a 172, with a much tighter range of scores. Despite the improvement, I'm freaking myself out that I'm not preparing enough, since I'm doing less than half the amount of studying I was doing before the November exam. Part of me is wondering if maybe I burnt myself out before November. How are other January test takers preparing/managing their anxiety ahead of the test?

While keeping track of my errors in LR I notice I'm more prone to making errors in questions that I would typically get right (PSA, SA, PF, PR) when those questions are at the end of the section.

Notwithstanding the fact that being at the end of the section can sometimes indicate that a question type can be harder, I personally find my issue is that these Q types require a lot of mental power to keep tedious information organized, more than other Q types (maybe because they can sometimes be heavy on conditional logic, not really sure?)

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has tried hunting for specific question types and if they would recommend that strategy to me? I wonder if this would be beneficial to get the 'formulaic' questions (like the parallel reasoning/flaw) out of the way while my brain is in the mood to tackle them properly. I recently got a 3 star PSA question wrong and was kicking myself in BR, I can't figure out why I would have selected the AC that I selected and can only conclude it was because I was fatigued.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Posting this very late b/c I have been busting my butt on the other app materials (personal statement, LOR's, etc.)..... Just want to thank 7sage and the awesome games and LR curriculum. The 7sage LR course was helpful and I got even better by reading LR Loophole after finishing the 7 sage course work (brought me to a -1/-2 consistently on LR). The games curriculum of 7sage was out of this world and brought me to a consistent -0, only thing I did outside of 7sage was do logic puzzles everyday to get my inference muscles really strong. The explanations on this site were extremely helpful through out this process. I would recommend doing all of 7sage's base lessons, using 7sage for LG, using a combo of 7sage LR curriculum as well as the LR Loophole book. As far as RC, it really just takes ALOT of practice and BR'ing to make sure you know why you are eliminating certain answers and confirming pretty much every answer you pick with the text - 25/27 RC questions are directly or indirectly (meaning you have to make an inference from the text) supported by the text. To get my reading speed and comprehension levels up I found the book "Speed Reading With The Right Brain" by David Butler very helpful. If you guys have any questions or need any advice please PM me on here and thank you so much to the &sage team for helping along this wild rollercoaster of a journey!

Hello 7Sagers,

I am facing this issue that when I do questions timed, I have ~70 accuracy in LR, but blind review, it seems so easy I have near perfect or perfect. Time wise; probably double the time to achieve full accuracy. Problem: not understanding the stimulus quick enough. Sometimes I have to re-read it like 4 times before I can make sense of the stimulus. Once I understand then it is relatively simple. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am at about 172-174 Blind review. Thanks!

Hi guys!

I am not a native English speaker. All those twenty years I read English on paper. I am practicing reading English on my computer for the digital LSAT. At first, I thought this won't be that hard, maybe I could find my way quickly. But it's so hard to change my reading habits and make my eyes get used to reading those tiny English letters on the screen. It's completely different if I print those PTs and finish them on paper. I will read more carefully and I can mark the keywords without being distracted. Do you have any tips for me? Thanks again!

Hi!

I was wondering what your approach is when completing the RC section. I tend to start with the passage that has the most questions, but I'm realizing that the last two tend to be harder, so I end up with -7 or -8. Would it make more sense to start with the harder passages first? I would appreciate any feedback/tips! Thanks.

Hi everyone, I recently finished my LSAT and I scored a 168. I was averaging 172 on PTs and am willing to tutor a few students 1 on 1 for free. I was lucky enough to get help on my LSAT journey so I wanted to give back. Please dm me on 7sageprep if you are interested. Also, let me know what you are averaging on your PTs as well as when you plan on taking the LSAT.

I seem to be confused on which questions types to expect Alternative-Reversal-Coincidence answer choices when dealing with a causal argument. Is this exclusive to Strengthen-Weaken questions? Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Greetings everyone, just wanted some pointers on an upcoming application. During my last application cycle, I was waitlisted at my #1 school, I sent a letter of continued interest, and ended up not getting admitted. I applied really really late in the admissions cycle which is the main reason as to why I was not admitted (2 weeks before deadline in May). Now for this upcoming cycle I'd like to apply in the next few weeks, I have everything in order (revised PS, resume, letters, etc) but I will be taking the January LSAT in hopes of scoring higher. My current LSAT score is about the 25th percentile at the school. I'd like to apply as soon as possible and just let them know I have a pending LSAT in a few weeks. What should I do? #help
